Hater

He's been a big deal on the Texas Indy scene . He's an incredible promo to boot.
-
I think the best feud in ROH right now is Rowe/War Machine vs Keith Lee who has huge upside and Shane Taylor.
-
He should be the gate keeper like how Jake Roberts or Hacksaw Duggan was in the WWF. It's funny because Castle is more of an 80's character and that is why he's so over.
-
I agree he is under used.
-
I'm not saying it wouldn't work. I just don't think it would.
-
He's not the right character. He 's more in the Adrian Street, Sting ilk where they are super over, mean a lot to the card, but don't work as world champ.
-
Right. Hogan's best feuds were people who wanted the belt and it became personal . Andre, belt, cross. Savage, belt, Liz. Warrior belt , and who wanted to be the top guy.
-
I don't care if the Bucks have the belt. I think it's a billion times worse they're booked as heels.
-
Well that's what we are dealing with. Delirious had been stale for awhile . With Flair he was able to make his feuds personal over the belt . With Austin I feel his era helped with the decline of the value of the belt. Once Bret lost the belt. It began to lose it's luster as World Title.
-
I think if you put the belt on Castle it will slowly strip him of his uniqueness. For starters, the feuds will be about the belt, not about things that make him special. If he's champ the boys impact would lessen. He should be pushed more near the top and work in multi mans on top. All his feuds should be personal.
-
To me the problem is ROH has made the championship so important. Dalton Castke is their most over act. Yet doesn't need the belt. So you have a conflict to the fans and a booking philosophy.

Atlas vs Gino We start with an interview with Atlas. Race interrupts and gets pressed over Atlas's head. We go to the match and this is a boatload of fun. Gino is full of charisma here. He is so great bumping and stooging for Atlas. Gino got all of Tony's stuff over. This wasn't just a one man show though. Atlas showed a lot of athleticism. Atlas took the match 2 out of 3 falls. This was so entertaining. This was worked totally different than the Atlas-Boc match, but worked just as well. 3 1/4*

I thought this was the most fundamentally sound match on the show. This is a match that can work in any generation. Carson gets the shine early. He gets cut off and Dell hits a dive on him and Carson dung his shoulder on. Dell goes to work on the arm and just tears it up. The key here is Carson sells it . So the drama is in the selling and the story of the arm work. The guys are great at giving Carson some hope spots that are immediately cut off. The finish is Dell diving off the apron into a spear on the floor for a double countout. We get a post match brawl that sets up a rematch. 3 1/4*

This was a 3 Way Dance. All guys could be in the ring at once. This was all action with a lot of big moves. This had the feel of something out of Lucha Underground. I thought Dorado looked like the best of the 3 here. It was pretty amazing the timing these guys had with one another. It started out really hot, got a little sloppy in the middle for a minute. Then it got it together to really peak and have a fun finishing stretch. I totally bought the low blow as the finish. So I popped big at the kickout. 3 3/4*

Butch Reed Music/workout video. They even have break dancers on display. Total 80's goodness.

Gino vs Slater This was worked pretty interesting. Slater didn't do a traditional shine. Gino would work spots and Slater would one up him. This happened for the majority of the match. Gino throws liquid in Slater's eyes to set up the heat. Gino hits him with a loaded fist for the 3. The crowd is going crazy. Gino attacks Slater post match and the ref reverses his decision. A different way to work the bout. Got a lot of reactions.

Bock vs Atlas This has no commentary so I believe it has never been seen before. I was really curious with what Bock could get out of Atlas. Matt D and I were chatting and he said that it felt like Bock was working with Atlas like someone who could beat him, and not just a monster. I really agree with him. Flair I feel would have done the Sting formula with him. Here Bock was great as the World Champ. Their was no begging off. It was the champ versus #1 contender. We start off with some exchanging of holds and Atlas takes control on Bock's arm. He works it over for a bit, and then transitions onto the leg. Bock reverses it and delivers 6 quick nasty punches to Tony's leg. I really liked Bock's work on the leg. It was very rugged. Tony's comeback is good and he incorporates some leg selling here. He does drop it a bit but not overtly bad. Toward the finish it gets pretty hot. Bock is busted open and is great at the long term selling the match. I loved the finish. This was a great Bock performance, and I want to say my favorite Tony Atlas match I've seen. 3 1/2*

What are your favorite "very good" (***1/2 - ****) matches?
shoe replied to Loss's topic in Pro Wrestling
The Arn Anderson vs Big Josh match from 92 is a match that I really like in the 3 1/2* range. No one was getting matches like that from Josh, let alone going 30+. Fast forward a year later and Josh as Doink he's having great matches in WWE. Gimmicks man. -
I've liked Mil Muertes.

This is a barbed wire match. Great brawl to start. The wire comes into play. The Invaders are just eating the barbed wire. No teases here. Invaders fight back and it's time for the heels to taste the wire. This is a pretty primal fight. The goal is to mess up the other team. This is just a hate filled nasty fight. I liked it for what it was. Would have preferred a more dynamic finish though. 3 1/2*

Sheepherders getting heat right off the bat. The stalling is pretty long. Youngblood's pander to the fans by using the Puerto Rico flag . This is Jay and Mark. One of the Sheepherders takes a bump into the crowd. He's insane . The Youngblood's are working the arm in the shine. I enjoyed the miss tag by the heels. The Sheepherders cheat with a double team to set up the heat. The match eventually breaks down and a brawl ensues. We get chairshots, flag pole shots. The closing run is all over the place. Super chaotic. I thought the Sheepherders could have sold the Youngblood's offense a tad better. Still this was good, and a heated postmatch. 3 1/4*
