  1. The 1st 1985 episode is summarizing the MX win at Superstars on the Superstation which happened in 86.
  2. Butch Reed Here is another guy who has had a great career. We've seen a lot of footage throughout the years as a potential top 100 GWE. The Houston footage is cementing this, and even expanding on it. We've seen him work heel and babyface effectively. We've seen him excel in singles and tags. He's been great in working a gimmick match along with a straight match. Can't wait to see more of him.
  3. Andre/Hacksaw Duggan vs Kamala/Missing Link This really is a great match to upload for Thanksgiving. Andre teaming up with the local babyface always seems special. I've always been a mark for Devestation Inc. So this has the potential to be a barn burner. We start out with a wild fight. Missing Link takes a bump like he was shot out of a cannon. It settles down and we have some fun with Kamala refusing to enter the ring if Andre is in . So it becomes Duggan and Link. Link is bumping big for Duggan and showing plenty of ass to make Duggan look great. Finally we get Andre and Kamala and the crowd erupts. Then these guys are fighting and Kamala is showing tons of agression or savagery. I really enjoyed the match up until this point. Once Andre went into FIP it was pretty lack luster. Then the match dragged a bit. You really need to be nasty and or incredibily smart to make it work. Once we went down the finishing run It got me back with the slamming of Kamala. Still the good outweighs the bad. 2 1/2*

  5. Parv and I were just saying that we hope a few of the Harley/Wahoo matches show up. I really want to see Spoiler against a variety of opponents. He really strikes me as a super versatile type worker.
  6. Cool, Bruce. Have a good one too.

  8. Plus if we took everything at face value we'd accept Hogan was the 1st to slam Andre, and Jake was the man who invented the DDT. Both statements have been proven false by watching the Houston footage.
  9. This is a place that watches a lot of wrestling . Their isn't tons of Spoiler in his prime same for Wahoo . Especially in an arena setting. I like to watch the footage as do a lot of people here and judge for our selves. Like Matt D says . I prefer judging them through my eyes. Not based on others opinions.
  10. I've loved Bracero too, and a guys reaction that was bigger than his push.
  11. I've liked Jr. too.
  12. Well his Dad was a sponsor for the shows.
  13. Their have been a lot of wrestlers we've been exposed too because of this service. Some of the standouts to me have been Jose Lothario The promotion is obviously behind him. in accordance they highlight his strengths like his punches, and his timing. The talent goes out and tries to have good matches with him. I've seen the exact opposite when he did some shots in WCCW and worked Hayes, and Jimmy Garvin. Those guys were about themselves and getting over . Lothario was a part timer there. So to see him in Houston is refreshing. Gino Hernandez Man what a natural. He had charisma. He had agressivness. He was a good bumper. He carried the heat. An awesome promo. His psychology was tremendous here. He truly was the prototype. He's a better Tully. The Spoiler We only have gotten one match, but it was a doozy. He seemed ahead of his time. Big man with incredible agility. Can't wait till we unearth more gems of his. Maybe a footage resurgence might help his cause to be in the WONHOF. Wahoo McDaniel The footage has shown what an incredible worker he is. The way he would sell and sell was underrated. Then the way he would time his comeback was a thing of beauty. He was more than a guy with a stiff chop. Their are plenty of other wrestlers, but thought I'd start a more specific thread to flesh them out.
  14. Can't wait Bruce.
  15. Butch Reed vs Marty Lunde This is Butch Reed's debut in Houston. His opponent Marty Lunde is the future Arn Anderson. Butch Reed drew a lot of money over the years, especially in Houston. Marty Lunde never really drew a dime in wrestling. He was essentially an underneath guy in Mid-South. Now Arn Anderson drew more money than both Reed and Lunde combined. This match was a total blast. Reed has loads of charisma. In his debut he has a connection to the audience that you can't fake it. Marty is already Arn here and has the skill set that made him one of the most consistent wrestlers in the history of wrestling. Reed is great on offense . He has a lot of energy. The dropkick he did was great. The arm work was a good base for the match and Reed's offense. Arn was great at eating arm drags, and putting over all of Reed's offense. Arn would use some of his stooging techniques that he would master in a year or 2. His facials here are on point here as well. Reed finishes him with his finisher. A perfect match for Reed to debut on. 3*

  17. I don't think so based on the finish . The heat was set up for Ted and Dusty. We got that double bull rope, dog collar match.
  18. Nick Bockwinkel vs Dusty Rhodes This would be called a dream match and it wouldn't be hyperbole. The AWA World Champ vs the 2 time former NWA World Champ and biggest box office draws around. This card was called a Night of Champions and had both the AWA and WWF titles defended on the show. This is the 1st match in a 2 match series. So the point of the 1st match is to make people believe that Dusty can win the title and have a screwy finish to set up the Bull rope match next month. It starts with Ted Dibiase issuing a challenge to the winner. We open with a lock up and early on Dusty knocks Bock down and we get a Funky Like A Monkey strut .Bock is fun in stooging for Dusty and coming up ways to eat his offense. Bock is great at creating movement where Dusty reigns supreme. In a big moment Bock misses a top rope knee drop. Dusty goes for the knee and puts him the Figure 4. Ted comes out and lays Dusty out in a bloody mess and Nick goes over. I really wish we would have seen them milk the drama of some leg work to set up the Figure 4. I think it would have given the finish more gravitas. 2 3/4*

  20. Hopefully , Dalton will get a spot in ROH's Top Prospect tourney. I appears that fellow Texans Keith Lee and Shane Taylor will be in their TPT after their showing in Nashville this weekend. Lee is one heck of a promo.
  21. Steve Williams vs Barry Orton I thought this was a ton of fun when Barry Orton was on offense. I loved the punch off the break. Orton comes across as really sleazy and opportunistic here. Doc is pretty green here. He even has the amateur wrestling body. Eventually Doc's strength is too much for Orton. Barry does a great job in taking all of Doc's big moves. A really fun showcase for Doc that Orton did a good job making interesting

  23. I vote Bock vs Reed.
  24. Good review and it seems like we both agree on point about most of it if not all.
