Definitely not just you.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief when he re-upped with Vince. I have zero desire to see him in AEW.

Did the SmackDown Superstars invade RAW tonight? Was there a big brawl to end the show, between people wearing blue t-shirts and people wearing red t-shirts? (And maybe also people wearing black and yellow)? I hope so! That stuff is always so interesting. Man, I am on tenterhooks waiting to see if the RAW Superstars will put aside all of their ongoing issues and band together to put on red t-shrts and invade SmackDown! I am super excited to find out which brand is superior. Survivor Series booking has been so awesome the past few years. Much better than back in 1998.

The World Tag League is pretty much the least of NJPW's tournaments these days, isn't it? The old boy teams of TenKoji and Nagata and Nakanishi, as well as Evil and Sanada and Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa are all actual tag teams in my eyes, but three quarters of the teams in the tournament feel more like two guys thrown together or at best two stable mates thrown together. Suzuki and Archer look like the most interesting of those, and I guess Yano and Colt make sense as a comedy team... though I feel like Cabana kind of detracts from Yano's act. I have been enjoying the highlights and clips I've seen so far, though. Haven't felt the need to track down any full matches yet.

In Suplex City, I, I never learned to pile-drive And you told me we'd never have teams of five strive to survive Grab your giant cell phone, Paul, we're leaving You always seemed so sure That one day we'd be fighting in a war games Your brand against mine I saw you standing on the opposite ring apron But by the time the first powerbombs were thrown We were already bored We were already, already bored In my dreams the WrestleMania 33 crowd is still booing They're still booing They're still booing

I don't know if this helps at all, but the guy who wears the kilt (I looked it up: Thomas Latimer, a/k/a Bram) and Kamille are a real-life couple (like Roman and Becky)! Also, apparently, Bram used to be married to Charlotte Flair and Kamille used to date Braun (That probably won't be part of the larger NWA Power storyline, though).

I would LOVE to see the Lights Out Match with Werner Herzog commentary. “I believe the common denominator of the pro wrestling is not bumping, selling, and crowd work; but chaos, hostility and murder.”

Wait! What? You're saying it's better to have the good guys looking brave and tough, rather than cowardly and stupid? Hmmm... you might be on to something there.

I went out of my way to catch the season 4 premier of Rick and Morty, in large part because of the cosplay on AEW's Halloween show. I loved it. Brilliant sci fi mixed with nihilistic comedy, Jokes coming so fast I couldn't count them all. Right up my alley. And now I have three full seasons to go back and enjoy. AEW is the gift that keeps on giving.

The difference is that Rollins thinks he is cool.

Vince (Getting angrier and angrier as he goes on, pounding on his desk and on the walls): Bruno never had leukemia! Backlund never had leukemia! Hogan never had leukemia! ... Austin never had leukemia! HHH never had leukemia! Cena never had leukemia!... Roman (stands there looking genuinely contrite)

Here's what I'm worried about: Janela vs Spears, PAC vs Page, Bucks vs Santana and Ortiz, SCU vs Lucha Bros vs Private Party, and Omega vs Moxley are all very very very likely to be super fast paced go-go-go matches crammed full of insane high spots. I'm worried that it will be like watching a three-hour cut of one of those "Moves that made me go Holy $#*! videos on youtube. I don't think I'd enjoy that. I really hope that Jericho and Cody go for an older-school style storytelling match with some build and some dynamics... and maybe Riho and Emi do some mat work and chain wrestling? Maybe Page works more of a classic cowboy brawler style? I really hope that they break up the go-go-go pace at least a little bit and give us some variety.

That got a legit lol out of me, and I have never watched a single episode of BTE (But I have watched - and enjoyed - Wrestlers on the Road Ordering Room Service) .

I can't speak for goodhelmet, but I can easily see why it might be a good idea to have the hottest, most over babyface in the company win the championship at the PPV. Have we been so bamboozled by years and years of WWE not doing that, that 'striking while the iron is hot' now seems odd to us? Edit: That being said, I can also understand the arguments for keeping it on Jericho. It could legitimately go either way. That's a good thing.

I prefer that the announcers don't explain everything. Let some stuff come across as WTF, let us fill in some of the gaps ourselves Nothing kills a joke faster than explaining it. In fact, I'd like a little less explanation from the AEW announcers (e.g. I already understand that Britt Baker is an actual dentist, there is no need to keep telling us about it - unless maybe they are going for a rake gag kind of effect).

Here is the good stuff:

Right there with you. The crazy thing is, the go-go-go style is not my preferred style of pro wrestling, but by presenting their show in a way where it seems that they sincerely want the fans and the wrestlers to be happy and have some fun they have won me over. Sane, logical booking. Not knowing what will happen but looking forward to finding out (as opposed to hoping they do something fun or interesting, but resignedly acknowledging that deep down inside you know that there is no chance they will). Refreshing.

I am pretty sure that Cody was actually born in Marietta Georgia... But he is often billed as being from Charlotte. I know that sarcasm doesn't always come across online, but I thought it would be obvious that I was making a joke there. should have used an emoji, I guess. Anyway, it's cool that if I hadn't been joking, you guys would have just explained it to me in a friendly way instead of mocking me. The point of my 'joke' was that it was indeed cool to see a Charlotte crowd in that great arena reacting to a Rhodes doing a classic Rhodes-style emotional, honest promo. Goosebumps. Also, I watched the main event and I thought it was a very cool moment when Jericho refused to accept Guevara's tag until Guevara had knocked Omega off the ring apron. Really established Jericho as the veteran leader teaching the young boys how to heel it up.

I've only been able to watch the first hour of this show, but Holy Cow that Cody promo and Jericho video package were absolutely first rate. Genuine emotion from Cody, some real fire, and that crowd was HOT. Cody really seems to be over in Charlotte. Do he or his family have any particular connection to that town? Then the statk contrast of the ironic piss-taking Jericho video package. Got a legit lol out of me while expertly juxtaposing the two characters involved in the title match... a match which I am now totally hyped to see. Really great stuff, and it amazes me that just as we were all saying that AEW could stand to break up the go-go-go action with some mic spots or vignettes, they come through and deliver exacatakaly that. I don't get how anyone is hating on PAC. . Sure, he's kind of The Man That Charisma Forgot on the mic but I love watching im throw his body around bumping and selling for his opponents. I don't think he gets nearly enough credit for his bumping. It's almost at an Adrian Adonis level of entertaining I'm still enjoying Private Party a lot, but I hope they can get Dustin or someone to work with them w/r/t throwing strikes that look like they might hurt someone. . I hope this isn't the last we see of Patricia Bobski, Jericho's Aunt's friend from church. Jake Hager getting laughs by just standing there was great.

We'll still have Bix, at least. I am being 100 % sincere with that. Pro wrestling conversation is hurtling toward the same sort of hell-hole that American political discourse finds itself in. Everyone's going to divide into echo-chamber camps, yell lies at each other, and just get self-righteously offended whenever anyone uses facts or knowledge to counter those lies. We are already at the stage where there is a whole generation of wrestling fans coming up who consider themselves 'experts' and want to be applauded for how much they know. It's going to be impossible to teach them anything or explain anything to them because they are convinced that they already know EVERYTHING there is to know about pro wrestling. That will probably be the case with almost every conceivable discussion topic on all manner of social media very soon, if it isn't already. People like Meltzer who have genuine connections and knowledge; or like Bix, who do actual legwork and research, will be despised for having the temerity to act like they know more than the self-proclaimed experts. People who have read one paragraph or even one tweet about the early days of TNA or the decline of WCW will lecture you, El-P, on social media about those topics and they will be furious if you explain what they get wrong. Mostly, though, they will stay away from boards like this, so my enjoyment of pro wrestling won't be directly affected, since I avoid twitter and so on. Hopefully something like actiual discussion will survive here on these boards.

Huge congratulations to my boys Daisuke Harada and Tadasuke on winning the GHC Jr. Hwt Tag Titles!!
