  1. Local paper: Editorial: Murphy kills it
  2. Add in: * shitty revenue stream * no national tv of note at it's peak Which are key to your first bullet point: - top stars leaving If you ain't got money, folks will leave to where they can make more. Granted, even if they had revenue and a national tv of note to help generate that revenue, if they built stars to the degree they could pay the top guys $150K a year... Uncle Vince's Kingdom would look to lift the guys that they thought were valuable enough to generate revenue. To a degree, ROH was lucky that they weren't on national TV and didn't have decent revenue in for most of it's history. Joe and Danielson would have never lasted as long as they did in the "glory days" if the company had. Vince would have picked them off just to fuck with ROH. John
  3. Branford woman arrested for 5th time in a month Getting even sadder, which didn't seem possible. John
  4. Bubba also has some Law Enforcement issues as well: http://www.tmz.com/2012/10/09/hulk-hogan-s...ice-report-leak That splits two ways per his attorney: (1) whoever made the tape committed a felony by unlawfully recording Hulk without his consent (2) whoever leaked it broke the law by unlawfully running that footage Clearly Bubba filmed it. Whether he leaked it is another question. John
  5. Poor Ric Flair. He's trying to get "heat" back with another round of divorce and eventually a new wife. And here comes Hogan dropping the leg with a Sex Tape. You can't top that. John
  6. I have no idea why we haven't been talking about this: Hulk Hogan Sex Tape Leaks Online Hulk Hogan Sex Tape: Female Co-Star Revealed To Be Heather Clem, Second Tape May Leak Yes, I Banged Bubba's Wife Hulk Hogan ‘devastated’ by leak of sex tape filmed six years ago with friend’s wife Heather Clem, says new wife Jennifer McDaniel is ‘rattled’: The mustachioed muscle man star told Howard Stern Tuesday that the racy recording was made without his knowledge six years ago while his marriage to ex-wife Linda Hogan was crumbling Poor Bubba and Hulk. John
  7. Looking at the history: 03/10/2005: decision to not continue with Spike 04/04/2005: three year deal with USA (10/05 - 09/08) 12/06/2007: extended two years (10/08 - 09/10) 11/16/2009: extend four years (10/10 - 09/14) They've finalized the contract extensions roughly one year out from expiration, which means they're starting to enter the period where they want to get a deal done by next Oct-Dec. Looking at revenue: $131.5M TV Rights Fees (27%) $104.7M Live Events (22%) $78.3M PPV (16%) $54.4 Licensing (11%) $30.4 Home Video (6% and declining) $18.3M Venue Merch (4%) Everything else is below 5%, much of it flat or declining. I think when we've had this discussion before we bounced around that Raw (and to a degree SmackDown and PPV events) are strong contributors to the Live Events and Venue Merch buckets because the 50 or so Raw events a year (along with the SmackDown tapings and PPV) draw well above average crowds, and in turn do a big chunk of the venue Merch. We all agree that Vince focuses too much on Raw and Raw ratings, but I suspect that someone within the WWE Finance Department could pull together very compelling numbers on just how critical Raw is to the company's bottom line, both in terms of direct revenue (rights fees, live ticket sales, venue merch) and in terms of indirect revenue (it is the company's #1 promotional vehicle). Too much focus, but it does warrant considerable focus in the big picture of the company. John
  8. Nov 2012 Sweeps: 10/25/12 - 11/21/12 Odd day to roll it out. Even if it gets people to tune in next week, how are they going to sustain it?
  9. Wonder if their contract with USA is coming up for negotiations.
  10. Vince vs Punk... so... uh...
  11. Can someone give some background on why the shit is hitting the fan? I haven't been paying attention to the business side of the WWE this year. I do enjoy how it isn't Steph or Trip taking the hit. John
  12. I'm a little surprised that he didn't include two general buckets: * a Japanese promotion * a Lucha promotion Simply to give other buckets for people who might not have one of the above. And while the numbers don't have any relation to WON *subscribers* given it being an online site shared with Bryan where anyone could vote, these splits are kind of telling: 51.4% WWF Glory Eras: 38.4% WWF 1997-2001 13.0% WWF 1984-1990 That's pretty strong, and shouldn't be surprising. 48.5% Monday Night Wars: 38.4% WWF 1997-2001 10.1% WCW 1996-98 59.4% MNW+ECW: 38.4% WWF 1997-2001 10.9% ECW 1995-98 10.1% WCW 1996-98 These were the "hottest" periods of wrestling on TV, so it's not surprising it's this high. It's once you get beyond this that things are a problem for Current WWE. 25.0% 80s Expansion Era: 13.0% WWF 1984-1990 12.0% Crockett 1984-87 In turn, the mass of folks in these categories are two decades removed from their fandom. Still, putting the two together: 84.4% 80s Expansion or MNW Era: 38.4% WWF 1997-2001 13.0% WWF 1984-1990 12.0% Crockett 1984-87 10.9% ECW 1995-98 10.1% WCW 1996-98 Versus: 2.5% Current WWE That's brutal. It's actually worse: 13.0% Misc 80s Nostalgia: 4.8% Mid South 1982-1986 2.9% World Class 1983-1985 2.3% Georgia 1977-1981 1.9% Memphis 1980-1985 1.1% Crockett 1977-1983 Or worse: 38.0% 80s Era: 13.0% WWF 1984-1990 12.0% Crockett 1984-87 4.8% Mid South 1982-1986 2.9% World Class 1983-1985 2.3% Georgia 1977-1981 1.9% Memphis 1980-1985 1.1% Crockett 1977-1983 Which could be summed to create this: 59.4% 90s MNW+ECW 38.0% 80s Era 2.5% Current WWE That's worse than brutal. John
  13. Would this be the Mike Campbell that we all know, or is there another one who is a wrestling fan? John
  14. She's done this before: http://www.tmz.com/2012/10/08/qvc-host-cas...elevision-video Bottom video. It appears that they're aware of her fainting condition from the past history. Is it classless for them not to go to a break? Of course. Is it the same as someone having a heart attack on live tv and potentially dying? No. John
  15. Linda McMahon Campaign Leaks HuffPost Reporter's Emails To Bolster Its Ethical Bona Fides This is a hoot. Linda surrounding herself with assholes isn't a surprise. John
  16. Speaking of MS-1, did Dave do a big write up of Los Infernales when MS-1 died? Sub lapsed, wouldn't have caught it.
  17. Yeah, but it's always fun to stick a pin or two into a windbag like that. Self-proclaimed "experts" who make a ton of egregious factual errors are the worst. Exactly. And also to give people info if they care to hammer him over the head with it on his current website. John
  18. Funnier that Scott didn't write these at the time (1990) but instead as a RetroRant reviewing old PPVs. So if he had a clue, he would have been aware of Hansen's 1993 campaign... except of course he's clueless. John
  19. Per wiki, it was from Modern Day Periodicals. Looks like it wasn't a short run: http://www.dougcomicworld.com/INVENTORY-Wr...ngMagsSite.html Not a monthly, instead a few issues a year. John
  20. I love that one. And you have to know that the mag writers knew that Orndorff would eventually turn on him. John
  21. Considering she's been a long term drug used going back roughly a decade and a half, we shouldn't be surprised. :/
  22. I'm guessing the part about the GOP holding the Gov's office from 1995-2010, a similar statewide race, flew by in that post. John It didn't fly by, it's just not that relevant. Republicans held the Massachusetts governorship from 1990 to 2006, one of whom is the current Republican nominee for President. It doesn't mean that Massachusetts isn't a solidly blue state. MA isn't really applicable as their Senate seats weren't open elections in 1990-2006. Ironically, the first time a MA seat was open in nearly 30 years, a GOP candidate won the statewide office. Since Kerry won Tsongas' open seat: 1990 Gov: Weld ® 2003 Gov: Mitt ® 2007 Gov: Patrick (D) 2010 Sen: Brown ® So I'm not sure MA, given Mr. Brown, helps your argument. Is MA Blue? Of course. Is CT Blue? Yes, but less so. Both states have elected Republicans to major statewide offices in recent memory. Look: I wish those states were bluer, wish Brown never made it into the Senate and wish there wasn't even a 5% chance of Linda getting elected. I'm a DFH Democrat, so I have no love for her. John

5,002 paid) NWA World Champion Ric Flair defeated Dusty Rhodes San Francisco, CA - Civic Auditorium - December 30, 1986 (8,500; sell out) NWA World Champion Ric Flair defeated Dusty Rhodes That's 47 of them. From the first week in January to the last week of December. There were more of them between the two that results don't exist. One common thing was that the Flair-Dusty match was used to "open" new JCP towns. We got it in August at the first show at the Forum. Beyond that, there were also loads of tag main events... not just with Maggie but also with Nikita or the Road Warriors or the R'nR, etc. There also were things like his feuds with Tully and Bubba and Arn that were on top when there wasn't a Flair match on the card. Dusty was a main eventer in 1986. Often. More than anyone other than Flair. It's one of the reasons why some of us hated him back then. But anyway... SKeith is as usual talking out of his ass. John
