  1. I read somewhere (it may have been here) that each piece of footage in their archives is incredibly well documented with stop points, hashtags or whatever technology they use to mark stuff like quotes, angles and even missed spots, so they can quickly search for "cartoon" in a central database and everything related to that pops up and then you only have to locate the tapes. Not that I'd like to defend their incompetence in dealing with old footage in the network but I believe World Class hasn't been shown in order because of gaps in the library.

Yeah Brock didn't look healthy at all. Don't want to make creepy comparisons but this gave me the same vibe I had at a house show I went to in 2005 or 2006 where Benoit's head looked like it was going to explode after a very good and very physical 20 minute match with Chavo Guerrero Jr.
  3. I'm right now reading the "10 WWE Stars You Never Knew Were Announcers" article. It's taking me ages because I'm watching all the clips. I usually hate this type of stuff because like most people here I'm a supergeek and I know all of them were announcers. However, I really had no idea about most of these. I recommend anybody here to read it. Miss Elizabeth hosting Wrestling Spotlight with Vince was actually much better than I could have ever imagined. She did very well, was insightful (in a WWF 80s way) and played well back and forth with Vince all while looking as pretty and charming as ever. Le Studio is kind of fun, Frenchy has got a raspy Boricua accent.
  4. I have read the two WCW pieces - fun reads. Swoll is not the same Randy Thornton as the guy that wrestled in New Japan. He was literally just Master P's bodyguard.
  5. How well known was back in the day that Kerry Von Erich was wrestling with one foot missing? During a Legends of Wrestling roundtable (maybe the one about Families) Okerlund mentioned that people knew because of the AWA boot incident. However JJ Dillon apparently didn't know as Kerry would show up in wrestling gear and leave without showering, and that people just figured that was just Kerry being weird and coked up. The guy moved remarkably well and without actually knowing it would be hard to be sure of it, but I can't see how other wrestlers wouldn't know unless most figured it was just a crazy wrestling rumour.
  6. I think this is the answer. Knowing VKM's mindset I find it hard to believe that a lot of people would strongly push to him that "regional matches with guys working the arm for 15 minutes in smoke filled arenas" is going to bring numbers up. If anything I can see them completing the MSG shows collection at some point because that's their own legacy and now they are cool with Bruno.
  7. Guilty pleasure: AWA TV even when it is really bad. I even enjoy Lee Marshall’s commentary for some reason. Super Kendo. Every hardcore lucha fan online seems to hate him but I think he’s incredible. I can't stand Kato Kung Lee though. Guilty displeasure: When I was obsessed I used to watch ANYTHING: 8th generation VHS copies, anything in black and white (that wasn't supposed to be in BW), films with no sound, handhelds from the rafters, etc. but nowadays unless it’s something from TV in great quality I have problems focusing my attention and I end up playing with my phone or whatever. This is especially bad because a lot of great lucha from the 80s has popped up in handheld format but two days after watching the match I can’t even remember the finish. I can't watch faux-shoot stuff anymore. The "working the armbar" spots (where a guy fights his way out of it) to me look faker in a pro wrestling context than Super Porky's comedy.
  8. Oh shit, I usually avoid making 'THIS' posts like the sun, but you've taken so many words out of my mouth I'm stumped. So, yeah I agree. Nothing else to offer. THIS I also hate doing it but, yeah, THIS.

So, is Brie Bella the worst actress (/actor) in WWE?
  10. I always thought the DDT was a Black Gordman move.
  11. Nothing against the gimmicks. It's all WWE's fault. In today's world Hacksaw Jim Duggan would probably be a six month gimmick.
  12. Really? I thought the lutte classique 1968 was Aledo vs Kidd. I also thought I saw somewhere a tag match of Aledo as Kamikaze somewhere (I saw the start but not the entire thing). As a teenager I kept hearing stories about him from an old timer who lived the Spanish catch era.
  13. Awesome! Thanks for the heads up. Always happy to help out a dude with Super Raton in his signature.
  14. I'm curious about your opinion of Modesto Aledo when you get to his match with Georges Kidd. Spanish wrestling folklore always had him (as the Kamikaze) and Antonio Montoro as the two best workers. Montoro more a classic style, Aledo a flasher high flying style. The wrestling from Lebanon there was something else with commandos in full camo with AK's at ringside. Not surprising though but still weird. Partying in Beirut is one of the weirdest (and coolest) night outings I have ever had, you go to a nighclub and next to the private security guys you have two or three army guys in full gear and a tank in every major roundabout.
  15. Maybe this is just me being late to the party but the Santo retirement match is at the GUARDIANPURORESU youtube account. Santo/Gori Guerrero/Solitario/Huracan Ramirez vs Perro Aguayo/Misioneros de la Muerte. The whole thing (interview and full match) is almost an hour long. I don't expect this to be very good since three of the babyfaces are old geezers but this has been one of the lucha libre holy grails that we always KNEW was taped (two sets of highlights had surfaced in the last two decades) but had never popped up anywhere before.
  16. I only watch Raw (sometimes and ffwding a lot) and I am a Titus fan but I haven't seen him much recently. Last time that I saw him regularly he wasn't very good but the potential was there. Which Main Event or Superstars matches (with dates please!) are worth watching? I always thought that "hiding him" for months until he improved would be beneficial to him.
  17. I think the long hair and dumb grin is supposed to mock the 80s babyfaces. I have always thought he's doing a Vic Steamboat parody gimmick. The smile is tremendous. On the commitment part I disagree with you. I see Bray Wyatt or Rusev and I see a gimmick, I doubt they are like that in real life. I also see a gimmick in Bo but he makes me wonder if he's really THAT dumb. But he doesn't look like a star and I don't see the gimmick having more than a few months left, which is a constant problem with recent WWE gimmicks like Fandango, Adam Rose, Brodus Clay, probably Rusev and I'd say even the Wyatt family though these guys will be fine and grow over the gimmick.
  18. This is from the Observer: "The reason there is so much WWE content on YouTube, which some think has hurt network subscriptions and will hurt renewals, is it is a strategic decision by WWE. Rob Bernstein, the WWE Vice President of Digital and Print in March told the Digital Sports Fan Engagement Conference that they were not going after blocking archived YouTube videos of products that they own because they believe it’s better to leave them there and get fans hooked on the product. He said that the belief is that long-term, it is more beneficial and that fans who get exposed to the product that way will spend more money. There are differing opinions about that. There are some things that they do go after, particularly if it’s stuff they don’t want up." The "old content" rollouts of the network make even less sense now. I wonder if Vince has already mentally given up on this project.
  19. Who knows what this really means but Dave said that the rest of the SNME is planned to go up in September, They didn't dump all of them in one go so 1) the "free week" users didn't have access to all of them and 2) so there's something else to make people renew their subscriptions.
  20. No, they need a bunch of guys like him behind the content. It would solve the problems of releasing things non-chronologically, or with wrong names/dates. Not only that but Naylor having some kind of say on the network would probably mean we'd get USWA Texas and Global and fun stuff like that.
  21. This was a good listen. When Wyatt turns face they should pair the other two dudes with Zeb. That Family idea was gold. WWE really need to turn stuff upside down. Get rid of Orton, RVD, Miz, Jericho, Kane, Big Show, Sandow (who I like but he's done and the current gimmick is terrible), Alberto del Rio (only guy out of those that I really like but I don't think he's salvageable anymore), heel authority figures and start repackaging people and bringing new faces from NXT. Orton can be brought back after a long time but I can't see what could you do with the others. They are done as characters. I hate the Russo style resets but WWE is so boring and stale that they need to do something radical.
  22. I like having the SNME's and the ME's in order and in the same category but I am not sure what's stopping them from naming them The Main Event #1, #2... instead of numbering them after the original SNME 36 episode series.
  23. Pierroth Jr., Perro Aguayo (I imagine the dad too but never saw him live), Los Dinamita, Dr. Wagner Jr.
  24. They liked to check guys' attitude by having them job to jobbers before offering them a contract. WWF @ Sunrise, FL - October 9, 1994 (1,300) Bob Holly defeated Scott Norton They did the same thing to Chris Benoit (pre Radicalz jump) and probably several others I can't remember.
