What are your thoughts on making Wrestlemania a 2 day event?
flyonthewall2983 replied to rzombie1988's topic in Pro Wrestling
I think it would be a good idea, if they kept each show just at three hours. That seems the right amount of time for a big show like this, anything less would seem too little, anything more too much. Maybe have the first night on the Network only, and have the 2nd one for PPV as well. As far as the Hall of Fame, I don't see any reason it needs to be a big arena show anymore, especially with the Network airing it every year. Get it before a smaller audience, maybe in that much-rumored physical Hall of Fame, and you'll have something that can make for more compelling TV. -
So...who for next year? Undertaker, obviously. I'm hearing some things that he should be the only one inducted next year, like they did for Andre. I hope not, but I can understand why if they did.

Is it just me, or did anyone else feel that the marriage proposal would have worked better if Cena and Bella lost the match? BTW, I believe it was legit.
-
Glad he hung up his spurs tonight. I really hoped for a long time that New Orleans was it, but maybe that was the beginning of the end. Plus this was a much better send-off. Maybe not the match itself but the exit was cool.

I thought it was funny if the IC match went long and they did the intro and everything during it.

How would you have booked a babyface manager?
flyonthewall2983 replied to rzombie1988's topic in Pro Wrestling
Are we not counting Jimmy Hart's run as Hogan's manager from 93-95? And didn't Fuji manage Yokozuna briefly in '96? I remember him coming out at WM 12 with a 2-sided flag, one Japanese, one American. Not saying they worked necessarily, but it happened. Not to forget, Fuji and Heenan's brief feud in 1991 https://youtu.be/fmpRW-888x4?t=49m21s https://youtu.be/nT20L2omwYk?t=1h30m30s -
I didn't see any, but during the "red carpet" pre-show, Mick Foley tried to photobomb him.

Sting had what would qualify as a memorable WWE run. So did everyone in the Horsemen, except JJ Dillon though he obviously had an important role backstage. There wasn't one bit of footage of DDP's WWE run at all.
-
Unless I'm mistaken, DDP could be the first inductee, from looking at the video package they made for him, to be in solely on the strength of his WCW run. There's obviously the DDP Yoga angle to it as well, so that's two things outside of WWE he has done. They even had clips of the Rock & Roll Express during their brief WWF runs.

Lawler's less of a host than he is, as someone else here suggested elsewhere, a master of ceremonies. He just introduced people, basically. The show is long enough, he or whoever hosts doesn't need monologues. This night isn't about cutting promos, it's about people's careers. That gets lost on the audience unfortunately.

Steamboat didn't sound very prepared at all which makes me wonder if he was the first choice.

I think putting the show on Friday is a good idea. Let it go long, and not have to worry about the talent being up too late the night before the big show. I have no issues with long intros or speeches, as long as the people have something to say. And by and large, they all did. I do wish Cena and Angle went a big longer, that was a little disappointing for me as it seemed to be too concerned with fan participation at times than it was honoring the guy's career. Jim Cornette was the MVP tonight, hands down. He didn't bury anybody and he was just glowing out there. It showed and it felt genuine.
-
I was really happy that DDP thanked guys like Jody Hamilton and Buddy Lee Parker
-
It was Reigns No that was during the R&R's speech.
-
Was it Kevin Owens? Is that the joke? It went by in a flash, but I doubt it
-
The camera cut to someone clearly bored in the audience for a few seconds during Cornette's speech

Something to Wrestle with Bruce Prichard

What else I really appreciate is something that kind of underlines this week's episode. Sometimes they do a few takes on a show if the first one wasn't good enough. Other than the Carlos Mencia incidents on Marc Maron's podcast, I haven't heard of that being done before (though that was for completely different reasons). -
or Hayes will be referee. Bischoff and Cornette seem more diametrically opposed to each other than just about anyone I can think of in wrestling, and that includes Russo and Cornette.

I'll be honest, I wasn't huge on Conrad at first but now I appreciate what he does. He did some things in early shows that I'm not a fan of, but he's improved as far as I'm concerned. I like that he talks money and business, and yes even how much guys get paid, it helps paint the picture. The one they did on the '97 Royal Rumble for example, really opened my eyes to how they promoted shows, and just promoting practices in pro wrestling in general. -

He comes from behind the broadcast booth in WCW to manage the Horsemen during the beginning of the NWO angle. He cuts interviews for weeks and weeks about how he was right about Hogan all along, and bring up his bad neck. Don't do anything with him physically but tease it all the time to get heat on the NWO guys. -

What the hell does Piper mean when he says something about a member of Demolition looking like a "Rachel Perry reject"? -
Recently discovered on reddit that not only is Tony Halme in Die Hard With A Vengeance, but so is Damien Demento! For those that have seen it, you can see him briefly during the car chase in the rain, driving the Mercedes..

Think we'll see a deluge of stuff being WrestleMania week?

I marked out a little at Bruce saying he got hot at Hillbilly Jim's music being overdubbed
