  1. There was one six-man tag at an untelevised Omni that was won by the Horsemen and that was the end of it. Michael Hayes got a brief house show run later that year against Flair but Gordy and Buddy were already gone from JCP so it was more of a "Hayes is the contender of the month" deal than "Freebirds vs Horsemen" Thanks. I'm guessing they planned for more than a lone six man tag given there were multiple TV promos dedicated to it, but also not surprise that things with the Birds didn't work out at the time. To add to this, Hayes quit before the Flair feud could start. Which is what got Sting his chance to feud with Flair.
  2. It got a big story in The Wrestler, mentioning the Freebirds loss and planning a counter attack. But Crockett was still set on burying UWF guys.
  3. I watched Koko Ware vs Ric Flair for the NWA title in Memphis. Flair said Lawler and Dundee ducked him because they did not want to lose. So they send Koko out. Dusty is at ringside trying to give Ware some credibility. Despite this being a very good match, the fans are dead because everybody knew Koko was there to lose. The finishing stretch was ridiculous with Dundee interfering and Koko getting a leg on the rope. Ric Flair should be able to pin Koko Ware cleanly. This is why Crockett started limiting Flair's bookings.
  4. Money In The Bank is already watered down. At least having a MITB for women is it stops having two briefcases for the men. But they wimped out on the Ellsworth/Carmella idea and ended up doing the same heel cash in they have done for over a decade. That is me editorializing too much. I should just say I find the concept stale. The last time I was really into it was when Damien Sandow won it. Because I did not know if he could successfully cash in. I really enjoyed his match with Cena. Sandow really got across a desperation, because he knows he will never be this close again. I hate how Sandow gets crapped on now. I am watching him in OVW and he was talented with a lot of hustle. He would take any gimmick that was given to him and run with it.
  5. Dawho I will get to you. Matt gave me One Man Gang vs Jumbo Tsuruta Gang starts off on the offensive immediately. Which is a bit different than an American match, but I have to keep remembering Japan does not have a traditional face/heel dynamic. Gang is probably the best next to Andre himself at maximising his size and making his every move count. So everything he does to Jumbo has huge effect. At some point Jumbo gets on offense and has a sorta heel in peril. But it is logical he would go for Gang's legs. But watching Gang fight from underneath is not the most exciting stuff, but Gang works hard to make it exciting. Eventually Gang gets back up and they are clashing for control. They do a really good vertical suplex spot. At this point Jumbo starts eating Gang up. These things might fall apart if the heel struggled. But Gang gives Jumbo what he wants and bumps and sells big on everything. It ends with Gang counted out and bleeding since it is 80s All Japan. Very good match and the fans love it.
  6. I thought him ripping on the Enzo video was funny. I don't disagree with him on comedy shit, but I rather hear him talk about stuff he likes. But I figured this was gonna happen after Omega made that tweet about allowing Cornette to talk about him. Nick Bockwinkel mentioned how he knew guys from his dad's generation who would criticize Nick's generation for doing too many tackles. That they were going to hurt themselves. But everyone has to learn for themselves about slowing down.
  7. Nope. It actually happened, what do you nope? Do you mean you weren't, because you are not all people? Some might have been tired of Hogan, but more fans loved him than hated him. By 92/93 he was wearing his welcome out.
  8. The first year they had Edge in a tournament for a title shot. Reasoning being he did not want to use the case if it could be avoided As I remember, they did not make it sound like you could use the shot any time.
  9. Really, I always hated that move. Who does a good one? I always remember it looking like the person giving the move hitting the ground first and breaking the fall of the person taking it. It's on the list with all of the complete shot/downward spiral/reverse STO moves that don't look that devastating to me. Brad Armstrong, Bret Hart, Ron Starr apparently. Brad Armstrong could hit his from anywhere.

Ole was a host on the Georgia show and has a charm to him. As a face he has a lot of credibility because he never seems like he is bullshitting you. It also makes his heel turns hurt more.
  11. A way to freshen up Money In The Bank is to not allow former WWE Champions or MITB winners from entering.
  12. I don't know why I blanked on Chris Pratt in Jurassic World.
  13. Would love to see the Russian Legsweep make a comeback as a finisher. If its done right it looks devastating.
  14. Inregards to Batista vs Rock as a movie star. How many movies has been carried by Batista's name alone? You don't need to like Rock's output, but he is clearly a bigger star on numbers alone. Nothing against Marvel movies per se. But none of the stars in these movie have half as much star power in their other movies.
  15. Vince was only concerned about the time slot, so he probably didn't care about the tape library then. Also I was under the impression that Turner owned the rights to at least everything Georgia taped at the WTBS studios as Dave has mentioned several times that WWE owned everything from 70s Georgia to Florida/Central States/UWF with the WCW purchase. There was a WCW Classics show on Turner South, a station designed to be like classic TBS. Most episodes would have late 70's/early 80's GCW and aired after WCW had went under, so that would make sense. Except one episode had the Windham/Flair Worldwide draw.

Brisco looks like he could have wrestled another six years and been very good. Loved the build up to this, with Brisco not being a heel, but being vicious in his treatment of Armstrong. You can see why he was such a great touring champion. Jake Roberts booked all this and is a testament to his mind. Every tourney match had a purpose, whether it built the tournament or to the rest of the show.
  17. Don't know where this goes. But been watching a ton of Georgia wrestling. I think its a disgrace Ole is not in the Observer HOF, unless he went in and I missed it. I would think creating the Road Warriors and being a founding member of the Horsemen puts him at worst on par with Ultimo Dragon and slightly under Angle. But he drew a lot of money as a performer and a booker. Why should WCW be held against him? In the first few years, Herd sabotaged everyone trying to draw in WCW. Also some questions on Vince buying the Georgia territory, He obviously got the tape library. But when Jim Crockett paid for the time slot, did he buy the company and get the tape library? I do remember occasionally seeing Georgia clips on WCW TV. Does anyone know how that worked.
  18. I find it has good action, even if the booking is less than good.
  19. I started reading graphic novels about 3/4 years ago. I'm 33 now. I started comics at 25. I stand by what I and he said.
  20. Seems like WWE should try to help these companies. ROH and TNA are the best developmentals WWE has had in a decade.
  21. A kind soul is uploading 1984 Georgia with the King Kong Bundy face turn. Which is really similar to the Nia Jax face turn, but with better execution. Ellering is really vicious toward Bundy, so when Bundy attacks you get it. This was something Jake Roberts was very proud of booking. He felt that a guy like Bundy was an outcast and the fans could identify with him. One thing I like is Bundy's personality does not really change. He is still kind of a jerk but now you have heels trying to get the 15,000 for slamming him. Along with the Road Warriors having a real physical threat. Ellering is a great heel manager and its a shame he was stuck as a face for so long.
  22. That is Anakin territory. Any older and you get those fans that never get it. Because they are incapable of believing or being absorbed in the moment. There are exceptions obviously. But that tends to be my experience.
  23. If someone makes it to being an adult without being a wrestling fan, its probably not for them. Its like being a Jedi, they are too old to begin the training.

I would like to see the Sabu/RVD vs Furnas and Kroffat rematch uncut.
  25. I enjoy Attitude Era WWF, I mean 2000 WCW. Though it was very hard to abandon my ideas of Kayfabe in the context of the shows.
