  1. The reason Austin held a grudge at Owen was he told him specifically not to do that piledriver. A safe guess being because he injured Chono doing the exact same move.
  2. I remember the finish bugged me because Luger never quit and you had Nick Patrick ring the bell and nobody questioned it. Arn and Flair beat up the Outsiders and never return to save Savage.
  3. Johnny Smith always seemed like he was on the verge of making it. I remember I actually thought he was Davey Boy smith's cousin and naturally he would join the Hart Foundation in 97.
  4. In fairness to the magazines I thought they were fair to World Class. They just said they would not give them World Title Status.
  5. I think Kaufman woulda got a kick out of it.
  6. Another match that pissed me off was putting the Scorpio/Tanaka match on Hardcore TV. There is a really good Raven/Mike Awesome vs Impact Players match that was on the syndicated show.
  7. I think a lot of guys were cycled between the syndicated show and TNN. Most weeks Hardcore TV was much better than TNN. Once the writing was on the wall they startedd withholding the best stuff from TNN. Which I never got, that only hurts the fans.
  8. I like Hostile City Showdown but hate the rest, and few people love Sabu and RVD more than me.
  9. Well Jericho today would since he started the monotone heel craze. He does it well but the imitators make me wish he never stopped being Y2J. I think Taz's debut in the WWF was perfect. Had the perfect balance of anticipation and surprise that WWE has been able to do since.
  10. Barry said it was his. Or I think they came up with it together. The Blackjacks was a punishment for slowly changing the gimmick.
  11. Story goes it was done to protect Vader since Shawn refused to job. Shawn denies it but I don't really believe him about anything from that time period.
  12. Found a ton of old wrestling magazines today. One thing I learned is the Cobra Clutch was originally the Indian Sleeper. I never knew that I thought Sergent Slaughter invented it.
  13. Dusty was really smart in pushing Dustin. Started him off low on the card and he gradually rose up the ranks. If Dusty had kept the book DuStin woulda been WCW champion by 95 and it would of not looked out of place. I watch a match Dustin and Kendall Windham had in 88 vs the Original Midnight Express and Dustin looked really good. I would of not guessed he had only started six months before. Speaking of lost workers. Watching 87 NWA and I can't believe Kendall Windham never made it. He was not as good as Barry (not many people are( but he was really good. They could of made better use of him after Barry left for the WWF.
  14. And that was the final nail in me taking Keller seriously about anything.
  15. I like that Rovert has dug up the old "all opinions are equal" argument and remade it into the "wrong opinions" argument.
  16. They arent going to reveal it. They like having the voice in the sky set up angles without having to make any sense.
  17. Even with FCW there is a chance you could impress somebody in WWE even if they have somebody else picked out.
  18. Was Ole always that terrified of doing decisive finishes on tv?
  19. I downloaded this 1990 NWA/WCW Pro compilation and have been watching it each night. Thought I could share my thoughts and maybe start some discussion. First few matches are squashes and really shows why I prefer WWF squashes to WCW. WWF squashes are straight ass kicking unless it is a higher up jobber. WCW tries to give the pretense of competition and it is not fun. Lex Luger vs Barry Horowitz This was a mess with the Horsemen and the Dudes with Attitude coming to ringside. Junkyard Dog looked so uninterested in everything. Like he did not even know why he was in the ring. Rock n' Roll Express vs Doom This was a good match. Not quite as good as the GAB 90 match. Not much to say but Doom did a good job working over the Morton and Gibson and the RnR timed their comebacks well. . For some reason The World Tag team Champions could not beat the RnR Express. Even though the Horsemen was getting cleanish wins over them in February. Actually win was Flair removed as head booker? Maybe that is what changed. The Fabulous Freebirds vs The Southern Boys http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xgjglt_fr...s-nwa-pro_sport This is a great match. It is the first in a best of 3 for a Southern tag trophy so that means at least a decisive finish. The Southern Boys were super over. I almost think they were sabotaged with the gimmick change to the Young Pistols. The Freebords were different too a year later. Can't put my finger on it but they lacked the energy they had a year before. I think this could be better than the Midnights match from GAB 90. Mean Mark Callous vs Wildfire Tommy Rich Mean Mark was set to or had just wrestled Lex Luger at the ppv yet he could not get a win over Tommy Rich. Why was WCW so afraid of doing any sort of clean finish? Taker already shows he potential to be a superstar. No surprised the WWF snatched him up. Tommy Rich did look good here too. He was perfect for his spot. A good solid guy to put in the under card and have good matches. Like I said they did some sorta double count out where nobody looked good. Candyman Brad Armstrong vs Barry Windham This a good match with Barry looking great and Brad Armstrong looking good despite being dressed like a candy cane. I mean candy man is not a bad nickname but why the striped tight? Or at least put him in a peppermint mask. Anyway this match actually has a finish with Barry holding the ropes on an attempted sunset flip. Ric Flair, Arn Anderson & Sid Vicious vs Very Unfortunate Jobbers One of the jobbers is Bob Holly and nnother is a Batten twin. I finally figured out why Sid did not work as a Horsemen. He was suppose to be the upstart but he looks like a monster and hurt Arn's role as the Enforcer. Another appearance by the Dudes after the Horsemen keep beating on the jobbers after the bell. Rock n' Roll Express vs The Midnight Express They are going thru the motions here. But Midnights and RnRs going thru the motions is still really good. Sting vs Keith Hart Sting has just won the belt. I don't think he was ready to be champion yet. They probably shoulda had Luger beat Flair and Sting win the US title. Barry Windham vs Lex Luger Barry Windham was back in WCW for at least six months without any type of angle or feud. Even when he got one he was just taking Flair's place in the feud with Doom. Just pointing this out since Barry is the best worker in the company. Him and Luger have a good match. Neither guy gets an advantage but good back and forth with Lex winning narrowly by a count out. Luger seems like the man at this point. I think Flair probably did feel threatened by Lex. 1990 WCW reminds me of 2001 WWF. The booking is terrible but the roster is so talented the shows are still good.
  20. Here is a question. What value do the divas really have? They no longer do merchandise, ratings fall whenever they are on screen and they are no kind of attendance or ppV (not that anyone is now) draw. In the PG era they can't even be used as T & A Yet they are as big a part of the show as they were in 2000. They should get rid of most of the women for a few years til the novelty returns.
  21. We'll see, maybe beggers can be choosers.
  22. I have really enjoyed his work in ECW. If he is on a card I can usually count on it for a good match. He was good at working a face inperil in tag matches and a good brawler. He could do pretty much anything asked of him.
