  1. Don Owen doesn't believe in pagaentry. He wants Barry Windham, so he's taking him with his first round draft pick.

    Bob Holly

    Better than Takada.
  3. I literally do not care.
  4. Probably right. I am planning my strategy of packing Portland with underrated miscreants.
  5. When did Maleo Huertas debut?
  6. I always felt Savage was the real point of origin for this stuff and I love Savage. One thing I will say is that I don't think it's self evident that Shawn had more great matches than Austin. It's possible, but I don't think picking Austin wold be odd at all. Michaels as a Rocker was better than Austin in the DA/Blondes/mid-card title holder. Best five matches v. best five matches I'd take Austin without much hesitation. I do wonder if people prefer Austin's 01 to Michaels 96. I probably do but I haven't watched Austin's 01 in ages.
  7. Tenta is a guy who under delivered largely because of booking. Williams is a guy who under delivered because he was really inconsistent. I think Williams was better on merit, but he's also overrated, and one of the more disappointing wrestlers ever in the sense that at his best he was an all timer, but when he was bad he fucked sucked.
  8. California indie Premier is live streaming a show on youtube right now
  9. I would lean toward Buddy in 83. Getting to see him work face and upstage DK in workrate matches really adds to the legend of Buddy. Fujinami and Bock might be my 2 and 3.
  10. One of my favorite Southern indies (Empire) is running a tournament on 8/7 and 8/8 in Chattanooga. So far they have Moose, Kongo Kong, KT Hamill, Gunner and Gunner Miller announced for the show. They are slow release announcing participants based on Facebook likes. Here is the link to their page: https://www.facebook.com/ScenicCityInvitational?fref=ts
  11. I like all of this, most of them quite a bit. Only one I think we'd be far apart on on first glance is Inoki v. Hansen which I think was a good match, but nowhere near great. To Pete's point I think both Flair v. Fujinami matches are really disappointing. I actually just watched Superbrawl last week and thought it was one of the worst matches on that show. Steiners v. Sting/Luger holds up as a fun bombfest, but I don't think it's an all time classic.
  12. There are Dory matches you have really liked that I thought were ok at best. I think Dibiase v Savage series is on scale a disappointment, with nothing standing out as worth going out of the way to see. There have been others in the last 6 months or so where we are really far apart but I can't remember specifics offhand.
  13. At this point if Parv reviews something and doesn't like it I assume I will love it and vice versa.
  14. Colon isn't anywhere close to the top level in 89, I just think it's a really impressive year for him given who he was working.
  15. Here is the real question - can I draft Bobby Bass?
  16. Best regular WWF tag team of all time. Tremendous in the AWA. Will make my top ten, could conceivably make my top five.
  17. I'm keeping the greatest wrestler who ever lived, Playboy Buddy Rose
  18. I don't think Luger is really a contender here, but I almost feel like he deserves mention for having a career year. I don't think he had as good a year in the ring as Flair, but in a way I think it was more impressive. He turned heel and really came into his own as a character. He had good-to-great matches v. Barry and Kendall Windham, Tommy Rich, Brian Pillman, Michael Hayes, Ricky Steamboat, Brad Armstrong and Dick Murdoch. he didn't have the one home run match on ppv needed to break into the top tier, but I still think it's worth mentioning. I also think Colon had a really impressive 89. WWC was on the decline business wise and in terms of talent they could get. As a result Colon was put into feuds/angles with Leo Burke, Abudda Dein, and the abysmal Steve Strong. He had good, and even borderline great matches, with all of them, and to some degree the matches felt like they pulled him out of his comfort zone. He also has a really good match with Jason The Terrible from that year, and a GREAT Loser Leaves Town match with Ayala. Again it's not going to get him above Tenryu, Hansen, Flair, but he's another guy who's year was more impressive than some of those guys in some ways (taking into account opponents limitations, nature of the promotion, et). It's been a while since I watched anything, but it kind of feels like Dandy could be a number one pick I could get behind.

    Kurt Angle

I actually enjoyed Angle as the roid raged/hyper athlete character in ECW at the time. No clue how I would like it now.
  20. I swear I'm not picking on Parv or Ted here, but I really can't see him (or Savage) as WOTY contenders in 88. They definitely had some matches I liked, but nothing that I absolutely loved, nor is it a feud that jumps off the page at me. I think Lex is a real stretch too to be fair. I will say that I thought Fujinami was brilliant in the 9/12/88 elimination match, and that was probably the last true "best in the world" level performance of his at least in the 80's.
  21. You need to keep this coming, because I have a lot to say about some of these years.
  22. ICW shouldn't be a problem. People can say it was practically dead, and it was, but this is based at least partially in fantasy. What I mean by that is there is no reason the promotion has to die.

    LA Park

He's not a cruiserweight. Though you called him a light heavyweight.
  24. Anyone got link to the 75 Hofffman match ?
  25. I just think it's hard to respond to your claims because I'm not sure exactly what they are. For example who is "undervaluing" suplexes relative to Lawler's punches and in what way?
