  1. I think my main problem is that I've been watching SO much 80 Memphis, 85 NWA (though the Saturday Night crowd had some bad elements even then) and 85 Mid-South... somewhere around 10 shows a week in total, that watching a 2011 studio audience is soul crushing. The fact that Husky is over with them in what seems to be a mostly earnest, non-ironic way is a HUGE testament to him. FCW's tv crowds are horrible. They are almost always quiet but they do tape 3 1 hr shows and it can get repetitive. Husky gets a good reaction and so does Seth Rollins, Bo and Richie Steamboat before he turned heel. I shouldn't have said that Mark Henry was the only reason. I'm a fan of guys like Dolph, Del Rio, Sin Cara azul and Negro, and even Vickie Guerrero. I'm usually a HHH defender but even I'm getting sick of him. And like Dylan said, the writing is just awful now. Plus I think I've listened to too much Bryan Alvarez and his negativity has gotten to me.
  2. Without Mark Henry, WWE would be almost unwatchable now. Still better than most promotions these days but stale as hell. FCW is better.
  3. Is Vinny still the editor for the Observer? So many mistakes in this weeks issue. It seems it gets worse by the week. Like the use of "In" instead of "I"
  4. The kind of refs I can't stand are the ones that are so old that it takes them 5 minutes to make a 3 count. Like Bronco Lubrich, Frank Morrell and Paul Morton. A lot of CMLL refs are like that now. Just ruins the flow of the match. I also can't stand rudo refs. Old School Tirantes is the exception.
  5. Besides Punk, I gotta go with Averno. He's single handily carried CMLL on his back with the Mascara feud after Mistico left. As a selfish point and I'm not joking, I'd put Konan Big on the list just cause he was able to do what so many people and companies, even WWE did and almost sell out Arena Coliseo Monterrey with his feud with Simbolo. But I guess that would count as Box Office Draw and not Wrestler of the year.
  6. I used to be a huge Flair fan till I saw those shitty Terry Taylor matches from the Mid South set. Will's Sets really opened my eyes to a lot of guys. Some that are probably better than Flair.
  7. Jumbo Tsuruta, Akira Taue & Mighty Inoue vs Stan Hansen, Eric Embry & Scotty the Body (LYNCH LOCAL TV #2) 8-29-1990
  8. A couple run ins and probably cause of the HHH/Punk feud. All I know is I'm kinda looking forward to Raw this week.
  9. It's really close between Flair and Lawler. I'd probably go something like this: Lawler Flair Savage Dundee Murdoch Hogan Eric Embry and Austin Idol would by high on my list. Tommy Rich too just for his heel run in 87. What's the case for Tito Santana? I know he's a good worker but was he good pre WWF?
  10. I just don't get why all the people that walked off on Raw last night are appearing on SD this Friday? Isn't HHH in charge of that show too?
  11. I don't get why the top rope kneedrop would be a DQ since wasn't the top rope rule gone by this time? Good match, especially towards the end.
  12. I want Dutch's Tennessee Stud jacket. Cornette trying to kiss ass is always entertaining.
  13. I think this video is from 1990 but it's just wow. So cheesy.
  14. I watch a lot of indy Lucha so you got guys like Negro Navarro and Solar who are great at 50+. On the other side are guys like Herodes and Sangre Chicana in Monterrey and can't even take a bump. The other day I was watching the Dos Caras 40th anniversary match and his brother Sicodelico couldn't even walk the ropes. Granted it was only a one match deal but he shouldn't have been in the ring. Konnan's another one.
  15. I think Ricky vs Masa actually did happen in a singles match. Probably wasn't taped though. My favorite Current heel in wrestling is Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley in FCW. Also before he was fired, Lucky Cannon made a good heel too.
  16. Cena vs Undertaker? I would have said Cena/Rey but I doubt Rey is coming back before Mania.
  17. I would just think being a WWE diva would be easier than risking being arrested for being a drug mule for Matt Hardy. Maybe I'm wrong.
  18. Nice to see Koko dress for the occasion. Found it funny when Lawler said if he wanted to be in the WWF, he could be considering what happened a couple days later. Heel Koko rules.
  19. So was it known that Flair was leaving at the time? He seems so calm and collected. Kinda weird.
  20. For a rookie, Aikyama is pretty damn good. The match was ok but nothing special. Liked the ceremony at the end.
  21. This reminded me of the USWA/SMW matches between PG13 and the Thugs that took place on smaller SMW shows. Except replace someone like Tracy Smothers with Bobby Blaze. Without looking at the match listings, I thought Hotta was Toyota for some reason. Anyways, liked the match for the atmosphere and it was all action.
  22. This was fine but it was kinda sad seeing Terry Gordy like this. He wasn't post stroke Terry yet but you could tell something was wrong. Liked the finish a lot.
  23. Best thing I've seen on this board is Krisz's "Vince vs the World" topic and Dylan's look back at Jerry Blackwell. I'm ok with the first two cause it seems here that most of the people are more level headed compared to places like DVDVR. Not a big fan of option 3. Lots of rehash arguments and too man TL:DR posts. Yearbook threads are ok but kinda hard to comment on when you agree with everything in the first post.
  24. Didn't Reby turn down a WWE contract to be with Matt? She seems nutty.
