  1. Low Ki in a comedy type match is new. This never really got going as the ref was awful and out of position a lot. Dixie doing a southern gimmick and being a babyface in Jersey is weird. Never seen Chino before but he's another one of those guys using NSYNC music in 2000. Low Ki is like Danielson and AJ in 2000. Awkward but has potential.
  2. It's weird to see them turn Villano 3 tecnico just soon after the mask loss. I guess it makes sense given that was such a big match and it's hard to boo him. Shocker and Bestia were great in this attacking the tecnicos and bullying Villano. Perro Sr bleeds for some reason early in the match. Los Capos interfere in the third fall and attack the tecnicos. CMLL seems to know what the next 6 months of feuds will be based on this match.
  3. This was pretty chaotic compared to other cage matches. Lots of awkward moves but it made sense with the feud. Spanky bleeds a ton and Dragon gets his masked ripped off. I still get a kick out of the Board of Education. One guy looks like he's from the mean street posse and the other looks like he's Gangrel's son. They were pretty good foils for American Force 2000. Wonder whatever happened to them?
  4. A short match but told a good story and built up wargames at Hardcore hell. AJ's got a lot of flips and Onyx does some nice counters of those flips. AJ is like a better version of Ric Blade without the stupid bumps. Team NCW looks really weak compared to the Elite and team NWA. I agree with Loss about Wildside being a better OVW than OVW.
  5. Weird seeing a CZW show with families and women. The Ki bump might be the scariest thing I've seen and I've seen Joe lider matches. I thought the ref was holding the ladder but I guess not. Ric blade then tops that with the basketball hoop leg drop. That guy must the high as hell to do that. Then Ki kicks out at the finish but the ref says it's 3 anyways. Just a mess of a match and CZW as hell.
  6. It's amazing what a heel turn does for Wolfie. Just a couple months earlier, he was a boring babyface feuding with Kurt Angle. The parking lot brawl was crazy cause it happened in the rain in front of fans. Ali almost falls off the truck with Rob when it speeds away. As for the match, it was a typical moondog match with Derrick taking some nasty bumps on the ladder. Finish was nice. Not often that Dave Brown gets involved in the action.
  7. Everytime I see him, it amazes me that WWF did nothing with Russ McCullough. He's gotta be bigger than Big show right? King and Lee make a good tag team and Rogers was good at directing traffic. However, the commentary and ref situation continue to kill this promotion dead. Flash looked like a top guy though.
  8. Hamrick takes the craziest bumps. That moonsault ruled and he even does a flip when Morton kicks his leg. Nice to see the legendary Romeo Bliss make a cameo. He's right up there with Cham-pain as one of the sleaziest guys in Wildside history.
  9. A part of me was wondering when the fight was going on in the crowd and the guys were laying in the ring, why didn't the ref start counting 20? I mean there were no submissions and they were just laying there. Unacceptable. I don't remember ever hearing an announcer on an indie show tell the crowd to sit down. As for the match, it was violent as expected. Ian just gets destroyed and is bleeding everywhere. I think this match went a little long and the finish was just awful. Indie version of the neverending NWO beatdowns.
  10. These guys remind me of the OVW guys like Dinsmore and Conway. They are good to really good wrestlers but have very little charisma. Even with the women in both corners I couldn't get into this. It was long with moves and the story didn't make any sense. Modest had potential while Morgan looks like a white version of La Fiera without the great talent.
  11. Hey it's Twitter's favorite Lucha underground fan Vinnie Massaro. This was fun in a 2000s indie type way. Boyce and Thompson have some sweet double teams and Vinnie takes a beating yet looks competent. That 3d looked very painful.
  12. Wolfie is at his best as a heel so he was on fire here. He finally gets to tell Corey to shut the hell up. Mo cuts a promo while holding a cigar and a bottle of milk it looks like. Seven freezes during his promo and I feel bad for him. As for the match, it was nice to see Derrick King be competitive against one of the top stars. He's bulked up compared to his young gun run in 1999. I liked how they teased the ref bump but didn't make it the finish. Power pro doing the "4 flat tires" gimmick with Dave Brown of all people was funny.
  13. I remember this match being built up in PWI when Quack kept teasing retirement. Of course, the announcer keeps beating the viewer over the head with that and Don Montoya losing 105 pounds since November 1999. This was really bad. Like the worst HHH self-conscious epic main events bad. Montoya tried but Quack kept wanting to get his shit in. No reason for this match to be this long even if it's a supposed "retirement" match.
  14. I agree on Loss's points about how this was a hardcore match with not much hardcore and the crowd ate it up. That's impressive for 2000. Ki in 2000 is interesting. He doesn't really change his style depending on the opponent and is almost always the same. I wanted to see Mack throw Ki like a long dart but it wasn't meant to be. Good match and I enjoyed the announcer. Usually, indie announcers aren't very good like Cornette or Steve martin but this guy did a good job.
  15. It seemed like Robert Gibson started the match as a heel but once Ricky tagged in, he became a babyface. That was weird. Average match for sure but a good one. Rock N rolls could still go in 2000.
  16. That clown stuff was vintage Antonio Pena. I don't know what it was about but it was hilarious. Only in AAA will you get clowns throwing frisbees, fighting each other and girls in bikinis standing around. I remember this Apache/Oscar feud being legendary at the time but looking back, it's not as good as Apache/Billy boy. Apache bleeds buckets in the third fall and it turns into the slow count classic. Tirantes wouldn't be so bad if he was consistent. Earlier in the match, he was slow counting Apache and now in the third he was fast counting. I liked the rain storm match better but this was pretty good too. Great feud.
  17. OVW really did a hanging match with a black wrestler? How did that not win most disgusting promotional tactic in 2000? As for the match, it was typical OVW. The crowd doesn't even react to anything anymore because it doesn't matter.
  18. So is Eddie Golden a fake relative of Jimmy Golden? That's tremendous. Sadly this match isn't tremendous. Some basic stuff befoe the ref bumps and the run ins start. That guy thunder just dwarfed poor Onyx.
  19. I felt bad for Dawn. Between the wrestlers doing sexual advances and getting groped by the fans making her entrance, it was not a good night. Corino is in his streetfight dusty gear which I thought meant he would bleed but it wasn't meant to be. This was a basic ECW house show style match for another promotion. I wonder if Jeff Jones was the indie liason like Baby Richard is with CMLL? Two bad finishes in a row from MCW.
  20. I just don't understand how Matthews and York were so hyped in 2000. I guess it's cause the look and they were doing high flying moves. I thought the Holy Rollers look better of the two teams. So I think the ref blew the finish the first time so they had to restart the match. Then they do another screwy finish. Gotta love indie wrestling.
  21. The entrances and intro mic work went 10 minutes alone. That's indie wrestling, baby. Ian Rotten is still fat as hell here compared to how he was later in 2001. I'm not sure why they had thumbtacks spread in the ring but it's IWA so that's alright. Some nice brawling here including Ian just destroying terry with a chair shot. The crowd is hot throughout including popping huge for the flaming table. Thanks to the crowd and how this wasn't long I liked the match.
  22. The wrestling was fine but my god that finish. Who would want to go to a house show when the top babyface ref is fighting toe to toe with one of the lead heels? It just makes Flash look bad and while watching this, I was waiting for the bullshit finish and it finally happened. It's like Cornette and Russo were battling to see who can book the worst finishes. At least with Russo, the refs didn't influence every match. OVW is by far the worst promotion in 2000 so far.
  23. You know, as great as Ricky Morton was as a babyface, I think he was better as a heel. RNR do a wonderful job destroying Rick's knee and bringing a traditional southern tag in the year 2000. Bad Attitude were ok here but I seem to remember them being better. I love that they were working a NWA invasion angle in 2000. Did Jim Cornette ever show up?
  24. God Bailey's promo killed me at the beginning. Only he can do something like that. AJ is still green but man some of the stuff he was doing was impressive for a guy with his experience. Especially his flying moves. Onyx was a guy I thought that always had potential but never made it. Probably would have been a huge star in WCW if he came around 5 years earlier. The announcer who I think is Steve Martin was channeling his best Corey Maclin. Good match with a eh finish.
  25. I can give or take on Porky comedy matches especially the ones in the 2000s. However, this was great. Apollo Dantes might be the best guy to take Porky's offense except maybe Negro Casas. He knows how to and went to sell and be in the right place. I was stunned to see how mobile Porky was even in 2000. Top rope splash and he was even running. Rest of the guys were good but this was the porky show. That entrance by the rudos was wild. First, they come out to Rammstein and then they throw fireworks into the crowd. Great stuff.
