  1. I'm guessing this is Jersey Championship wrestling? I've heard of Billy Reil before and he was pretty impressive. At least for an early 2000's heel. Had some good moves and even no sold Low Ki's kicks. Weird seeing Ki work from underneath. The finish was cheap compared to the match but all things said it was good.
  2. I'm a big mark for fat masked luchadors in regular clothes attacking people so I loved the Villano's attacking Atlantis. I gotta agree with OJ about wishing Atlantis would show more fire. He did better here than the previous matches. Good build to the eventual mask match.
  3. The Ascension and Sanity. I used to have to sit through 4 Ascension matches a night at NXT tapings. I don't hate Viktor and old ass Konnor just brings him down so much. Just a old tired gimmick from a slow fat guy without the charm and the worker of the group has no charisma. Sanity has replaced them. They haven't been around long but they are just as bad. They make Nikki Cross boring. Eric Young is the worst.
  4. The skit had a very Monterrey feel where the rudos just beat up the tecnicos in the lobby. Then the match happened and it was much the same. I feel so bad for Tarzan boy in this feud. That beer bottle shot was nasty and then his leg gets caught in the coliseo chair. The most painful looking spot was Olimpico being thrown in the chairs head first. Based on what I've seen in January 2000, Satanico is my wrestler of the month. No doubt. Great beatdown.
  5. Adam Flash looks like the most indie guy alive. I remember reading about him in PWI all the time. Good to finally see him. Decent brawl with a lot of chairshots. I like how they used tables as a barricade. The finish was actually pretty creative.
  6. The Backseat boyz gimmick was so damn great. Especially Trent. Just looked like a total prick. Is this the same Bad crew from 1996 ECW? The match wasn't much but I agree that it's a good traditional tag. The announcers couldn't decide if they wanted to be heels or babyfaces. That got annoying.
  7. I had no idea Okumura was in CMLL in 2000. This was fine but not terribly exciting. The type of match you'd see on the undercard of CMLL today. A disappointment compared to the other cmll matches.
  8. I thought Buster Time actually looked better than Dragon here. He had good power guy offense and looked more impressive. I like how his shirt had Ass Kick on it. Finish had a guy named Big Bad John come out and help Dragon win. Also a cameo from Paul Diamond as Venum at the end. Had no idea he looked like Berlyn.
  9. It's just crazy seeing Spanky here and see how Kendrick wrestles now. It's like night and day. For a guy that had only been wrestling for a short time, he sure does a lot of crazy moves and does them well. That german from the top rope where Rudy Boy lands on his neck is nuts. Rudy boy is the guy that holds this together. Like when he has to basically yell at Bonecrusher to distract the ref. Also love that he comes out to the chase.
  10. These two guys are just so bland. The wrestling was fine and was worked in an early ROH main event style which I guess is where that style came from. Nice to see the crowd into it but it took me a while to notice Modest was the babyface. The finish was just dreadful though. Two ref bumps in less than a minute? What is this WCW?
  11. Bull looked like the only competent wrestler in this match. The leap to the top rope was impressive. The TPT/Jebediah team makes OVW look so low rent.. Especially as champions. This match kinda sucked but it was short and at least Cornette tried to tell a story from it.
  12. The Atlantis/Villano feud continues. Love Atlantis just walking into the ring and hitting Villano with a dropkick as his first move. Then he hits a perfect tope into the crowd. The match was basically to built the feud which is alright.
  13. I was kinda dreading this being another Rudos beat down with the tecnicos getting nothing. However, this was awesome. Tarzan boy gets destroyed and bleeds like Tommy Rich. The interneles just destroy the tecnicos. Especially Satanico to Tarzan boy. The tecnicos attempt a comeback and actually seem to card. Loved the finish with Tarzan trying to beat up Satanico and then Santanico hits on of the best low blows you'll see this side of Fuerza Guerrera. Good match.
  14. The TQM team is actually Chad Austin and Jimmy cicero. Good to see PWI legends the Holy Rollers: Earl the Pearl and Ramblin Rich Myers. I remember reading about them in PWI back in the day but never saw them actually wrestle. Same with Total Quality Managment. As for the match, It was fine I guess. TQM played the corporate heel team good and York/Matthews looked like they had potential as the babyface team. This being 2000, of course, it had to include a tweener team like the Holy Rollers to make it a triple threat. The match got better once it became 2 on 2.
  15. Good opening type tv match that would air on these CMLL shows rarely. The main feud seemed to be Arkangel vs Tigre Blanco which seems like a interesting feud. Nice to see a young Rencor Latino before he became a big star as Averno a year later. Nothing to write home about but I'm a big Ringo Mendoza mark so it was nice to see him. He was like a Mexican version of King Cobra from Memphis. Stuck around forever and always looked old but could go.
  16. I miss when CMLL would do wacky vingettes like the one with Panther going to the beauty salon. It was pretty funny. Poor Olimpico getting thrown right on his head. I'm guessing he got a stinger and that's why he was out of the match? Again this match was rudo dominated. I want to like these but it's just too much domination. Guapos are no Infernales and it just makes the tecnicos look so weak.
  17. Early AJ styles here. You can see the flashes of what he would become a couple years later. His strikes are weak but he did good selling the ribs and doing some flying moves. Taylor did a good job putting AJ over but the announcers just sucked. Especially Bill who kept tip toeing the line between kayfabe and shoot. Decent tv match.
  18. Ah NWA Southwest. I remember when they were syndicated and aired locally in Orlando with guys like Khris Germany, Kevin Northcutt and a young Hotstuff Hernandez. It's wild seeing a totally different version of Necro with facepaint and in all black. Typical indie hardcore match here but I was surprised they used the glass so early. The announcer was horrible but he put over the butcher huge so I guess he's worth it. Biohazzard looked like the Giant Warrior's son. Interesting match.
  19. A slapshot gimmick in 2000. That's just grand. So is this the west coast indies version of the SAT's and Devine storm? The Playaz looks alright, especially early on with the big dive. Then the match just went on and on. The typical excess of 2000's indie wrestling.
  20. I never realised it before but Rip Rogers sounds like Bill Dauterive from King of the Hill. I got a laugh out of the interviews before hand. Especially Bull's line about beating ass while he has that long ass ponytail. The match was alright but it's surprising to see two characters doing a white trash gimmick as a tag team. It's like a more redneck version of the Dirty White Boys. Of course at the end like in SMW, it's all about a Jim Cornette match.
  21. I thought this was pretty bad. Loss said this type of match was a dying breed in 2000. Thank god for that. When the ref looks like one of the wrestlers, you know it's going to be a long night. The push-up thing would have been better if it didn't go almost 10 minutes.Once the "wrestling" started, it looked like a backyard match. Was Graham an actual wrestler or was he one of those guys like a coach at a local high school or something? The heels were ok and Quack looked the best of the bunch. The ref was atrocious. I'm not sure if he was doing a rudo ref gimmick or if he was just incompetent. Bad match.
  22. Fresh off beating Super Astro for his mask on Christmas day 1999, Villano III is on fire here. Just destroying Atlantis's mask Vilano, Wagner and Pierroth are one bad ass rudo team. Wagner is getting better after his New Japan tour and Pierroth is turning into brawling Pierroth. Atlantis comeback in the 2nd was nice. But this was all about the rudos which seems to be a theme in these cmll main event matches. One of the rare matches where Negro Casas was overshadowed. I don't think I've seen Arena Coliseo as hot and bothered as they were here. Looked like a crash scene afterwards. Fun brawl.
  23. The theme i'm getting from these matches is the tenicos don't really matter and it's all about the rudos. Usually that would bore me like in AAA matches but Los Infernales are so good they make these matches entertaiing. Just a total beatdown the first two falls. I'm almost felt bad for poor Tarzan boy. Loved the finish of the third where he got his payback by doing dirty tricks.
  24. This was before the peak of Los Guapos so not much was going on in it. It's really weird seeing Emilio as a tecnico. I guess the big feud was Emilo vs Shocker that went on for a while during the Guapo days. Bestia is not as good as he was but is still decent. Tienblas just towers over everyone and looked the best out of the tecnicos. Not much to say about the match as it was just a normal semi main lucha match around the time. Not bad but not good either.
  25. I don't know who Rudy Boy Gonzales is but he held this together really well. Spanky is just crazy with some of the moves he was doing and that sell from Bonecrusher's spear was incredible. I thought Dragon looked better here than in the singles match. That moonsault looked good and I got a laugh at how he kept trying to chop Bonecrusher by unzipping his outfit. Bonecrusher was no selling something fierce early on but got better. Fun match.
