  1. I don't know why I thought Socko was born later in the year but I guess it was in 98. This is a fun segment. I always liked Yurple the Clown. I wonder what ever happened to her. Nice to see Foley taking it easy after the hell he took earlier in the year.
  2. Man I remember hating this angle when I first watched it. This felt like something you would see in WWF at the time. Watching it again, I got a kick out of Storm wearing a Jericho shirt.
  3. Yeah I agree, the best part was the entrance. Onita walking down the ramp smoking a cigarette while fans are throwing trash at him. Chono showing up in a TANK. I'm a huge Onita fan so I enjoyed this. The explosions were nice and even the ref takes a bump. Onita bleeds from the arm. It's crazy that this took place in New Japan. The same ring that Okada and Tanahashi wrestle in.
  4. I still get a kick out of Dr. Wagner Jr: New Japan superstar. He and Ka Shin make a good heel team. That dive by Sasuke where he lands on his neck is just plain nuts.
  5. Not bad but I can't imagine watching 30 minutes of this. Both guys were just throwing bombs and kicking out. Especially Kobashi laying punches to a kneeled Vader.
  6. I loved the piped in sound effects when Show brings down the titantron.
  7. I also loved the Kane/X-pac team. Just random as hell but worked. Kinda like the Bryan/Kane team and Kane/RVD. It's rough seeing these 1999 Owen Hart matches tho.
  8. This didn't match much heat compared to the Rey match. Macho man doing the voice over was nice. Is this the debut of the Turnertron or have I just not noticed it during this yearbook?
  9. Crowd was really into it and some good work by Rey and Kidman. Got a laugh out of the Ray Mysterio Jr. sign.
  10. The state of Hulk Hogan's fashion is ridiculous here. A cap with a fannypack and jeans.I guess this was the start of Ric Flair: Nutty crazy president of WCW.
  11. It's kinda crazy how much Steph changed in a matter of months This storyline is Russo all the way.
  12. So confused by all this. Who was the girl that had a Muto type bladejob at the end of the match? Why is Aja Kong holding what looks like something I carried for my high school math class? I'm guessing it's some type of contract?
  13. I agree with you guys. This was pretty good and man Satomura takes some punishment. I liked early in the match where Aja gives the faces a lariat and she does a full flip and lands on her neck. Aja was awesome as the angry vet that even Ozaki tries to calm down.
  14. This took a while to get going but damn once it did, great stuff. The bumps on the apron and the lariats were just brutal. Vader is sitting at ringside but doesn't do anything. I'm digging beared Kobashi who doesn't care about anything. Akiyama hanged well with him. When did Akiyama finally get on the Misawa/Kawada/Taue/Kobashi level?
  15. This was pretty bad. No reason for Douglas to win at all. Storm runs in to attack and Douglas no sells the cane shot to the back. Loss is right about this feeling like a dying company. Even the ECW faithful in the Arena didn't seem to care.
  16. Candido gets tazplexed through a table in the corner. They treat the injury really serious and Styles basically reads Candido's obituary. The crowd chants "fuck you Taz" and Taz attacks Candidio. This would make sense if Taz was going heel but he didn't.
  17. Shane really does ramble on forever. Vintage douglas. He looks huge. Super Crazy does a moonsalt to concrete. Dudley's do comedy and Sign Guy talks. Corino really aged a lot in a year. This was way too long and KAW did it better.
  18. This feud came out of no where. Lawler was feuding with Stasiak but he left for WWF and Lawler had nothing to do. Dundee was even in a worse position than Lawler. I'm guessing the Fabs were the heels but didn't look like it. Lawler attacks the security trying to stop the brawl.
  19. Man Stan looks great here. Even better than he did in the 80's. Stacy is damn near naked as the manager of the Fabs. I think Dundee was about to leave for KAW and Lawler was kind acting heelish here.
  20. I've been watching a lot of 1999 Memphis lately so I'm loving Jeans wearing jive talking Michael PS Hayes's run in Power Pro wrestling facing guys like Baldo and Glenn Kulka. I'd like to see more of his babyface run in World Class in the late 80's and his freebirds run in WCW. On the Lucha front, I'd like to see more of the lesser known Los Brazos like Platino, Super Brazo and most importantly Robin Hood/Brazo Cibernetico. Also any Trio Fantasia matches I can find. Easily my favorite Lucha trio of all time.
  21. Man Chris Daniels looks so young with hair. Bret came off as such a good guy here. He even cuts a promo on WCW at the end. The lady host reaction when she gives the clothesline was great.
  22. I don't remember Goldust winning the title in 99 at all. Goldust cuts a promo after the match but it's basically just rambling.
  23. This is confusing, long and not bad. Hogan is a big time babyface and Flair is the heel. DDP attacks Flair for some reason. The ref doesn't DQ DDP for that. I didn't like it as much as Loss but it was good.
  24. This was pretty good for a Nitro match. Rey and Kidman make a good tag team in the underdog role. Benoit was above this though.
