Punk posted the intro to "Sirius" on his Instagram, which was the song the Chicago Bulls famously used for their intros.

It's all ego. If it works he can be like "Yeah, I was the one who righted the ship and saved the day" and if the wheels come off completely it's "well I could have saved it but they just wouldn't listen to me",
-
....or Uncle Paul is trying to go back to being the hero of the internet fans after getting so publicly owned by his father in law. Because he would have zero control over anything that could actually make a difference like, say, the atrocious camera cuts that make WWE TV a nausea inducing experience or constantly putting younger and more skilled talent on the back burner so they can bring back relics from previous eras. Since all those are Vince calls and by all accounts HHH got sat at the kids' table by Big Daddy Nick, anything he says now comes off as him trying to frame himself as the guy working for the fans.

I don't think Punk is as damaged by the UFC stuff as people think. Sure, it gives the people who don't like him more joke material, but he would still be a draw in any wrestling company in the world (except for WWE since they would probably be petty AF about it).

I mean, Europe can't be demanding top dollar these days. Plus 15-16,000 people hitting the chorus would be a great moment.

I think Mox saw Kenny's hardcore match in Impact and was like "hold my beer"

Reports coming out that Danielson is signed and will be debuting on the Arthur Ashe Stadium show.
-
He seems too unsure of himself when speaking English. He's pretty fluent but I suppose it's pretty nerve wracking to be on national TV speaking a language not your main one.
-
If he's gonna be with Andrade instead of Vickie I won't complain.
-
Man this LAX/FTR segment is so old school JCP I thought Nikita and Magnum would show up.
-
Having said that, I think that was the best you could have hoped for with that match.
-
Dave and Bryan were talking about that the other day and it came down to yes Britt is the bigger star but Mox/Archer will almost assuredly be a better match. Basically you don't want to risk someone like Nyla in the main event in case things go sideways.

Well I certainly didn't expect MDK on AEW
-
Danielson and Punk would absolutely be "Hall and Nash show up on Nitro" for the modern era. No one suggested the Outsiders were going to tear it up in the ring, but it was the moment when WCW looked like the place everyone wanted to be and made the company look like the coolest kids in school.
-
This is a great example of the difference and expectations of the two big companies right now. AEW can bring someone in and even if they might have lost at step, I generally feel they will find some way to make it work. Even if it doesn't work at first (hi Miro), they usually find a way to right the ship and get it right.
-
I get what you're saying but I'm sure AEW isn't going to come up with a One Punk Nation storyline, or have Cody be the only one who can see Punk in the mirror.
-
I mean, Warrior was pretty over when he came back to the WWF. It was only when Hogan wanted his win back in WCW that things got wonky. If anything, Punk has similar vibes to someone who worked in OVW when it was WWF developmental who had all their passion for pro wrestling beaten out of them.
-
Well the only companies that would be able to afford his asking price are WWE and AEW, so it would be easy for WWE to leak this out of spite. Funny thing is that if they are doing that, AEW can just turn around and hype his debut to make it that much bigger. Another thing to consider is that not only does Colt Cabana work for AEW, but they clearly wanted Punk back when they were launching the company and he big leagued them to the point of calling Cody unprofessional for trying to talk to him via text. I'm sure the EVPs can suck it up because it's good for business, but I can't imagine Colt would be thrilled to work with the guy who tried to ruin him.
-
Looked like the wind knocked out of here by the senton, which I'm sure made the bump for her finisher suck that much more.
-
Certainly something a normal and sane company does.
-
I would assume NXT UK has much higher standing in Vince's eyes since it actually accomplished what it sent out to do.
-
Which is funny, because it's not like wrestling twitter has been going to the mat for NXT for a long while. The only fans he's possibly pissing off are all the "NXT RULZ, AEW DROOLZ" type stan accounts, which lolololol to trolling the most devoted fans you have left.
-
This is all true to be certain, but seeing Vince treat the NXT champion like he was an 80s territory champ he just signed to job out to Tito Santana on Prime Time Wrestling was certainly something to behold.
-
Yeah, he was one of those guys who you never really think about how great he was. All the pre-WWF stuff, being one of the biggest drawing opponents for Hogan, the great stuff in WCW where he couldn't work like he used to but the comedy chops were golden. Dave mentioned the other day that when he sat down to think about it Paul is pretty much a no doubt HOFer .
