You're not wrong, but is modern pro wrestling any better with the sex pests and Q anon dummies? I suppose it's better in the sense that there's more of a push to get that kind of garbage out of the business as opposed to back then, but when the biggest company around is still an alt-right beehive it's hard to argue things are all that different.

WWE's endless and sometimes embarrassing thirst for mainstream approval only further proves the point here IMO. 80s wrestling just assumed it was part of pop culture as opposed to constantly clout chasing.

The Shaq match seems so cursed at that point I'm expecting to hear one of the participants had a piano fall on them Looney Tunes style.

I remember back in her fighting days hearing people say Gina wasn't especially bright even by MMA fighter standards, and always thought it was just the bro culture of MMA upset that the wimminz were becoming stars, but now I'm looking at that real different. -
Also I still can't believe KENTA is in the main event of Dynamite.

I've just accepted the invisible cameraman as a artistic tool to take the view inside these private conversations. It's like not thinking about the whole film crew on set when a sex scene in a movie.

I love MJF the shit stirrer trying to keep Jericho to himself.

I don't actually want it to happen, but I can't say part of me doesn't want Janela to win here just to see the chaos it would cause on the internet.

Not only that, I was *really* surprised they didn't keep trying to force Becky's heel turn when the fans were rejecting it. -

I recall Rusev in one of his post WWE interviews saying how he was trying to get Vince to recognize how crazy the fans were going for all the Rusev Day stuff, and Vince told him they weren't really cheering for him like it was some kind of ironic hipster thing. It really shed light how much Vince denies reality when it's not something he intended to get over. -
It's also a kind of dated term too, which is kind of on brand for Cornette.
-
He's clearly using it as a euphemism for being effeminate in a gay stereotype way though. Like it's possible if it was just this time as a one-off I could see the argument, but he's constantly making digs at Kenny that imply that he really just wants to call Kenny the f-slur but even he knows that's a bridge too for.

Vince's dislike of non WWE wrestling seems to blind him to the fact that what kept things fresh was wrestlers were able to go from territory to territory. If someone's act ran it's course they could always go somewhere else, maybe try switching face/heel to see how it works for them, at worst you can go back to your home area in a few months and have a clean slate. We know it's something that still works since you have examples of guys going elsewhere now that end up revitalize their careers. Plus I don't buy the idea that WWE can kill someone for good. Look at someone like Juice Robinson, he was a jobber in a dead end gimmick in NXT, but New Japan put the effort in to rehabbing the guy, and he became a mid level guy who was probably being primed for more before he got injured and the pandemic hit. -
"common misunderstandings"......huh. I suppose that's one way to look at it. Unless Jade is fucking Cody for real what real anger and real emotion is she bringing? She's out here like this was some Lita/Edge/Matt Hardy deal based on reality instead of some shit designed to build Shaq doing a match for them.
-
A lot of it comes off as a little child who's go to insult its to call someone gay. Like I'm sure he's leaning in to it for gimmick purposes as well, but he's what happens when an asshole does the "your real personality turned to 11" deal.

Apparently WWE bleeped that part out when they put it on YouTube, I guess they felt too threatened by Nia's hole. -
It's really well past the point of pretending Cornette is someone worth listening to just because his wrestling opinions match up with one's own. He's like the wrestling equivalent of Bill Maher. I agree with him probably close to 100% when it comes to politics, but he's such a smug asshole about it I no longer watch his show.

I think her deal is she was a former pop idol who got fired or something for not being the the squeaky clean image they expect. So her gimmick is to be provocative on purpose because it's the opposite you'd expect from an idol. That's far too much nuance for Corny and his band of idiots, they just want to be sexist and racist, with a dash of homophobia directed at Omega with the "twinkletoes" comment.

Good God, why do they keep having Nia do moves that can end badly? Like she's a sloppy mess in the ring, but at some point you have to start asking why she is not being told to maybe not do moves where people's heads get wildly whipped into things.
