  1. Vince wanting folks to finish their dates with other promoters is a relatively new concept, mainly because they wanted to avoid the bad PR of "mean WWE trying to shut down the indies". Far cry from the territory days when he'd give folks who were on their way a little extra to no show their last few dates with the old company on their way out.
  2. Looks like Eddie = Ratings. Sign the man, Tony.
  3. He'd end up R-Truth's wacky pal E-King, and that's assuming he'd even make it to the main roster. Also the shot of the front row recoiling in horror at the sight of tacks being poured in the ring did more to put that spot over than anything WWE has done in decades.
  4. That Adam Cole thing is weird. If it's a work, what is it building? No one wants to see Pat McAfee actually have a match. If it's real it makes Cole look like a thinned skinned bitch who was extremely gotten to by Pat fucking McAfee.
  5. Seeing shirtless Killian Dain on NXT made me wonder if George Steele knew he had family in the UK.
  6. Diamante came across as better in every way in that match.
  7. Yeah that's the standard test for someone you are concerned might be a problem: have them do a job and see if they flip out.
  8. I just saw it as them beating WWE to the punch in running another Mae Young Classic.
  9. That's how you kick off a show, god damn,
  10. Having angry NOD Farooq style Ron Simmons with MVP's crew would be workable* (not that I'd trust WWE to do it right), but not the guy who's spent the last decade plus showing up just to say DAMN at random backstage foolishness. *So far MVP's group has been characterized as the Grown Ass Men seeking to put the youngin's in their place. There could be a way to make Ron Simmons work for that in the hands of someone not in a constant state of horniness for the late 90s.
  11. The truly funny part is they moved Orton/Show off of Extreme Rules to Raw just to pop a rating.
  12. Big E not even getting the token (no pun intended) "tag team guy gets a shot at the title" match seems criminal to me. How do you have a guy that full of charisma and not strap all the rockets on him?
  13. The funny thing I thought the same, then when I saw they had a similar looking belt I thought she returned it. Then I noticed it was gold and not silver like the other Impact belts and I had suspicions.
  14. Hilarity would ensue for sure, like the last time she was there during one of the Mae Young Classics where she managed to Tessa herself out of getting signed then.
  15. So apparently the plan for Summerslam is to do Drew vs Orton and I'm afraid I might fall asleep before finishing this sentence.

    AEW Dark Megathread

Sounds like when Americans try to understand someone Scottish. In theory they're speaking English but in reality they sound like someone falling down a flight of stairs.
  17. To me, the discussion here is normally less "should X get a job?" and more "should AEW expect their experience with X be any different than everyone else's?" which I think is a far question to ask based on history.
  18. Yeah, it's possible for one spouse to get it and the other not, like Renee and Mox, but I'd wager Ric wasn't exactly following protocol.
  19. Hey now, this place on its worst day is no where near as toxic as Twitter, even if sometimes there's occasional squabbles amongst us. Now finding things to bitch about? OK, you got me there, lol.
  20. One one hand yes, but on the other that segment reminded me of how WCW used to stick all the Mexicans to hour one of Nitro. Also having Steph be the one to talk about systemic racism is like a rib gone out of control. I can only hope she says she knows how POC who face racism feel because the government was racist against her dad by trying to prosecute him for steroids. Or maybe she will say WWE defeated racism by making Kofi the champ at Wrestlemania (while not mentioning how his run ended).
  21. Well if Jack Evans is one of those people not happy, it is his business since he does work there and apparently wasn't a fan of working with her before.
  22. Well there is a tiny difference between stretching out a trainee (still abuse but at least there's somewhat of a "we're toughening them up for rasslin" defense) and straight Suge Knight-ing a motherfucker from a balcony. I believe if you asked anyone in the UK scene they probably had some stories about the Knight family's various antics running the gamut from normal promoter carny type fuckery to "that family weirds me out" level stuff.
  23. I seem to recall Jack Evans saying she was the reason he left Lucha Underground. I'm not sure of any specifics but it seems she's not been the easiest person to get along with. My impression is she's another Tessa but without the racism accusations (that I know of anyway). I'm surprised AEW gave her a shot considering the word on her has been a variation of "there's a reason no major company has reached out to her in a while". Maybe they can buck the trend and everything will work out fine, but the odds do not seem to be in their favor here.
  24. I doubt we'll see Brock until actual crowds are back. He's way too smart to come back for a rona show.
  25. Time for another great WWE trope: title match loser somehow gets another shot because....reasons.
