  1. The UFC thing definitely hurt. He spent a lot of time leading up to his first fight on social media showing all the training he was doing, and he went in there looking like he literally just walked off the street into the cage. For all the talking he did about how it pissed him off part timers were walking in to WWE and getting main event spots on big events, it made him look like a gigantic hypocrite to basically do the same thing in UFC. To be fair, he clearly wanted to do it and by all accounts put in as much work as a guy with a body broken down from a pro wrestling career could, but it was a bad look for a guy who was as vocal as he is. It shot a lot of his credibility which is pretty much all you have in wrestling. Coming back to do a WWE-adjacent gig just makes him look like he didn't even have the balls to sell out properly and is just hiding behind the veneer of "well actually, I work for Fox". Plus it seems like he's salty his big return didn't pop huge numbers, when it just seems people don't give two shits about a show that's so blatantly just WWE propaganda disguised as a talking head sports show.
  2. The funny thing is his rep was being a snarky asshole before he did the pipe bomb promo and he became an Internet Hero for saying WWE sucks on WWE TV. Then he got bonus points for telling WWE to fuck off and leaving when their doctors nearly killed him. It's like people forgot his entire career before he cut that promo, and when he turned out to still be a snarky asshole people were like an IRL version of the shocked Pikachu meme.
  3. I was around for FMW and WAR back in the day, yet I have zero recollection of Dr. Luther. This is like when I hear people talking about some random dude from the 90s working in WCW and I'd be like "when did that happen". It's like I have parts of 90s wrestling just randomly erased from my brain.
  4. You never know, a 30+ year old movie is right in Vince's wheelhouse.
  5. Agreed with Brandi. Trying to do you own deal is fine, and the people involved are all capable of doing something cool, but having her go from loving wife of Cody to Bae Wyatt was too much of a gimmick change too fast. No one buys it, and because it appears to be Brandi's pet project I get the impression no one wants to be the one to say something about it. As far as Kushida and Shelley, I get the feeling everyone just assumes the team name comes from the Back to the Future gimmick and no one even thinks of the video games. Which does pose the question how has a gimmick so clearly based off a popular film franchise manage to fly under the radar in WWE?
  6. I love that the story showed that Dave has always been Dave, and that he still is salty about it with the "....and I didn't deserve detention" line he said under his breath.
  7. TBF, I'm an old ass Gen Xer and I think Logan Paul would make a tremendous pro wrestling heel, like when Kevin Federline was on Raw years back. Dude has that douchebag charisma off the charts.
  8. Yeah of all people to pull the Saudi card on, the Miz was an odd choice. It still comes off that a lot of folks are mad that he was on TV before getting in to wrestling and is on TV while wrestling (by all accounts his Miz and Mrs show comes off as the best WWE produced reality show as Miz and family all come off as fun wacky people who seem like they'd be cool to hang out with).
  9. Tanahashi, Jericho, Gedo, and Rocky Romero were all involved in the idea.
  10. Jericho clearly wants it to happen, and Tony seems to as well since he allowed the use of the belt in the build for Wrestle Kingdom, let's just hope they can get the Elite guys out of their feelings and make them realize it's Best for Business to turn a phrase.
  11. Bret's not obligated to do anything of course, but he is a Canadian hero and if nothing else it would be good PR if he stepped in and made good for the employees left in a lurch, but there might be some business related laws that would keep him from doing that (ie: if he steps in to help the workers he might end up on the hook for all the company debts). It might be different in Canada, but it wouldn't surprise me if there were some kind of law like that since it always seems to favor business in those situations.
  12. They've been careful that every time Heyman did the whole "not a prediction, that's a spoiler" line, what he says comes true every time. Even before he was running the whole show he was very hands on with Brock's stuff so I would be sure he would make that clear.
  13. Maybe she considered them independent contractors. (I kid, mostly)
  14. Also Bryan should be getting more props for inheriting the broomstick ability from Flair, he has good matches with guys who don't seem to be able to have good matches with anyone else in WWE.
  15. He's up there, but to be honest you gotta give props to Hogan for being able to get the reactions he got from 80s WWF crowds that usually had to sit through brutal tapings to get to his match.
  16. I love how Drew Mac basically turned himself babyface by being a cool guy who beats people up instead of the usual geek parade we get in WWE.
  17. Vic Joseph sounds so much like Michael Cole now it's kind of creeping me out.
  18. His tights are but his entrance gear is red.
  19. Andrade's all red look makes him look like a lucha Nakamura.
  20. There's an investigation going on and some folks have come forward, but wrestling Twitter is doing an admirable job not going all TMZ on this story and actually letting it play out in the legal system.
  21. Jericho tapped out Tanahashi in a great match.
  22. Jericho billed as AEW World Champion but he doesn't have the belt with him. Well never mind, he had it under his shirt.
  23. Jesus Christ that chairshot to the head on Kota.
  24. It's something to see Moxley and KENTA in back to back matches, two guys who had the life sucked out of them in WWE and seem like entirely new people now.
  25. Oh man, Mox vs Suzuki. Yes please.
