  1. Considering Brandi specifically brought up how ridiculous it looked on commentary I doubt this will become an AEW standard.
  2. It's not like WWE has spent the last decade plus kneecapping folks with start-stop pushes or anything. It certainly helps that Raw has been showing a more concerted effort to build up new stars for the future even if it might mean making some sacrifices in the short term.
  3. Bianca is amazing, and I hope she doesn't get Asuka'd and end up lost in the shuffle because it wasn't her "turn" yet.
  4. I mean, he *is* part of the family despite being an asshole, I don't think Bret could keep him from using it. Plus I get the feeling the family kind of has a blind spot for him since his brother died when he was young. It seems like he was allowed to do whatever he wanted ever since with little to no recourse.
  5. The problem is even when Jim makes valid points (and he frequently does), it gets lost in the avalanche of nonsense he spews. It makes you not want to consider any of his points because he's being obnoxious when he makes them. Not to mention besides everything else, he comes off as softer than baby poop at the slightest of criticism. I've not always agreed with Bix and/or his views of everything, but Jim going on a personal attack and sending his Twitter mob to attack based on an unflattering photo of him was some real bullshit. Going after someone's looks is some grade A "gotten to" material and made him look like a petty ass teenager jilted by an ex.
  6. To add fuel to the fire, after Matt Hardy tweeted "GOODBYE" after his write off on Raw, Evil Uno tweeted "you say goodbye, we say hello". So whatever ends up happening, they are definitely trying to get you to believe he is going to AEW.
  7. So it seems Cobb is only in for this angle at the moment, Cody really wants him but it seems like a risk to feature someone not inked to a deal and have them hit you with the Rick Rude Maneuver and show up on someone else's TV.
  8. So Simone Johnson got signed to WWE and is at the PC. Interesting she's already tiring of the jokes from people saying her WWE name will be based off her dad somehow, when the only other person on the roster with a situation similar to hers has her whole gimmick based on "what if her dad was a woman". I wish her the best, she seems to have a real desire to make it in the business, but I hope she isn't too disappointed when Vince only sees her as Female Rock and nothing else.
  9. Adam Page should be the lesson every company learns from. ROH and to a lesser extent New Japan were trying so hard to make him a thing just based on matches, and it really wasn't working. AEW gives him a gimmick with personality and it gets over huge. It reminds me of the Gary Hart line where he said (paraphrasing) that while he respected anyone who can wrestle, the business is about making money and just being a good wrestler isn't enough.
  10. Funny you would mention Blassie, Dave mentioned Heyman was a big fan of Blassie as a kid and that inspired the Shayna deal.
  11. Oh JR......just called Nyla the "King of the Mountain" of the women's division... I know what he meant, but Jesus Christ....
  12. JR dropping a "Bucks of Youth" reference, which is Broken Matt's name for the Bucks.
  13. They sure know to open a show, this match has the crowd heated already.
  14. "Teddy Hart arrested on drug charges" coming in as a strong contender for Least Surprising Headline of 2020.
  15. My guess is Roode is just there for cannon fodder so guys they have plans for don't have to take an L. Just like I assume Braun is there to do big man spots (maybe smash one of the pods), and Bryan's there to make everyone look good.
  16. My guess is "Roman is obviously winning, so lets throw some people in there with him to at least make the match entertaining". The question is if I'm Roman and I get told my program is going from Corbin to Bray does he ask Vince "did I piss you off at some point bro?".
  17. I tend to agree with DMJ, as interesting as the angle was it did come off as them having to shoehorn someone in the Ronda spot at the last minute to me as well. Also agree that they need to come up with better fake blood since once Becky was rolling all over the mat the "blood stains" looked extremely fake.
  18. The whole Garza family is pretty fun to watch. For some reason we get Multimedios (a Monterrey TV station) on our cable package here and was able to watch Ulitmo Ninja (Humberto) and Hijo del Ninja (Angel Garza) almost from the start of their careers. Both were pretty good, but Angel was definitely the one with the star potential. He even was on a Bachelor-like reality show where he dropped his mask voluntarily since he was so good looking and had charisma.
  19. That Orton segment was fantastic. Best non-Broken Universe Matt Hardy promo I can remember in a long time, if not ever. Works to both write off Matt from WWE since its apparent he's leaving, and furthers Randy's new sadistic murderer of careers gimmick.
  20. Team Thicc Boys vs Seth and his Minions would be a great feud to logically build a Wargames type match towards, if they still bothered to do such things instead of shoehorning it into a themed PPV show.
  21. I suppose that's a possibility but WWE has been angling to be the first non football event in the new LA stadium pretty much from the point the construction started.
  22. Dave mentioned in the daily update that the location for next years Mania will be made tomorrow, and while he wasn't allowed to say where it was yet it's "where everyone expected it to be in 2021 or 2022" which I take to mean the new stadium in Los Angeles that the Rams and Chargers will be playing in.
  23. I saw it pointed out elsewhere, but it's funny that the new XFL is the AEW of pro football. A billionare owner willing to put up with years of losses to be able to compete with an industry leader he feels has grown lame and stale.
  24. It's obvious the key this time around Vince hired actual football people to run things instead of having WWE people try to do both. You can tell things were drawn up by folks familiar with what football fans would accept and make changes based on that instead of being all sports-entertainery.
  25. MJF is the wrestling equivalent of an athlete in "real sports" who has all the tools and talent but lacks the seasoning needed to go to the next level. I have much more faith he can reach his potential in an environment like AEW as opposed to one where everything unique about him gets painstakingly scripted away until he's another indistinguishable cog in the machine. Will he step up and deliver the performance of a lifetime at the PPV? Nothing's certain of course, but considering the mindset of the people involved I wouldn't bet against it.
