Ronda seems to be the type where if she's given something stupid to say, she'll say it but make it clear the whole time she thinks it's stupid. Last night looked like that's what was happening.

...and even then it was in spite of the booking, not because of it. No matter how much the WWE version of history tries to spin it. Not co-incidentally Bryan is also one of the current guys who does everything mentioned that babyfaces used to do to draw sympathy, and is one of the few in WWE with a real connection to the audience.

Wasn't she the one that did the 2018 Rick Rude and was on WWE, Impact, and ROH tv all in the same week? I know she was everywhere that she could go, nice to see hard work rewarded.

This has been the case for every generation of older wrestlers and their feelings about the new generation. The only difference is that there weren't a million outlets back then for everyone to air their opinion. Although I have to admit a podcast of 1986 Ole Anderson grumping on like Dynamite Kid or whoever would probably have been tremendous.

I find history in general fascinating, and in a business like wrestling it's even more so. It's always interesting to see the choices promoters made that worked as well as the ones that didn't.

Not only was he a WWE exec, he apparently was the one negotiating Middle Eastern deals for them. Oof.

Vince was only concerned about the time slot, so he probably didn't care about the tape library then. Also I was under the impression that Turner owned the rights to at least everything Georgia taped at the WTBS studios as Dave has mentioned several times that WWE owned everything from 70s Georgia to Florida/Central States/UWF with the WCW purchase.

Between the NBA conference final game 7s and the NHL finals starting, WWE has pretty clearly punted on this week's tvs.

Wrestling moves/holds I'd like to see mount a comeback
sek69 replied to Loss's topic in Pro Wrestling
Basically any leg lock that's not a figure four, but Daniel Bryan might be doing that all by himself. -
Mid South 1984 uploads are continuing, so we should have the great Mr. Wrestling II-Magnum TA angle in full.

The only thing that stood out to me was an actual dollar amount for Raw instead of the nebulous "2-3x" increase.

I miss tag team finishers. Even basic ones were neat little touches to show it's two guys working together to win a match instead of two single wrestlers. -
I'm just glad they don't make her walk around in the booty shorts she wore for her WM match, since Vince has an "everyone must always walk around in their gear no matter how ridiculous it looks" fetish.

MLW seemingly made an attempt to get guys who weren't already signed elsewhere under contract before going on TV to prevent the usual "they got a TV deal let's raid them" WWE ploy. Funny how they stayed clear of ROH after they got their fingers slapped with tampering threats, and immediately started doing the same thing to the next company that came along.

I love the fact that he's not only aware of the memes he inspired, but takes part in them:

Brazilian meltdown?

You mean Two Time Stanley Cup Champion Phill Kessel, and a damn sexy man?

Last week's back issue was the obit for Johnny Valentine, and Dave mentioned the last public appearance he made was for New Japan during Inoki's 30 anniversary celebration in 1990. He brought in a bunch of gajin he had classic matches with like Lou Thesz, Hansen, Andre, and Johnny was one of those guys. To my surprise he actually walked down the aisle on arm-support crutches. I was always under the impression he was wheelchair bound after the accident.

Never really been a big fan of international hockey outside of the Olympics. Mostly I'd guess because they were near impossible to find on TV anywhere in the US until really the last few years with the proliferation of niche sports channels.

Bruce is by far his biggest though, just for the fact it got them a spot on the WWE Network. Sure, he could probably find tons of people he can do shows with but I doubt they'd have the connections Bruce has.

Yeah, there's no way Smackdown goes to 3 hours either way. 7-8 pm is for syndicated programming and 10-11 is for local news, both of those are big revenue streams for the local affiliates. If Fox messes with that, they'd have a shit storm on their hands. What will be interesting is that a lot of Fox stations (like mine) are owned by Sinclair. So you could be seeing ROH ads in during Smackdown in the local buys.

I've been watching since it launched a few weeks back, and it's been quite an interesting show. You have young unknown guys in one match, Col. Robert Parker managing a team of bleach blond fat guys who look like they fell out of a time machine from 80s Memphis, Pentagon vs Fenix, all announced by Tony Schiavone. The first thing that you realize immediately that Tony sounds 30 years younger not being burdened down by WCW bullshit. He even threw in an "folks, we're outta time" at the end of the first episode. It's amazing to see someone who had the passion beat out of him seemingly able to find it again.

[1977-08-15-Big Time Wrestling] Harley Race vs David Von Erich
sek69 replied to shoe's topic in August 1977
Flair gets a lot of (deserved) credit for being able to make the local territory star look good, but the more I see of Harley it seems he was just as good doing it as well. Hopefully the more WWE digs in the archives the more stuff of his we'll find. -
It all was kind of worth it just for the Twitter meltdown Russo had when he tried to big time Cody and Cody basically called him out on all his bullshit.
