Is TNA the worst wrestling promotion in history?
sek69 replied to Loss's topic in Megathread archive
IIRC the idea was someone flipping channels would see the six sided ring and it would be eye catching enough for them to stop to see what's going on. Which...okay, I guess that's not the worst idea. The flaw in the logic is that that person would likely get driven back away again by what was being booked inside said ring. -
It's still mind boggling that they feel the best approach for a guy largely viewed as being pushed down people's throats because it's who Vince wants as the top guy is to go with a "screwed by the management" gimmick. I can't tell if it's the company being so out of touch they might as well be on another planet, or the best trolljob ever.

KO gets a lot of hate, but I like the little things he does like shaking his head when whipping Braun into the ropes to try the pop up powerbomb. Conveying the sense of "I'm not sure this is going to work, but it's my best shot" is the kind of thing you don't see much of in wrestling anymore.

Mauro would be so much better (and easier to listen to) if he wouldn't try so hard to shoehorn pop culture refrences into his commentary that make him sound like the "hello, fellow kids" meme.

What's nice is since Smackdown started in August 99, Having the first year up is pretty much the entire time the show was relevant as far as storylines go.

Yeah this has been leaving me scratching my head, you'd think he'd be a guy Vince would go crazy to push, but I guess maybe he's proof Vince's age phobia (Lashley is 41) is stronger than his muscle fetish. But if that's the case, why'd they even bother bringing him back?

lol @ that quick cut away from an entire section leaving at the finish.

Tons of people leaving, "beat the traffic" chants, another successful Roman main event.
-
Joe running laps around him in every conceivable way will surely be the thing that finally gets Roman over as the top guy.
-
Three matches so far on this show involved working a knee injury. As much as I've enjoyed the show the agents have sucked laying it out.

Shoutout to that lady sitting front row near the ramp looking like a tatted up Veda Scott.

It's kind of amazing how long a lot of us have been around together. I had the same path as Thread Killer and Loss, as well as being on a wrestling video game board with Coffey that was probably 10+ years ago at this point. I can understand the need to step back and take a break once in a while, but I'd have faith that everyone will end up coming back eventually if for no other reason we all seem to enjoy each other's knucklehead opinions even if we get mad at each other occasionally.

He's trying to defend himself on Twitter from that horrible take with the Dude-esque "Well...that's just my opinon, man" excuse. Yeah Jim, that's kind of the point here. You have an awful opinon on this.

I would find it incredibly hard to believe anyone would not know why women would not be booked on a show in Saudi Arabia. I don't think there's a bubble large enough to shield anyone from the realities of that part of the world.

I think there is a a curve in more than wrestling when it comes to what was considered attractive in the 80s. I'm working on a theory that all the drugs done in the 60s-70s had a cummulative effect where it led to people finding all sorts of weird shit attractive in the 80s. Pretty much anyone pushed as a heartthrob then gets a "wow, really?" reaction nowadays. I think a lot of that is due to the peroxide bleach blonde 80s wrestler look didn't really age well for anyone not Ric Flair.

You are trying to equivicate what Bruce does with what Dave does. What Bruce does is sell bullshit that he knows is bullshit to "con the marks" or whatever. Dave has his own biases for sure, but they are not on the same level as someone who is clearly making shit up (or is at Hogan levels of making shit up for so long he believes its real). That's all I'm trying to say. I'd wager he rips on Dave becaus it's the only way he's relevant in 2018. Would he be known as anything other than the guy who was Brother Love if he wasn't using Dave as a means to get himself over with the internet?
-
Yeah, until I can find an example of Dave pushing something he knows is BS to drive his business I don't see the comparison either.
-
The thing about Bruce is he seems to be saying things about Dave he knows aren't true to drum up his own business, and his fans are believing it and harassing him on Twitter because of it. As far as I know, Dave hasn't knowingly pushed anything he knew was not true for his own benefit. So this both-sides-are-equally-bad take doesn't hold water.
-
Apparently Bruce said something on the latest episode along the lines of Dave tried to get USA Today to do an expose on blading after a SNME show in 1989, leading to his fanbase going after a bewildered Dave on Twitter (again). There comes a point where guys like this and Russo risk turning themselves into an Alex Jones type, who can be both dismissed as unreliable crazies and also feeding in to a fanbase seemingly not aware of the gimmick and believe everything they say as gospel.

You pretty much have to keep him in a speaking role, so your options are let him ramble (brother) or have him try to recite overscripted 2018 WWE speak that everyone of his generation has struggled mightily with. Have him come out to get the welcome back to the family pop, let him do his gimmick where he pretends he wants the crowd to stop cheering which only eggs them on to cheer more, then keep him as a talking head for DVD/network specials.

Not really looking forward to the "everyone predicting New Japan's doom" phase of it once being the internet's favorite fed, but here we are. US shows not really selling fast, can't be that they didn't really announce any card or person appearing, has to be a sign Gedo lost it and/or Okada's done as a draw. Okada/Kenny 4 is going to be a no time limit match, can't be another chapter to one of the best feuds of the last decade, it has to be bad because Dave likes both guys because.....reasons? I don't know. Somehow Dave liking a match makes it overrated now so *shrug* It reminds me of how people want Nintendo to close shop and become a software only publisher every time they hit a bump in the road. Then they come out with something like the Switch that gets over huge and all those people look silly.

WWE is doing a series about guys' former identities on the indies before they came to WWE. The first one I saw was about Seth Rollins and his Tyler Black days, which means WWE is doing a better job promoting ROH's history than ROH does.

It's weird, I know Backlash was May 6th, but I was still surprised to get the WWE emails "THIS SUNDAY" about it. Show feels like it's still weeks away.

I really hope the off air segments make the upload. Raw had so many and quite a few on Heat were filmed as highlights at times were shown on Raw so no excuses that they didnt film any. I seriously doubt they put up anything but the shows as aired. We could have said the same thing about Raw but they suprised us there. The Raws they uploaded have bonus footage or is the bonus footage somewhere else on the Network. Like if I throw on a Raw from 98, does it have a dark match thrown in or something? A lot of the Attitude Era Raws have an "extra attitude" segment usually just for the live crowd to send them home happy.
