  1. The best part is allegedly Vince first soured on Bryan because they do some kind of test to gauge how motivated you are and it's all questions like "do you want to own tons of cars and live in the biggest houses". Since Bryan's worldview is pretty much the opposite of everything they asked about, he's a slacking millennial.
  2. Of all the things mentioned in the thread, Vince coming to the conclusion he's hurting things more than helping seems to be the least likely to happen though. I think admitting he's too old to be a regular on screen character is the closest we'll get to him having any self realization.
  3. I think sometimes it's undersold how much even Steven booking is killing everyone not John Cena. Winning a match on PPV no longer has any value when the loser gets their win back the next night on Raw 90% of the time.
  4. Isn't that pretty much what happened when the Attitude Era started when Vince said he wasn't going to insult everyone's intelligence with heels and babyfaces? They ushered in new sets, new announcers, and so on. I agree it's not something we're likely to see but it's not anything that hasn't happened before.
  5. WO.com just posted a report from WWE stating John Cena's taking time off for "personal reasons" after the HIAC PPV. He's been banged up for a while, but the cynic in me thinks this is just them trying to sell the "Dolph wants Nikki back" storyline from Total Divas.
  6. I get that, but Hunter can't seem to get past the wrestler mentality of never wanting to look bad for fear of losing their spot. He was so good at playing politics (the "game", if you weeeeeell) that he can't seem to turn the switch off. If he's going to be running things in the not too distant future, him not able/willing to get babyfaces over will be a bigger problem.
  7. I've been watching 1998 Raws, and it's really amazing the difference between Vince and HHH as heel authority figures. I couldn't imagine Hunter doing even 1/8th the things Vince did to get Austin over, and it really says a lot of why WWE is in the creative mess they are in. I know it's cliche to complain about Hunter and Steph cutting everyone's balls off, but it's more than that. They want to have their cake and eat it too. Bad guys on Raw, but then they show videos of them visiting sick kids. Then Hunter has to be Dad on NXT. And Steph has to be Mom to the divas division. Then they want to be the all powerful bad guys thwarting all that is good, all while reminding us the current world champ can't lace Hunter's boots. It was really stunning to be reminded of how well Vince played the role of evil owner, while still letting the good guy get over on him at every turn. Can you imagine a babyface today getting the best of HHH to the point he pisses his pants on TV? Of course not. Amazing how not stomping any potential babyface flat led to creating a group of stars that led them to their biggest boom period ever. Are they that much in the bubble/up their own asses that they can't see the reason their product is so stale is that they haven't let anyone get above midcard status since Cena?
  8. Also don't look now, but the latest batch of original programs on the Network (Table for 3, Legends with JBL, even the SuperStar Ink show) have all been pretty good so far.
  9. If WWE Films ever made a Daniel Bryan and Ryback buddy comedy, they might actually turn a profit for once.
  10. I like the interaction between Kane and Seth, it's just that they can't seem to help doing that mid 90s cartoon shit that makes you feel silly watching.
  11. Well it's hard to avoid when he's constantly put in over-long promo segments and booked to lose to everyone under the age of 56.
  12. So if they are still going to do HHH vs Seth at some point, what good will it do when Seth has been booked as a bigger geek as champ than Rey was?
  13. It's weird that their response so far has been to copy the Joseph Park angle with Kane.
  14. Another record low rating. This might push Vince into all out panic mode soon.
  15. The big difference is that LU is a TV show that happens to be about wrestling, and does it well. RAW most weeks is a wrestling program trying to be like a TV show and failing. I like Kane the Happy Director a lot, but when he got put in the ambulance and came out as the demon (with smoke and light effects), that was some straight up Shockmaster level bad.
  16. I started watching NXT when it switched from a "let's humiliate the guy the fans want" contest to an actual weekly wrestling show. Bo was great there, but clearly the gimmick wasn't going to work on the main roster and it didn't on a major scale. I just hate it when it seems like guys aren't even given the chance to succeed when they get these boat anchor gimmicks.
  17. There were rumblings not too long ago that Bo was getting repackaged, and I hope that didn't fall victim to the dreaded PLANS CHANGE maneuver. I'm not saying he's main event material but the guy deserves something better than the garbage gimmick he was stuck with right out of the gates.
  18. Loved the debut segment, but after watching Kana matches to get familiar with her it was weird seeing her come out in the Steph Collection power suit. Props to Dana and Emma for their "we done fucked up" faces being the cherry on top of the awesomeness. It seems like the new plan is to have Bayley/Dana/Emma/Asuka as the new top four women while Eva builds up her heel cred and hopefully works her way up to not being completely terrible.
  19. Figured I'd bring this back from the dead since I was reminded of this thread looking at WWE's YouTube page. I get wanting to have a nickname/descriptive phrase for everyone that you can put on a shirt or some other merch, but it's hilarious to see them being referred to as such instead of their names. What do i mean? Well instead of calling him Dean Ambrose, every mention has to say The Lunatic Fringe instead. Paige becomes The Diva of Tomorrow, Rusev is the Bulgarian Brute, even Nattie becomes (and I swear this is actually how she was named) The Hart Dungeon Graduate. I can only imagine how the near pathological fear of using names comes off to non-fans.
  20. It's fine for one angle/program. When the whole division is booked like that you might as well watch Heathers instead.
  21. Also my previous post I wasn't condoning the family starting the gofundme, I was more relieved it wasn't some crazy Snuka truthers.
  22. Not to mention his doctor mentioned (before the grand jury came back) that he should be fine after he heals from surgery, at least as fine as a 72 year old former wrestler can be. Dave even mentioned the whole deal about being wheelchaired in to court was more of a sympathy ploy than anything else.
  23. It's weird. Even though I think that he's full of it on a lot of stuff that he says, I still like listening to him, whereas with other people (Russo) I just can't bear it. I went to one of the Bischoff/Bruce Pritchard debate/dual interview things, and I came away from it thinking that he's aged the best of him, Heyman, Cornette, and Russo, in the sense that while he is a carny, and kinda full of shit, he seems the most well-adjusted and easy to listen to. He's presumably got fuck you money, so he kinda does stuff like this, and says what he feels like saying, and just does his own thing. He's mad smarmy, but I still have to respect the game. That's the thing about Eric, you immediately want to discount everything he says because he sounds like such a smarmy douche saying it.
  24. Well at least it's the family behind it and not some deranged Benoit-truther type fan.
  25. Seems like their old hosting company shat the bed on them and that was apparently the trigger for them to go ahead and jump forward on their relaunch plans.
