He was initially cleared to wrestle, had a few matches, and the symptoms came back.
-
The fact that WWE is apparently very hesitant to clear him is the most telling thing. The clear message is "we don't care what your doctor says, we're the ones pooping our pants in fear of concussion lawsuits so you're not cleared until we say so". Hell, they were keeping the very fact it was a concussion a state secret until Bret spilled the beans.

He could work a mat oriented style in WWE and chose not to. It doesn't seem to be in his makeup to do that, which means he should be kept as far from a ring as possible for his own good.
-
I kind of hope he stays retired at this point. He has all the signs of being a less-crazy Kurt Angle who will never stop wrestling unless the company paying him forbids it. After seeing him come back from the last injury and not change his style one bit, I don't have any desire to see him be the next Misawa situation.

What are they going to do when all the current NXT darlings get called up? They probably bought more time with Itami and Zayn since they'll need some time to get the rust off when they return, but keeping Balor down at this point is almost a waste. It's going to be interesting when it's mostly Performance Center guys in there and it ends up looking more like late OVW era developmental.

A lot of their fanbase (well outside of the ones that are students at Full Sail) seem to be ROH fans as well, it seems like the assumption that when running head to head everyone will pick NXT because....reasons..... is a bit presumptuous. It's one thing if it's Mania weekend and there's millions of wrestling fans in town, I don't know if Random NXT House Show vs Big ROH Event is going to work the way WWE thinks it will.
-
I'm wondering if they aren't overplaying their hand here with this aggressive push against ROH seemingly out if nowhere. I'm already noticing some people on other boards feeling like NXT "turned heel" with this, which while hyperbolic to be sure, does kind of make sense when you consider they built up NXT as more or less a more polished version of ROH.

Yeah Tyson was told he basically had the same type injury as Christopher Reeve and the only thing that saved his life was having a muscular neck. As far as the women go, having HHH in their corner is going to be the thing that ultimately makes this thing a success. Bewteen Steph's on air role and Hunter posting selfies with his girls on Twitter, I think that's going to ensure that the women will get better placement on the shows and avoid the inevitable burial they'd get otherwise. Not that the bar was set particularly high, but the matches have been better with the NXT crew, they're getting more time, and the crowd is reacting to them more than before. As long as they hold up their end of the deal, things should be fine. They probably won't be main eventing shows like they were on NXT, but if they succeed in making women's wrestling in WWE more than just the bathroom break/model fighting division it had been that's a win right there.

So the second hour popped a huge rating and then they immediately fell back down for the third. I wonder at what point the light bulb goes on for Vince that the only guys people give a shit about are stars from before the "WWE brand sells the show" era. I know he's deathly afraid of someone leaving to become a bigger star elsewhere (look at Cena's comments on TMZ saying he won't leave WWE even if his movie career takes off), but it's killing his business.

How else can you convey the quality of the sources that report entirely wrong information? Most of them look like they take their design cues from the era where ending words with Z was still a thing.

The best I recall is Dave saying they wouldn't be making as much money due to less PPV buys, but I don't think he ever said it would be a loser. Sounds like something invented by NEWZ sites. Speaking of, Dave went on a mini rant on how he's always getting heat directed toward him for stuff he never said. A recent example being people saying he was reporting Sting would be at Battleground or it was Sting vs Taker for SummerSlam when all he said was marketing materials were printed with both guys on it. He brushed it off, but it seems like it's starting to wear on him that his reportings is constantly being misrepresented and then used as "proof" for why DA SHEETZ can't be trusted.

Well one thing about having Steph be involved with the NXT women is it does make it harder for the Kevin Dunn types to do their usual bury job to Vince if she's positioned in the middle of it. That's actually quite an underrated aspect of modern WWE. The longer HHH asserts himself as the Heir Apparent the sooner the time will come where she's going to be in a position where she has to side with either Vince and the status quo or Hunter and how he wants to present things going forward. As much as people tend to dislike her it can't be easy having to be the balance between your dad and your husband.

The IC title match has been scrapped from the PPV, at least it was the last time I checked on WWE.com. I'm guessing they probably think Ryback might be out for a little bit so Cesaro was moved into the "we won't completely ignore this guy" level.

Regal tweeted a photo of an old British wrestling poster of a show he and Liger worked on together back in the day, trying to spin that he just made a phone call to an old pal and this isn't the beginnings of a run on ROH. Considering he's in HHH's inner circle I wonder if he was asked to try to put out the fires of internet rage.
-
They basically see ROH as direct competition to NXT for the internet fan market, and I don't think that's inaccurate. It is peculiar to see them apparently lash out so hard at the company that was more or less the real source of talent that made NXT a favorite to begin with.
-
Is that in the newsletter? I don't see it on Twitter. He replied to a thread on the board about it: He also said another source told him something is coming up but Dave thinks that person might not know he already knows about the building thing.
-
So... the same stuff they did in 1984? They were doing it up through the 90s too. The only building WCW could run during the Monday Night Wars here in Pittsburgh was the AJ Palumbo Center where Duquesne University plays basketball.
-
According to Dave, WWE is calling around to arenas that book ROH in order to get exclusive deals for those buildings to run NXT shows only.
-
I wonder if that's really her father or just some nut, sadly you can never tell when it comes to women (celebrities or otherwise) on the Twitters.
-
Scientology gimmick for Lana? What's going on here?
-
This is true but the NXT women's title is by far the best. The tag titles look like something that would come with knockoff wrestler figures from the dollar store and the NXT title looks like it was sketched out using lego blocks.
-
It's just amazing how Cena, arguably the most Company Man person in the history of wrestling, turns completely emotionless when sitting at the commentary table. It's happened several times now, he's like a real life Michigan J. Frog.

It was kind of a bummer knowing how WWE Creative works to see that the best idea they seemingly had for Sasha was to put her on Team People of Color with Naomi and Tamina. If she's going to have to be in a group she needs to be the clear leader to be able to get over her BOSS gimmick and not be positioned as the Young Girl of the "veterans".
-
Maybe it should be taken as a sign that WWE is really serious on making women's wrestling important when Steph gets to emasculate (or whatever the female version of that would be) their babyfaces too. Nothing like going from having Paige being on a one person campaign to take down the Bellas to have her need Mom to get some new friends to play with her.

When I saw this on TMZ I lost all respect for him. This. Once I heard that, he went from harmless wrestler con artist to disgusting human being.
