    RAW tonight

Him not being in great shape tends to be more noticeable on RAW in a 7 on 7 match than it does say, on Memphis Wrestling. Besides, my point was how come Vince is okay with a 60 year old wrestler appearing on his TV show than a 60 year old announcer (a role where looks are far less important).
  2. Well I don't know if Husky's play acting, he comes from a long line of old school fat guys who wore cowboy boots. His granddad and (eventually) both uncles were pretty good at that role, so I'm thinking he's just fulfilling his destiny. I think where the love for him is coming from is that there has been a long standing belief that if an Adrian Adonis type athletic fat guy ever came around, he would never make it since WWE is all about bodies. Now there's an athletic fat guy who the company seems to be getting behind (even if it's because of family connections) so people are getting into it.

    RAW tonight

I'm not saying he was terrible as a wrestler, but the visual of him in the ring with 13 other guys younger and in better shape than him did him no favors.
  4. Surely Dawn can't be that stupid to think that someone like Irv who has gone round and round with Jerry Goddamn McDevitt is going to be concerned with a legal threat like that. All Irv has to do is ask her to provide one shred of proof that any of the money that was donated went toward a single thing (which as a charity there should be documentation for tax purposes), and if that is provided he would take the posts down. There's likely no way she could do that in any way that would pass the laugh test.

    RAW tonight

Things I don't understand about WWE, volume #170: Why is Howard Finkel considered too old for TV despite still being by far the best wrestling announcer alive, yet they still let Jerry Lawler have a match on RAW? I mean, I like Memphis as much as the next guy, but 60 year old Jerry in the ring with the 2010 WWE roster is not a pretty sight.
  6. Wow, watching the Ric Flair-Precious story unfold on WWE 24/7 and I never realized how creepy it is. The whole story is pretty much Flair stating he's going to date rape her since she turned down his advances.
  7. I think it's pretty clear that Dave has a large blind spot when it comes to people he associates with. It's sometimes difficult to listen to their Observer Radio shows when Dave is trying to give insight on something and Bryan is yelling and swearing like someone who should be walking around town with a "The end is near" sandwich board. Sometimes it comes across as Dave maybe being too nice of a guy and doesn't have the heart to get rid of anyone. Once you're in his crew, you're seemingly in 4 life.
  8. Ironically that video also featured 3 Minute Warning destroying the "HLA" lesbians, which I thought was worse than Trish barking like a dog since that one girl got kicked in the chest stiff as hell.
  9. I may have asked this before, but was there a reason Villano V was unmasked? I thought that would have been one of the guys who would keep the mask forever. IV and V worked in WCW so I would imagine they would be OK financially, so I don't see money being a reason. I guess the only masks truly off limits are Santo and guys who would never agree to lose like Canek or Mascaras. Speaking of Mascaras, I wonder how he and Dos Sr. feel about Dos Jr. working in WWE maskless. Maybe they can just pretend it's not him since he's using a different name like Villano IV did in WCW.
  10. So basically being the President of Titan Sports behind the scenes was about as meaningful as being President of the WWF on TV.
  11. Wasn't that exactly what was going to happen until the WWF plucked the Sheepherders right before the Clash that was set to have the tournament final? That was always my favorite "Vince fucks the NWA" move just because of how obvious a middle finger it was to the NWA.
  12. I don't see how us poking fun at badly written WO.com articles is anywhere close to the same thing as the head of what was at the time one of the biggest indies dropping the n-bomb, but whatever. Wrestling is a ridiculous industry full of ridiculous people, and the stories of their antics can be and often are hilarious. I'm not saying we offer any great social commentary, but people who spend a long time in the business tend to be in a bubble that causes them to say things that would make most normal people say "what the FUCK?" on a regular basis. When something positive happens, we discuss it. Jim Cornette in particular has a long track record of throwing tantrums like a spoiled child and really acting in a way that should be embarrassing to most human beings. Since he also has a long track record of being pretty good at pro wrestling (at least the promo aspect of it), he's never really been called out on it until the recent deal with him sending threatening emails to TNA. He's really the grown up version of the bratty kid you see acting up in a store you would gladly volunteer to slap the shit out of because their parents are ignoring them.
  13. Was her charity the one that was supposed to be getting Steve Williams his electronic voicebox? Conning con men is one thing, conning a cancer patient is pretty low.
  14. Not to belabor the point, but why shouldn't people dwell on it? Dismissive attitudes are a big reason all our collective -ism's stick around so much.
  15. For as much as Linda harps on being the CEO of WWE, has anyone in CT mentioned she only got the job because Vince was afraid he was going to go to jail? You'd think that would be the first thing a political opponent would mention.
  16. Oh man.... I'm not surprised, mind you, but still.... oh man. Here's another gem from that Yahoo profile: I don't think there's a rolleyes emoticon big enough to reply properly to that.
  17. Umm...what?!?! (Also, the latest from Wahlers is not a pay site article, so...yay?) How about the rest of that Babbysack quote: I can only imagine that the Babby's opinionz4u re: politics must be astounding.
  18. So I guess that firmly entrenches Cornette in the Hall of People Who Get a Pass For Being Dicks Because They're Good At Pro Wres?
  19. Child actor Bobb'e J. Thompson is set to guest host RAW in October, according to WO.com. We should set an over/under on how long it takes anyone from the site to realize he's the kid in the new PSP commercials and not just a kid in the movie Cena is making.
  20. Because, I guess "rock and roll concerts" have never been like wrestling, with the sleazy promoters and entertainment. I was listening to that and thought the same thing. Clearly concert promotion is nothing like pro wrestling, what with all the local promoters largely replaced by a nationwide conglomerate. The one thing that is exactly like wrestling, and Dave missed it completely. Maybe he has some form of dyslexia.

    RAW tonight

The cynic in me wonders if Hunter saw the plans for SummerSlam with the 7 on 7 tag and decided now was a good time to get his arm surgery done.
  22. I think MMA is a convenient excuse for an indy group that has threatened to shut down several times in the past, and with a few exceptions have put on a horrible product.
  23. Wait, Spike is pushing TNA to hire Heyman? I thought they had a messy breakup over Heyman mocking them on ECW TV back when they were on the Nashville Network.
  24. "World Wide Wrestling Entertainment".....on one hand, an inexcusable goof for a major news outlet. on the other, it's a hilarious amalgam of 40 years of wrestling history.
  25. (because Loss is probably sick of all the MMA=wrestling talk) So it was a pretty good show, all things considered. All the matches delivered (well ok, I missed the Divas title match but no one died so I'll assume that it was uneventful), as WWE seems to be continuing the "push new guys" environment that they have had going on recently. I know that sounds odd on a show where Kane won and cashed in the Money in the Bank, but I have a feeling that one day we'll look back at the Miz in the Raw match like we do for HBK in the ladder match with Razor. I've thought for a while he has that elusive "it" that you need to succeed in wrestling, and it looks like this will be his chance to run with the ball. I always think that they'll run out of creative things to do with the ladders in the MITB matches, but watching Morrison create a Rube Goldberg device to climb from one ladder to another had me marking out. I was surprised how little heat the Sheamus/Cena match had. I wonder how much of that was the Nexus creating the nWo Effect where the crowd knows a run in is coming at some point and don't bother getting excited about the match. Also I noticed a rare oversight in production. After Sheamus escaped the cage, they showed him running through the crowd but you didn't see (or at least I didn't see) any of the Nexus guys chasing him, nor did the announcers mention it. Then when Cena was beating up Young and Tarver I spent the whole time thinking "what happened to the rest of the Nexus?" Normally WWE is better at making things like that clear to the viewer. Also I'm not sure how well they sold the "Cena won the battle but lost the war" part of the match when we were supposed to believe Nexus "won" by screwing Cena out of the title but the closing shots were 3 of them laid out. The tag match was nice too, I hope they didn't lose faith in the Usos and Tamina already by how much the angle was depushed after their initial awesome debut.
