  1. I think Bob Backlund lasted over an hour in the 93 match, he was #2 and the last guy eliminated.
  2. Flair was in the 92 Rumble for 59:26
  3. Yeah but Rey and Benoit, if they're lucky to get on the card, will be stuck in the mid-card at best in a pointless match rather than being further up the card than they belong. The only exception would be if they had a Benoit-Finlay match at WM. That'd be almost worth the DVD price right there.
  4. WWE needs to do something, as this is quickly becoming the worst WM card ever. There's either no drama or no interest in any match so far: Cena/HHH: This match will probably have no heat once it becomes clear Huntermania's going to run wild yet again and the crowd's already not too crazy about Cena. Angle/Orton: I think the crowd's going to shit on this due to Orton being shoved in another WM main he has no business being involved in. The only thing worse than the whole Eddy deal is that they're doing all this and Orton's not going to be any more over than he was before. Vince/HBK: Since Shawn's going to Special Attraction status after this, it doesn't matter who wins since one guy's not going to be around much afterward. HBK will probably win and Vince will show up on Raw saying it doesn't matter and the whole thing will be forgotten in a few months. Foley/Edge: What's it going to prove? Edge gets buried either way. Either he gets beat by a broken down retired wrestler, or he looks like a guy who can only get a win over a broken down retired wrestler. There's nothing else being built up with any potential either. Flair/Shelton maybe, but Shelton's a botched spot injury waiting to happen. Maybe Masters/Carlito vs Show/Kane, but that's probably going to be a short brawl with a screwy ending.
  5. I thought that, but then the show also featured an Announcer Shoot Mode Moment with Big Momma which came after the Smackdown Rebound showing them using Eddie's corpse to put over Randy Orton. That made me lean towards the "FU to the smarks" feeling since using Maria to help Cena would be a rare smart booking move in a company that seems to be making bad moves by the bushel. Speaking of the new happy couple, anyone else half-expect a CM Punk run in when Cena was making out with Maria?
  6. Well Smackdown got the best ratings on UPN on Thursdays, so TNA has a chance to catch some eyes, certainly more than they had at Saturdays at 11. I just wish they would have got 90 minutes. 2 hours is too much, but an hour's not enough to get everyone the TV time they deserve.
  7. I'm trying to wrap my head around how skull-crushingly boring a 65 minute Bruno vs Pedro match must have been.
  8. Wow, nice to see WWE staying current with a Castro parody. That's cutting edge social commentary. I'm guessing the Bushwhackers 2006 team would be the Highlanders in OVW. All reports seem to say they suck so at least they won't be killing any potential stars with that one. HBK going to special attraction status seems to suggest Big Dave was right when he thought Shawn was hiding an injury. What more can be said about Johnny Ace treating Eddie's funeral as a networking opportunity? Stay classy, WWE.
  9. I wonder if the WWE was making an inside joke by teaming the person the smarks hate the most (Cena) with the person they love the most (Maria).
  10. Smackdown is still on Thursdays in Canada. The only thing that sucks about it is that it puts them up against CSI, which is where most networks put shows to die. I don't know any stats about the wrestling-to-CSI audience crossover but I know that I watch both, and something's going to end up getting Tivo'ed.
  11. I'd be willing to bet that HHH's beef with Jericho is some extension of his problem with the Rock, since Chris was one of the guys that Rock put over as a star. HHH's life quest was to destroy anyone the Rock made look good, and Chris was one of those guys.
  12. Angry Cornette + mic time = GOLD. It's awesome and at the same time sad that WWE had this guy at their disposal and decided scripted, bland promos were better than this.
  13. From what I recall it was pretty much HHH telling Vince that Jericho wasn't up to his standards.
  14. Actually I think a Cena DVD is a bad idea, since not only would it show Cena's not really that great a wrestler, the main program part would pretty much destroy his gimmick if they talked to his whitebread family and friends in the middle of Whitesville Suburbia and then cut to Cena all "YO YO, WHERE MY CLICK AT HOMIEZ???"
  15. I wouldn't mind a Big Show DVD. It would remind people how awesome he was back when he gave a shit.
  16. I will be upset if there's no mention of the PAY WINDA, DADDY.
  17. I'm all over the Dusty Rhodes DVD. It would be funny if they included a random WCW Saturday Night squash match just to capture the magic of his commentary.
  18. Cena gets a big pop for his entrance, but the longer his match goes (and the more offense he gets) the more the boos creep in. Considering HHH likes his main events to go 30 minutes more or less, it's going to expose Cena just like it exposed Scott Steiner. In fact, a long HHH-Cena match might end up causing the crowd to do a double turn like Austin-Hart.
  19. As clueless as they are with the current product, they seem to know exactly what the fans want from their DVD releases. Maybe they should let the Home Video department book for a while.
  20. WWE.com posted a list: Austin vs. McMahon: The Definitive Collection Brian Pillman: Loose Cannon Hulk Hogan: The Ultimate Anthology Born to Controversy: The Roddy Piper Story The Spectacular Legacy of the AWA John Cena: The Time is Now I'm not interested in the Austin/McMahon stuff or the Cena stuff, but everything else is a must.
  21. They don't need to be wasting everyone's time with this shit, just have HHH come out and demand the title shot because he's the GAME-UHH and the King of Kings (side tangent: how come everyone's no sold Hunter using Jesus's gimmick?). He's come out and demanded shit before and got it, why not do it again and spare the viewers having to watch the whole roster job to HHH in one night.
  22. Stuff like this is so disheartening. We know HHH needs his binky back and now he's got to go over everyone first so when he does get it there won't be any believable challengers for him to face.
  23. It seems like every fed in Japan has offshoots these days, is there any clear way of explaining who's tied to who? Japan's starting to look like the territory days where there was a zillion promotions all affiliated with a larger group. Also, am I correct in placing the big 3 Japan feds as NOAH>All Japan>New Japan? I know AJ had some problems, but from what I can tell they've started to rebound and NJ has hit the skids hard.
  24. I've seen TAKA do it in his WWF run (when they were trying to get the Lightheavyweight divison over and he wasn't a jobber) and in Japan, and it always looked like a bodyslam to me. It was always sold as a head drop bump by whoever was taking it, but I never saw it that way.
  25. I dunno, I wouldn't fear a Michinoku Driver, it's just a bodyslam with the person delivering the move sitting on his ass. I'd fear TAKA not being able to lift me with his 12 year old girl arms, but the actual move wouldn't be bad.
