I don't like it when mommy and daddy fight.... Having said that, I agree that ECW doesn't really age well, but I think a lot of it has to do with WCW and especially WWF/E killing the "hardcore" aspect with zillions of matches featuring jobbers hitting each other with obviously gimmicked weapons. Watching ECW now, it doesn't seem like anything special. It's like watching the Jumping Bomb Angels doing powerbombs in 1985 WWF, it's no big deal now but that shit was revolutionary at the time.

Wow, people were giving it star ratings? I've only heard people call it one of if not the best Rumble match, which I'd agree with. I don't understand how you could assign stars to a battle royale, no matter what your snowflake critera may be.
-
I don't think you can really rate a Royal Rumble match the same way you'd rate a regular wrestling match. As battle royales go, Rumble 92 is one of the best. As a wrestling match, it's not going to compare with a singles or tag match.

I'm surprised you would say that, I've always thought it was one of the few Rumbles that wasn't the usual "boring as shit till the final sequence" routine. I just happened to watch it again last night and the sequence between Flair and Piper is just awesome, and Jake just makes it even more awesomer by sliding in the ring and then sitting back in the corner so they can continue beating the shit out of each other. It definately had its slow points where there was too much jobberage clogging up the ring (and Warlord being sold as a credible threat to win even with #30 was a LOL-worthy moment), but you really can't avoid that when you book 30 guys in a hour+ match.

I was always under the impression that when he came back in 1993, he wanted to be booked like it was still the mid 80s (not doing jobs for anyone) and Vince just got tired of dealing with it. The way he went out, getting practically squashed by Yokozuna and jobbing to a leg drop of all moves, suggested that Vince was trying to make a point.
-
The first thing that came to mind is that 1992 WWF probably is what finalized Vince's big man/sports entertainment mindset. One of their best years workwise was one of the worst finanically, and we know which one is more important to Vince. It was probably killing him when he had to push the smaller guys after the whole trial mess.

It's now being said that Shannon has been offered a contract from TNA and WWE, but hasn't offically signed either yet. This could be the most hilarious bidding war ever.

Rico's out of the business now, and they have talked to Chuck Palumbo. -

I don't think Vince would take Stacy leaving that personally. I think they're just offering Test a deal since they think TNA looks at talent the same way they do and Test must be someone they're looking to sign. -
Also, I would be remiss if I didn't mention TNA is looking into the logistics of having a War Games match at the all-cage Lockdown PPV.

TNA's new timeslot will now be 11pm Thursday rather than the previously announced prime time slot. This is probably good news since the 9pm slot had Impact running before UFC rather than after, which would have really hurt their ratings. Anything that gets them out of Saturday Night Hell would be a good thing. Raven has stabilized at 280 pounds, his undisclosed medical problem that caused him to take leave from TNA is that his thyroid is shot from his years of drug abuse. If you missed the last PPV, Scott Steiner is now sporting a chest tattoo that has a sword piercing a heart. Unfortunately, from a distance it knd of looks like a giant penis. TNAwrestling posted this newsbit, apparently Eric Young of Team Canada almost died recently: Impact Spoilers for the next two weeks:

TNA is owned by an energy company. If their finances become tight, there'll be bigger problems than pro wrestling.

I like how Vince put the word out to sign everyone TNA is interested in, and all they've done is sign Moore and a bunch of guys TNA didn't even have interest in. I chuckle at the thought of Vince in a classic Bond Villan pose thinking that signing Shannon will hurt TNA in any form whatsoever.
-
If WWE cared about the Cruisers, I'd say this was a good move since they have an angle with him and Helms just begging to play out. Unfortunately, this was probably nothing more than a thumb in the eye to TNA and Moore will be jobbing on internet Velocity in 3 months.

Sabin and Jay Lethal are the confirmed members of Team USA so far.

Wetting it down makes your hair look even thinner. Besides, I don't think anyone would hold it against him if he looked at bit thin on top at 57. -

Why has Ric Flair's hair been wet for like the last 5 years? I'd understand it if it was only like that when he wrestled, but it's like the man constantly goes around looking like he just walked out of the shower and put a suit on without bothering to towel off. It makes him look even older than he already is. -
The latest entrant in the WWE HOF.....Verne Gagne? OK, so Wrestlemania's in Chicago which was a big AWA town, but I never expected to see Vince ever acknowledge Verne having any role in the business other than being the guy who didn't see the potential in Hulk Hogan.

It's funny to see the evolution of acceptable wrestling. A few years ago, submission wrestling was widely bashed as being boring and high flying was where it's at. Now it's cool to bash high flyers as "spot monkeys" and people seemingly want every match to look like a MMA contest.

They don't have it on the largest cable company in the US (Comcast) at all.

I just wish JR would stay behind the scenes. I know he's been a loyal employee and he used to be the best announcer of the professional wrestling, but once he started confusing the Dudleys it was time to step away from the mic. He's one of the best at getting an angle over, but he was quickly becoming horrible at getting individual workers over. Remember the wacky hilarity when Edge, Jericho, and Christian would all be in a match and JR was calling everyone by the wrong names? I have my footage of Mid South/UWF/NWA if I want to hear JR when he was at the top of his game. When a wrestler who's obviously past his prime still tries to make a go of it, people call him on it, why should an announcer be any different?

It's funny WWE 24/7 is considered a disappointment when it doesn't seem to be available to anyone on a major cable system. I know I'd get it if it was offered, and it's not.

It's probably hard to argue when Vince asks you to get implants, considering Steph has them and all... -
I'm kinda surprised they released a DVD of him to be honest, since Dusty's the antithesis of everything WWE wants their workers to be. They wany everyone to have the same look with the toned bodies and get themselves over using the same cookie cutter promos everyone else uses. Dusty wouldn't even get a tryout in Deep South if he broke into the business today.
