  1. Coach talking to Joey Styles like he's a newb is really annoying, to the point where it's distracting from the match at hand.
  2. I was watching WM 13 today, and I really dug the HHH vs Goldust match. Goldust's one of my favorites and he made HHH look like a million bucks in his first competitive WM appearance after getting squashed by Warrior the year before. Chyna whipping Terri like a rag doll ruled too, and it made me remember how awesome Chyna was before she got her jaw shaved off and showed everyone her she-penis. Then Goldust showed up on RAW tonight and made me mark out. Someone book Goldust vs Shelton's Momma for the next PPV. The promos alone would be worth the $35.
  3. I believe he did use it as a finisher for a time. Lets not forget Sgt. Slaughter's Death Noogie he used during his Iraqi sympathizer run. Yes noogies hurt, but it's weak seeing a guy in pro wrestling using a move that you did to your little brother when you were kids.
  4. Bob Backlund's Atomic Drop of Doom was pretty lame even by 70s standards.
  5. The Vertebreaker, hands down.
  6. I can't believe Kevin Von Erich's son wants to get into the business. I guess they must not talk about his uncles very much. Isn't it ironic that DiBiase has heat for being too 80s, yet they wanted to team up Dean Visk with the WARLORD? Who's more 80s than him?
  7. Good thing WCW's still not around or Benoit-Rey would be an Eddie-on-a-pole match.
  8. All Randy has to do is point out that the fans aren't really cheering for Rey, they're cheering for Eddie. There's potential there, but Randy doesn't have the charisma to pull off the needed promos.
  9. Edge's title run is offically the most pointless ever. Did someone just have a panic attack when they decided to have Cena drop the belt or what? All they've established is that Edge can't win straight up against Cena and the fans still don't want to see him as champ.
  10. Ok, so JBL, a guy that totally revamped his character into a highly entertaining heel who held the WWE title for a year....gets squashed by the circus freak. Really, I'd LOVE to hear the apologists' defense there. And apparently the Rumble match is now, so I guess the winner will use his title shot tonight. Which apologists? People who like JBL? Or the Boogeyman? I don't get who you're mad at there.
  11. Interesting tidbits: - Kurt Angle is said to be working through a back injury, in addition to his regular neck problems. Shawn Michaels, who seems to be working in pain, says he is not retiring any time soon. - Rene Dupree has suffered a second hernia and his career is in jeopardy at the young age of 22. - Chris Benoit's wife Nancy ("Woman") had neck fusion surgery in December from Dr. Lloyd Youngblood. (sek note: is Benoit practicing Germans at home?) - Backstage, wrestlers have been talking a lot about shrinking physiques since plans for a drug testing and wellness policy were announced. Even "cut" wrestlers that still appear so on TV aren't as "thick." - There is a split within WWE on the philosophy of WWE.com -- breaking stories before other IWC sites do vs. staying kayfabe. - Shelton Benjamin's negative push late last year was due to him copping an attitude with a veteran agent. (sek note: Dean Visk was recently released from OVW when he was asked by WWE agents who his role models were in wrestling and he said Ultimate Warrior and Kerry Von Erich. Ted DiBiase pointed out that those probably aren't the best guys to pattern after and Visk publically blew him off) - Ric Flair was recently seen making out with his younger girlfriend in a parking lot at New Year's Revolution. Woo! - WWE is hiring seat-fillers for empty on-camera seats at the TV tapings and PPV events. They are told to be polite, brings signs, and not drink too much, among other guidelines. - Vince told workers they could not work a planned Eddie Guerrero tribute show on December 16. Meanwhile, Johnny Ace let the Mexicools wrestle at a December 23 show in Guadalajara in front of 1000 vs. Chuck Palumbo and Crazyboy. - WWE is considering doing a movie on Eddie Guerrero's life.
  12. I don't know if this is a wrestling thought or a video game thought, but I hooked my n64 up to my living room TV and now I'm enjoying VPW2 in 25 inch goodness rather than the tiny ass TV in my bedroom.
  13. That photo of Vince is Exhibit A why people will never take a WWE drug policy seriously. Also, after reading that History of the WBF article on East Coast J's blog, seeing Vince on the cover of a Joe Weider mag is like seeing Sting on the cover of WWF/E Magazine
  14. Someone had a feed of Smackdown up before it aired in the US, and that was pulled. Other than that, I haven't heard of anything getting removed.
  15. Watching all the puro I obtained lately, I'm confident when I say Giant Baba may have been the most weirdly shaped human ever.
  16. As far as I'm aware, you don't download things from YouTube, it's a streaming video kind of thing. I'm sure there's a way to do it, but it probably involves some kind of extra software. I don't know if that makes a difference when it comes to the TOS of the board, but I just wanted to throw that out there.
  17. I don't get how Henry holding a title devalues it. Even if he's just holding it for someone like Rey to win it from him, that alone makes it a worthy effort. I say if Angle can't go, have Henry beat him and build up Rey winning it at Mania. Have Rey win the rumble and build the chase. Talk about your Wrestlemania Moments, having Rey win the title in memory of his friend (and if you want to go for maximum emotional effect, have Benoit, Malenko, and Chavo come out and have a tearful embrace and not leave a dry eye in the house).
  18. You wanna talk about business-exposing moves, how about all of Rey's opponents always happen to find themselves laying across the ropes in perfect position for the 619? At least the People's Elbow only required a guy laying on the mat, and not some elaborate setup that a five year old could see through.
  19. People need to get over the irrational Henry hate. They guy's shown improvement, and he's had some good matches in the last couple weeks. He'll never be Lou Thesz but he's not the Shockmaster either.
  20. In fact, after Jeter turned heel in OVW, Burke delivered an awesome promo basically promising to kill Jeter for what he did and the crowd went batshit for it.
  21. I watched the Akebono tag match from the most recent NOAH show, and I thought he was pretty good for a superheavyweight. Everyone seems to be pretty down on him but I thought he was alright for someone who's basically the real Yokozuna (literally and gimmick wise).
  22. Wasn't HBK working through a knee injury right around the time he started back full time again? I don't think he ever got it repaired, and it could be what Dave's talking about now. I agree 100% with his opinion on the Spirit Squad. I actually thought their debut was pretty funny (WHEN COACH ROCKS THE HOUSE!) but anyone who's watched OVW since Heyman took over knows what a waste of Johnny Jeter this is. His gimmick in OVW was basically Shawn Michaels at the height of his dick heel mode, and now he's another generic short haired WWE newbie in a group that all looks the same. I wish Elijah Burke would have taken the gimmick since it probably would have spared one of the guys in it now, and it would have added a bit of visual comedy seeing a black guy in a group with a bunch of preppy looking white boys.
  23. I get that Graham should have been prepared to lose the belt when he was told, but Vince Sr was dumb for not seeing the potential in him. I don't know if he didn't "get" what Superstar was doing, but there was no reason why he couldn't have turned him face.
  24. I just hope WWE gives us a Finlay-Regal matchup. I remember thinking their one WCW match was a shoot because of how they were just beating the piss out of each other.
  25. I just finished watching the DVD, and while it was a really good illustration of Graham's career, there were several things that bugged me: 1. It's getting annoying to see Vince being praised like the next Jesus on *every* DVD they make. OK, he's the boss and he made WWE what it is today, but can they make one tribute to an ex superstar without having a whole segment devoted to how Vince's tears cure cancer. 2. They completely threw Superstar under the bus for the whole steroid trial mess. The feds were looking at Vince for a while and while Graham's lawsuit opened the door they were going to go after Vince no matter what. It was also disgusting to hear them cast doubt on the effects of steroids when this was the first DVD released after Eddie's death. 3. Vince is obviously a huge mark for Superstar. Someone (JR?) said Graham was the model that Vince wanted all his wrestlers to look like, and that would explain why Vince would forgive a guy he seems to put all the blame for being put on trial. 4. HHH needs to shut up. I hate how he's always the biggest fan of whoever the DVD's about. I had to watch WM XII afterwards just to see him get squished by Warrior. 5. It seemed kinda sad to see first how Superstar wanted to turn face and have a longer run as champ (which Vince agreed later would have been huge), only to have the rug pulled out from him because Vince Sr. wanted to go back to the All American Babyface champ. Not only did it send him down a spiral, he ended up having to crawl back to Vince since he was basically broke and his medical problems were piling up. Now it seemed they were using him as a punching bag and he had to agree with whatever was being said since if there's anyone who couldn't afford to lose his Legends deal it's him.
