  1. Or they'll find a doctor to prescribe them for rehab purposes, despite that not going well the last time.

I can see Christian being the guy to help TNA over hump. At least more so than JJ, but I think Christian can be a much better Face of the Company in terms of press.

I think the Sting Tribute getting booed out of the building before it started sent a message to TNA that it's time to move the belt.
  4. Some guys have gotten smaller, like Edge and Randy Orton, but then you have Chris Masters out there still puffed up and rapidly balding so who knows. Eric S over at Inside Pulse is of the opinion that the whole plan was just to scare people into cycling off, and that seeing some guys get thin would convince the audience that they must be testing.
  5. What about the argument that Angle is today's equvalent to Savage? In a way I see what point they were going for, but it doesn't seem like the two are in the same ballpark most nights.
  6. That thread made me cry since it's a pretty safe bet no one posting in it has ever seen pre-WWF Savage.
  7. I can still distribute the shows, I'm about halfway done with Loss's stuff so I'm still looking forward to this project.
  8. I think he was just pissed that UFC has been hammering the point home in their commercials that what they do is REALLY REALLY REAL and that chucklehead referred to them as "characters" which puts you in the mind of pro wrestling.
  9. The rumors she's referring to most likely are the one that said she was making inappropriate moves toward HHH. It seems that WWE just thought she was another broad in it for the money and would just quit when asked to go to OVW.
  10. I understand its hard to schedule real fights for live TV, but as a lifelong wrestling fan who really wants to give UFC a fair shake it was just too much for my channel changing reflex.
  11. Wow, there's sure a lot of talking on this show. Makes RAW look fast paced by comparison.
  12. I always thought it was a bit creepy hearing Bret talk about hearing guys scream in the basement as if it was a normal noise like a banging furnace. I guess Stu thought it was a good way to nip any potential ego problems in the bud, and you can't argue with the level of talent in the guys who've been in the Dungeon, but I can't help but think Thesz has a point about it not being too sporting to stretch the piss out of newbs just for the sake of it.
  13. They could do what they did the last time Taker was matched with someone he couldn't do a finish on, and have him get smothered by a chloroform rag.
  14. That's pretty risky, putting Taker with Henry. Not even taking the potentially horrible matches into account, why put someone with a bad habit of injuring people with a guy who's been part timing it because he's on the tail end of his career.
  15. The moral of the story is never try to get fired or you'll have an Irishman squish your head like a grape.
  16. This is from the Stampede Classics set I got from Mort, and it's an interesting match for a couple reasons. First, and most obviously, Yamada is Jushin Lyger wrestling sans mask and under his real name. Secondly, I don't know if it's Yamada's first match in North America or just in Stampede, but he's palpably nervous out there. Probably worried about Stu kicking his ass if he screws up. Thirdly, I don't know if its because he's not wearing the Lyger bodysuit, but Yamada looks thick here. He looks like a hoss-in-training rather than what he'd end up becoming. The best comparison I can make is he looks like a young Mr. Saito out there. The match itself reminds me of the Muta (as the Ninja) match from the Best of Florida set that Mike Graham put out. Both feature guys who end up becoming legends doing stuff that was unheard of for the time period. Poor Ed Whalen can barely call the match as there's stuff being done that he's obviously never seen. Anything remotely resembling a flip of any sort gets called a somersault. Beef holds the match together well, and I'm reminded of the thread earlier around here saying that he could have been a superstar with Benoit had he made better business decisions. He looks very Benoit-esque throughout this set and I have no doubts he could have been bigger had the cards played out differently. The match itself isn't really too remarkable, Yamada wins after a flip off the top rope, but it's interesting for historical purposes and as a glimpse of what might have been with Beef.
  17. I don't know how WWE's legal team became something to be feared considering they've lost almost every case they've ever tried. The only big win was the steroid trial and that was mostly because the feds botched their case.
  18. I bet he has a "Jump to Conclusions" mat at home.
  19. So do 99% of the people who sign one, I'd gather. This must mean either Mark Henry went to law school or he has the best lawyer in the universe. What else could explain WWE honoring his whole 10 year deal when everyone else gets dropped within a year of signing a deal.
  20. Hot off the presses from DVDVR: All the Kurt Angle stories/rumors are BS, and if you happen to notice his rapid physical decline then you're being ghoulish and cheering for his demise. And with that, I go to sleep before I punch my monitor.
  21. His run as WWF tag champ with Tony Garea in 1980 gets little love as well. In fact most WWF from 80 up till Hogan pinned the Shiek seems to have been forgotten due to being the valley between the end of the 70s and the beginning of Hulkamania.
  22. It might not even require that. The Lesnar case might do it, and it would be WWE who took the matter to court to begin with.
  23. Martel did blow out his knee, but his career was ended by a Stevie Ray botching a move and injuring his neck.
  24. Vince's biggest fear is the people he's been using as his playthings and tossing aside when he no longer has use for them finally taking him to court. It's not an overstatement to say that legal challenges could shake the foundations of WWE. The most obvious example being the whole "independent contractor" business that allows WWE to not pay any benefits, unemployment, or worker's comp. A true independent contractor is free to work for as many people as he can handle. My friend the building contractor sometimes works for 2 or 3 different builders when the work gets slow. A WWE employee can only work for WWE unless they approve the booking, and on the rare occaison they do it's only for backwater indies and never a major company (like say, NJPW). WWE is trying to have its cake and eat it too by calling their workers independent contractors and then trying to limit where they can ply their trade. The Lesnar case is proving this. WWE is either going to have to start calling their workers what they are, employees, and pay what that entails (namely unemployment and worker's comp) or stick to calling them independent contractors and allow them to work for any company they can get a booking with. Either way would be a monumental change in the way WWE operates.
  25. Hard Gay is a Japanese comedian, think of a Tom Green type who does wacky things to unsuspecting people, only he does so dressed like the biker from the Village People. You can find videos of his stuff on YouTube I think. If there's one thing constant in Japanese wrestling, there's always some promotion out there ready and willing to do a parody gimmick.
