    Matwork

Han, Tamura, Kohsaka, and other RINGS legends are awesome and all, but I don't really consider that matwork. Not in a pro wrestling point of view. I see them closer to MMA than pro wrestling. Of course they're gonna do matwork. I prefer stuff like Danielson's ROH career. He wanted to be the chiropractor for the entire roster.
  2. What part of that did Flair take a poke at Randy? It read like a co-worker and/or friend describing someone else with honesty and good memories. I don't know, I might be reading it wrong
  3. Highspots is running a buy one get one free Memorial Day special right now. They have a best of UWFI on there as one of the specials.
  4. Welcome Tabe!

  6. Sorry to hijack the thread but holy crap. Talk about forum growth without actual growth. Nice response Doc.
  7. Creature incapable of feeling pain - man of legendary tough denotation - creature incapable of feeling pain. For all the faults that HHH has, Taker has just as many, man.
  8. Yeah, most be convenient for his career, huh?
  9. Big Show, yes. Taker, not so much.
  10. Speaking of handicap matches, back when the Undertaker was feuding with D-X (Gunn, Dogg, X-Pac), he routinely defeated them in handicapped matches. Hell, he beat A-Train and the Big Show at WrestleMania in a handicap match. Didn't the Big Show beat like four or five guys at a PPV before?
  11. My post last night, while Pro-HHH in delivery, is not meant to be taken literally as Pro-HHH. I'm closer to Anti-HHH than Pro-HHH. I have enjoyed snippets of his career, like certain matches from 2000-04. The matches are the ones people have loved or hated. Without going on and on and on like some do here, I will simply say this: Triple H discussions are like John Cena discussions to me. The horse is dead. Has been for a long time. Either add something new or move along. I get it that Hunter holds people back, buries his enemies, and is a general asshole - just like the Superman Cena topic, I know all of that stuff.
  12. I must have had my head outside of reality when I made that post, then.
  13. I don't get the HHH hate still. Yeah, he has been a dick for a very long time, but he had his shoulders pinned or has submitted a lot too. He has more losses than the Undertaker at WrestleMania. He's lost TWICE to the Undertaker AT WrestleMania. When does Taker ever really job? In fact, when was his last clean pinfall loss? How about submission loss? Wrestlemania 18: Win (Vs Chris Jericho) The Jericho Experiment had failed. Hunter had returned from quad surgery. Hunter was hot, Jericho was not. Obvious business choice. Obviously did not work, though. Hogan was around and wanted a title reign. He got one. Wrestlemania 19: Win (Vs Booker T) Booker T was never that big. His program with the Rock was good, but never the main attraction. Booker T held the WCW World title after Russo and Arquette got their turns with it. Wrestlemania 20: Loss (Vs Chris Benoit/Shawn Michaels) Okay, obvious here. He submitted in the center of the ring, at Madison Square Garden, to a workrate monkey, in the main event of the twentieth anniversary of the WWF's biggest show of the year. Wrestlemania 21: Loss (Vs Batista) He put over Big Dave. Batista went on to be a multiple time World Champion. Did Batista win his feud against the Undertaker? Or at WrestleMania for that matter? Wrestlemania 22: Loss (Vs John Cena) Put over Cena. By submission to boot. Wrestlemania 24: Loss (Vs Randy Orton/John Cena) He wasn't the one pinned, but he didn't make the pin either. Wrestlemania 25: Win (Vs Randy Orton) They had been trading the strap back and forth for some time. The feud that would not end. Not all HHH's fault either. This kind of argument pisses me off, though. You guys are supposed to be the smart fans. Hunter does nothing different from what any one of you people would do in a business that unforgiving. Just because he is or has buried your favorite wrestler, so what. That dude you would screw over to make more money or keep your position longer, your screwing over someone’s favorite too. And it’s not like you personally know Chris Jericho, or Booker T, or whoever else Triple H has buried. Many say Orton was and has been buried by Hunter. But it was fine for Misawa to kick the dog shit out of Kawada and Kobashi for years, let alone Akiyama and Taue. Hypocrisy pisses me off, man.
  14. I appreciate it, man. Thank you. Here's what I've found today from Lynch's list (pertaining to 1995 & stuff I've never heard of): 1-2-95 Stan Hansen & Johnny Smith vs. Can-Am Express AJPW This match stuck out to me because all four competitors are awesome workers. 1-2-95 Steve Williams & Johnny Ace vs. Kenta Kobashi & Tsuyoshi Kikuchi AJPW Again, all four wrestlers are top flight workers. Ace and Williams had already had some excellent matches in '94, and they are further destined for excellence in March of '95 and then another classic in June of '96. Kobashi and Kikuchi had years of experience together. 1-19-95 Johnny Smith, Steve Williams & Johnny Ace vs. Doug Furnas, Dan Kroffat & Stan Hansen AJPW I'm drooling here. 1-22-95 Great Sasuke & Yoshiaki Fujiwara vs. TAKA Michinoku & El Samurai Tokyo (Best of Michinoku Pro #4) People 'round these parts love them Fujiwara. I'd like to see Fujiwara in M-Pro working against two crazy bumpers like TAKA and Samurai and to have a partner like the insane Sasuke. 1-29-95 Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue vs. Can-Am Express AJPW Two of the top five tag teams are going at it. 3-4-95 Dan Kroffat vs. Yoshinari Ogawa AJPW They are not known for their awesome singles matches, but they are known as excellent tag workers. I'm willing to bet they can impress in singles matches though. 4-13-95 Mitsuharu Misawa vs. Dan Spivey AJPW I think this would be an awesome slugfest. Although it may be too dated for Spivey. 4-15-95 Stan Hansen, Kenta Kobashi & Jun Akiyama vs. Toshiaki Kawada, Johnny Ace & Takao Omori AJPW Anytime Kawada faces the other big names in All Japan really good things happen. 7-20-95 Toshiaki Kawada & Akira Taue vs. Can-Am Express AJPW Two of the top five tag teams are going at it. Again. 9-2-95 Toshiaki Kawada, Akira Taue & Masanobu Fuchi vs. Mitsuharu Misawa, Kenta Kobashi & Tamon Honda AJPW Again, I am drooling. All they need is Akiyama and they have 7-2-93 replicated. Honda is no Akiyama, but the dude can up his game when in the midsts of greatness. 9-10-95 Dan Kroffat vs. Yoshinari Ogawa AJPW I have a gut feeling Kroffat vs. Ogawa is better than most pimped cruiserweight matches in American history. 9-10-95 Survival Tag Series I think this would be awesome because All Japan very rarely jobs guys and/or teams out in short order. I don't have a clue if the match lasts that long but what I know of All Japan, my experiences tell me the match is not on the short side. Long tag matches in All Japan are typically awesome. 9-30-95 Stan Hansen & Johnny Smith vs. Can-Am Express AJPW Those same four awesome workers are beating each other again. 11-18-95 Stan Hansen & Gary Albright vs. Can-Am Express AJPW I think they will hit each other very hard in this match. 11-18-95 Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi vs. Johnny Smith & Rob Van Dam AJPW One of the best tag teams ever versus a underrated worker (Smith) and Bob Van Dammit. I think it would be a really good match. 11-29-95 Stan Hansen & Gary Albright vs. Mitsuharu Misawa & Kenta Kobashi AJPW Two of the best foreigners in Japan versus one of Japan's top teams ever. 12-14-95 Too Cold Scorpio vs. Jim Neidhart Bremen (Germany #60) (Street Fight) Too Cold has become a cult favorite lately. Neidhart was a capable hand. I think a gimmick setting where extended periods of selling (aka Neidhart catching his breath) are needed, Anvil would be an awesome worker. 12-15-95 Dave Finlay vs. Too Cold Scorpio Bremen (Germany #60) Two cult favorites. Is this their only match against each other? 12-16-95 Keiji Mutoh vs. Jim Neidhart Bremen (Germany #62) Thought this looked intriguing. I'm not high on the Mutoh scale of workrate, and I've already described Neidhart. Still. It looks neat. Looking through Lynch's list has really hit me. It is a humbling experience. That dude has too much wrestling I want. He just has too much wrestling. A book that has 2,609 pages of wrestling listings is insane. No wonder Will gets pissed when people don't open their mouths before he releases a set. He has to brave that beast alone.
  15. It would help your cause if you bothered to look at what was already nominated, or a mortal lock to be on.Yeah, you're right. I do read all of the posts, though. I just...like making enormous lists for some reason. I think you're getting confused with the Rey Mysterio Jr./Psicosis match from '95. I can't think of anyone who cites Santo vs. Psicosis as the best lucha match and in truth it's not very good. Yeah, you're also right...but to an extent. The match, to me, is excellent. One of my favorite lucha matches. Mr. Schneider loves it too! EDIT: I have been going through Lynch's 2,609 page list the last few days. There are so many matches I haven't seen or heard of. Many of them seem like they would be an awesome match. For example: Finlay vs. Brad Armstrong from Germany #58 stood out to me. I see it is on the Finlay comp, but listed as incomplete. Will - did you get it from Lynch? At any rate, is there an interest in a list of matches like that from Lynch's list? List making is a hobby of mine.
  16. Doesn't seem like that could be a legal contractual clause. The WWE is not the military. It will be interesting if this is true to see how pregnant she is.
  17. Drew is good but not that good.
  18. Simple answer: yes. How many ROH wrestlers are under a written or exclusive contract? They have lost nearly all of the talent they have ever really groomed before. Maybe Aries will come back? I don't know much about the new parent owner of ROH, but I am remaining optimistic about their future, although what I do know of Sinclair Broadcasting is not favorable. Hopefully they can pull it off, though. I also hope someone teaches Davey that moves are meant to be sold.
  19. ...who are really only in their mid-twenties. Who is the oldest member here?
  20. I want to see your birth certificate more than Obama's.
  21. Bueller?
  22. "Give me a hell yeah" is huge too. "Oh Yeah" might not be #1, but it is is the top ten.
  23. It doesn't matter how many talented road agents or bookers a company has. The man or woman who makes the final decision is what makes or breaks a company. Who is #1 in TNA?
  24. I think I have said "Ohhh Yeahhh" more times today then I ever have before. I wonder how many times Macho said it on a daily basis. Sorry, just an amusing thought. Like I can see him getting more money back from his taxes than he thought, "Ohhhhh Yeahhhh!" I also wonder what, if any, type of backlash this might cause and/or create. Since it was reported as a heart attack, and some people connect dots before all of the evidence is available, how long before the steroid talking point comes out to play? That being that it hasn't already.
  25. I don't even know what to say. I had thought late thirties, maybe even early forties. But not 26. Damn, man. Sorry.
