  1. Reminds me of the South Park W.T.F. episode: A lot of people have been drawing those comparisons lately.
  2. That might actually be an interesting poll But I agree with you on all accounts.
  3. That throws Taker-Cena out the window. So Meltzer, Keller, Caldwell, and Keith all liked the UT/HHH match, but a percentage of smart fans did not. Marks loved the match, people who get paid to write about the business loved the match, what does that say about smart marks? What is the consensus here?
  4. World Wrestling Entertainment is banned now, only WWE. http://www.411mania.com/wrestling/news/180...lanta,-More.htm
  5. My line involves things like what Ian Rotten and co. did to Mike Levy (it did feel like a snuff film), or women being treated similarly, but if it involves the things that typically draws outrage and protest from most people, like religion, politics, racial, etc - I could care less. Basically, I only care when it actually effects someone physically. Sticks and stones, man, sticks and stones.
  6. I know there were wrestlers you thought sucked, but it is rare to see you talk about them. I agree about Storm, he is very downey soft in his matches.
  7. Really? He has a bunch of good matches with Tanaka. Tagging with Tanaka vs the Dudleys, With Axl vs Candido and Storm and vs Sabu and RVD. VS RVD. Balls was a good hand. vs Tajiri, with Storm vs Gedo and Jedo, vs Awesome and Raven, Great matches with Mikey Whipwreck, vs Shane Douglas, vs Sabu. I liked him being mauled by Scott Norton. vs the Faces of Fear. As a face Miller had some fun unique looking offense. Really like their run as Southern Justice. Had some matches on Heat where they mauled guys. Breakdown 98 with Jarrett vs the Outlaws and X-Pac. In WCW had good matches with Steamboat and Douglas. Really you are not going to find anybody who had a run with a national promotion longer than a year and not find something good. He had a very good match with Hogan in 84. It was worked around him doing the hidden object schtick and he did it perfectly. I think it will be more interesting when you rag on wrestlers instead of praise them. I mean seriously, is there one wrestler you don't think is awesome? You and Dylan, man. I swear...
  8. Who knew I'd make a point for RE...
  9. It looked to have legit hurt/injured Kennedy. He didn't sell his arm being sandwiched in-between a ladder, which really tells me he was hurt. Taz and Tenay reacted weirdly too. Plus, Hardy looked...fucked up, but still recognized he had just hurt one of his co-workers.
  10. I learn something new everyday.
  11. I'm unaware of that. Is it yakuza related or something else entirely?
  12. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZhk_lX1PWs Does Hardy look messed up in this video, or is it just me?
  13. http://www.puroresu.com/awards/1980s.html Tiger Mask Awards: 1981 Popularity Award: Tiger Mask (New Japan) 1982 Wrestler of the Year: Tiger Mask (New Japan) Techinique Award: Tiger Mask (New Japan) Genichiro Tenryu Awards: 1981 Performance Award: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) 1983 Tag Team of the Year: Jumbo Tsuruta & Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) Fighting Spirit Award: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) 1984 Performance Award: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) 1985 Tag Team of the Year: Jumbo Tsuruta & Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) 1986 Wrestler of the Year: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) 1987 Wrestler of the Year: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) Match of the Year: Gen'ichiro Tenryu vs. Jumbo Tsuruta [All Japan 08/31 Nippon Budokan] Tag Team of the Year: Gen'ichiro Tenryu & Ashura Hara (All Japan) 1988 Wrestler of the Year: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) Match of the Year: PWF & NWA United National Heavyweight Title Unification Match: Gen'ichiro Tenryu vs. Stan Hansen [All Japan 07/27 Nagano] 1989 Match of the Year: Triple Crown Heavyweight Title Match: Gen'ichiro Tenryu vs. Jumbo Tsuruta [All Japan 06/05 Nippon Budokan] Tenryu is comparatively dominate to Tiger Mask in everything in the 1980s. Maybe that's why he is called "Mr. Puroresu"? Wrestler of the Year Awards 1980 Wrestler of the Year: Antonio Inoki (New Japan) 1981 Wrestler of the Year: Antonio Inoki (New Japan) 1982 Wrestler of the Year: Tiger Mask (New Japan) 1983 Wrestler of the Year: Jumbo Tsuruta (All Japan) 1984 Wrestler of the Year: Jumbo Tsuruta (All Japan) 1985 Wrestler of the Year: Tatsumi Fujinami (New Japan) 1986 Wrestler of the Year: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) 1987 Wrestler of the Year: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) 1988 Wrestler of the Year: Gen'ichiro Tenryu (All Japan) 1989 Wrestler of the Year: Akira Maeda (UWF) It appears that even in Japan, the voters choose TM only once, while Inoki and Tsuruta got WOTY twice, and Tenryu got it three times (in a row mind you). Does that say anything about his real popularity in Japan? TM also didn't win any match of the year awards in Japan, only in America (WON). Does that say anything about his working ability? If you cannot tell, those two questions I just imposed are rhetorical.
  14. It's not them acting like a typical corporation that bugs me; it's their usual hypocrisy with claiming that they're not just a typical corporation. The WWE is far more shameless than most capitalistic organizations when it comes to lying about how much they love their employees or how they do all of this for their great fans. I worked for Radio Shack a couples years ago and got lectured by the regional, district, and store supervisors for answering a question wrong on one of the mandatory monthly training exercises. I believe they used the John Doe example. In the question (written out like a story) it asked if John should be allowed to work another part-time job while employed by Radio Shack. This second job would actually pay him more and provide him the means to better support himself and/or his family. I instinctively answered yes to the question, and that's when the shit hit the fan. I was lectured that John's new job might interfere with his Radio Shack responsibilities. Being who I am, I naturally defended my position by stating something like, "Plenty of people have been able to work around having two work schedules." One of the higher managers responded with, "Again, it might create a problem with his employment here." Basically pointing out the obvious fact of they only care about the business and not the employee. There was a lot I wanted to say back to them, but chose to keep my job for another few months. Sometimes though, the silent majority need to speak.
  15. That reminds of me of, "I SAID OVER-EASY!"
  16. Last nights promo exchange was fairly decent. Trips was better than Taker, considerably better IMO. I groaned when HBK came out, as predictable as it was. I don't like where this may lead with HBK inserting himself into the equation six days before the PPV. Does HBK get involved at WM? I think if he does he is going to attack Hunter not Taker.
  17. He apparently did or he did? What was the slur? Is it really that big of a deal? And for that matter, what did Dana White say? I interpreted The Rock/Cena thing as Cena is the wrong color to be a rapper. If that was the intended message, does not bother me in the least. Words are only that: words.
  18. Dixie Carter: "A new superstar is about to debut. He is a former World Champion. His entrance into TNA will change TNA forever!"
  19. It depends on the severity of the injury, really. Torn ACL's have ended careers. Plus, as been mentioned already, it depends on the level of rehabilitation done on said injured extremity. Workers to add: Flair before/after WCW died. Carlito at various times. Jeff Hardy before his first WWE termination.
  20. I actually agree with you on this. IIRC, on the Rise and Fall of WCW DVD, the match between the Steiner Brothers and The Outsiders, Rick tries to do the mounted turnbuckle punching to Hall, who keeps trying to just walk away from it, but Rick kept pulling him back. It looked terrible. But yeah, it is a bad move.
  21. This is often cited as the greatest six-man of all-time. Personally, I need to view this against the six-mans from '90 and '92 to clarify. Nevertheless, an epic match for sure.
  22. SLL, is this your charity case of the year?
  23. I can dig that. I thought something similar when Goldberg lost to Nash at Starrcade '98. Actually, most of those types of thoughts were geared towards Goldberg. Like when he lost to Bret Hart a few times. While Bret was an awesome worker, those days had passed him by the time he was beating Goldberg. Nevertheless, I understand your point here. It'd be like Andre the Giant losing to someone like Tito Santana.
