  1. Are you being factious?
  2. Yeah, maybe for you though. I'm only 26. At any rate, it does fall into the realm of "matches I want to see before I die"...irregardless if there is footage of it or not. Same goes for those untaped sixty-minute draws Flair did in the 80s. I know they would be a good match. Hence why I want to see them before I die, man.
  3. Wow. I can never get used to these kinds of threads. Sadness for sure.
  4. If there's no footage of it, why would you say it be "the ladder match"? Were you there? That's like me saying "Tommy Rich/ Buzz Sawyer: Last Battle Of Atlanta" cage match should be on there as best cage match. Except that there are pictures of that match at least and it's considered legendary thanks to the Apter Mags. But since there's no footage, I can't honestly say it was great. RE thinks like a child, though. I'm not being a dick here, it is the truth Jason. I think like a Marine, RE thinks like a child, and other people probably think like things they've experienced, worked at, or have yet to mature...such is the case for RE. He says stuff that he should realize by now that it will only lead to any number of posters on this forum...or for that matter, any forum he ventures into to verbally assault him with any opportunity. Look at his post count here alone, over 1,100. The guy takes a beat down almost on a monthly basis on this board, inside jokes have been created to mock him, and conditions are stipulated in threads prohibiting a potential and very likely response by him. Yet he keeps coming back. If you or anyone for that matter makes a thread asking for help, advice, or a touching personal story of some tragic magnitude, RE would be one of the first motherfuckers in that thread offering answers, solutions, or condolences. Having said that, RE is annoying like an unsupervised child let loose amongst the more mature audience. It gets bothersome to navigate threads once a RE vs. crowd battle begins. Or the "No matter what you tell me, it will not change my mind whatsoever," mentality that causes most of us to have an urge to probably cause physical damage to his body. Similar to how children sometimes WILL NOT listen no matter what is said, threatened, or taken away. Anyway, the point is, RE said something somewhat logical in his post. I would love to see a Bret Hart vs. Dynamite Kid ladder match. I know it would be awesome. I mean, it is Bret Hart and the Dynamite Kid - not everything good in wrestling has to be from a rigid list that ten people have created. It would be like saying Michael Jordan vs. LeBron James mano-a-mano would not be an excellent basketball chess match. Or that all of those untaped Flair vs. Steamboat matches in '89 wouldn't be fucking awesome. However. Having not seen the ladder match between Dyno and Bret, I would not put it above my current ladder choice. It might not be as good. At any rate, my response here is directed towards you in presentation, but it is more of a defense for RE, which will hopefully extinguish some responses from the Anti-RE brigade that would likely be coming. One thread was already engulfed with pointless bickering back and forth. This thread does not need to be tainted too.

  6. Hashimoto is a legend, no doubt there, but it seems for as much as Joe respects him, he ultimately fails to bring Hashimotoism with him.
  7. Jerry: I would get Will's 1993 Yearbook set. The 1996 was released earlier, but 1993 might be a better introduction to some of the folks who are sort of in their prime around 1996 (i.e. AJPW's Four Corners and NJPW's Hash). It also has a pre-Monday Night Wars era US coverage, which probably is a good contrast to 1996 where the US is starting to change. Anyway, it's an easy way to get a variety of Japan, in a way that isn't hammering you over the head with just one wrestler or promotion. John Plus 1993 is widely recognized as the best year in puroresu. Not saying I agree wholeheartedly with that sentiment, but All Japan and AJW were fantastic in '93.

  9. Isn't Shawn/Razor eclipsed by the Hardys/E&C/Dudley Boyz in terms of significance though? Significance might be the wrong word here, though. What Shawn/Razor did, while awesome at the time, was expounded upon exponentially by the three tag teams. The beginning element was (IIRC) No Mercy 1999. I would be hard pressed in a choice between the originators or the death defying six.
  10. Must see cage match = Bret vs. Owen, SummerSlam '94. Tully vs. Magnum I Quit would be #2. Must see high flyers match = Rey vs. Eddy, Mask vs. Title, Halloween Havoc '97. Must see tag match = Misawa & Kobashi vs. Kawada & Taue, 6-9-95. Must see six-man match = 4-20-91, 5-22-92, or 7-2-93.
  11. Andre vs. Hogan is not intended for a workrate pleasurable viewing. Its context is for historical purposes only. Kind of like teaching Shakespeare to high school kids. Not many will enjoy it, same with college, but they understand the importance of it. History is important, man.
  12. ...and it's historic.
  13. I would think Hogan's first title win would be an important addition to any compilation if that comp was going to be with you on a desert island or similar situation. Very historical.

  15. Such an offer that can only be explained by professional wrestling. Maybe a Good Will Podcast burning question?

  18. What did you think of TJ? I've been there a few times, but not to watch wrestling
  19. Since when does a face challenge a heel to an I Quit match? Seems weird for some reason.
  20. I thought you only watched American and puro John. Didn't realize your forte included lucha.
  21. Actually, John, that is exactly why I think it wouldn't work. Harley is Harley, man. A man's man. Ric was not a man's man, man. Bob was a dorky looking guy, but holy shit, he had mongoloid strength. Plus, as you pretty much defined, Bob was only truly willing to work his particular style of a match. But Backlund realizes with Race, that if he pulls anything on Race, things would get ugly, and Bob is probably smart enough to also realize that Race would likely hurt Bob very badly if it turned ugly. What does Bob do? He let's Harley FUCKING Race get in on the action, man. But Ric Flair? That bleached head, dick nose, weird teeth, and an arrogant motherfucker to boot, his ass is getting broken off by Bob MOTHERFUCKING Backlund. That is my Holy Grail match, man. Don't be hating on it. By the way, what did I do to deserve that?
  22. Thanks for the compliment. I think if anything, having a cap size wouldn't necessarily be a thing to include. Why not have a list 1,000 matches strong? I mean, Will and other people are routinely unearthing new footage. Like that one French match from the latest PS compilation (Gilbert Cesca vs. Billy Catanzarro (France 1960s)). Unless that has been common place unbeknownst to me, it is some new and awesome match for our viewing pleasure. Nevertheless, I understand the drawback of not having some sort of cap size. We could easily fill it up with "normal" matches, which would defeat its purpose. So at any rate, if people are interested in such an endeavor, shall the discussions begin? My tentative plan would be something like a list per promotion, where discussion/voting/ideas could be hashed out, and once something has received X amount of approval, the approved matches are consolidated onto the "master" list. Or something to that effort. Some posts from the past: If I had to use a personal pick for its inclusion, I would. Easily one of my favorite matches ever. This is where the voting process would work best. I find it worthy, whereas you don't. Some may agree with you, which would be disagreeing with me. I'm okay with that. I hope the same would be kosher with you. Subjectivity is subjectivity, man
  23. Look at post #28
  24. Agreed on the above match. I watched it on one of the Phil Schneider compilations. The rewind spots are incredible. Hate though to see what a feminist would say about the match. But that might be interesting nonetheless. And still no comment on my huge list or idea? What's up with that?
