  1. Big thanks to James and Martin for joining me on this show. I had a great time guys. Join us as we take a slight detour from the usual WWF journey to look at Portland Wrestling from the late-70s! Parv graciously steps aside as Kelly takes the hosting seat for the first of a proposed series of periodic specials documenting wrestling even more obscure than Backlund-era WWF. For this episode Kelly is joined by Titans co-founder James and rising star Martin (Superstar Sleeze) to look at wild and crazy action from the Pacific Northwest. http://placetobenation.com/titans-of-wrest...land-wrestling/ On the docket tonight: 4/7/79 PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE, ED WISKOWSKI, ROWDY RODDY PIPER, KILLER TIM BROOKS vs ADRIAN ADONIS, RON STARR, GEORGE WELLS, HECTOR GUERRERO 8/31/79 PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE vs ADRIAN ADONIS 9/8/79 PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE vs ADRIAN ADONIS 5/12/79 ROWDY RODDY PIPER vs PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE 5/19/79 ROWDY RODDY PIPER vs PLAYBOY BUDDY ROSE LUMBERJACK MATCH 1/12/80 HARLEY RACE vs RICK MARTEL NWA TITLE MATCH 12/1/79 ROWDY RODDY PIPER, STAN "THE MAN" STASIAK vs THE SHEEPHERDERS / KILT BURNING ANGLE Also on tonight's show: -Martin's history as a wrestling fan, featuring his Stan Stasiak-hating father -A brief look at the history of Portland Wrestling -Don Owen: Great promoter; terrible announcer -Numerous jokes at the expense of elderly wrestling fans -Come visit Sandy Barr's Flea Market! -Opinions on Buddy Rose, Roddy Piper, Harley Race, Rick Martel, Dutch Savage, Ed (Col DeBeers) Wiskowski, Stan Stasiak, and others
  2. Who's next tonight, Pedro Morales? Bob!
  3. So, should we expect to hear "Real American" on Raw some time in the next few weeks?
  4. The band Hogan was in during the 70s was called Ruckus. I've seen a picture of them before, but couldn't find it online. Apparently he was also in a band called Koco: Also, this:
  5. I think a Super 8 through history thread is in order.

  8. 7/26/87 in Toronto doesn't exist according to Cawthon. Here is what he has for that date: See that one James? The closest Toronto cards to that date were: and No Savage or Steamboat. Pretty weak cards actually.
  9. Good thing I voted for myself.
  10. Ugh, I was wrong. Swede is in the Battle Royal on disc 6.
  11. I love the finished product on PTBN. Great job Brad! This was fun and I had a great time.

  14. Just checking results from Sports and Wrestling. He toured Japan for the rest of 79. Some interesting tag partnerships there. Six-man teams with Dusty and Volkoff (10/27/79), with Dusty and Patterson (10/28/79), and regular teams with Pedro Morales (!), Mr. Saito, Patterson, and Tiger Jeet Singh (!!). Was back in JCP by at least 1/2/80.
  15. Just checked a few things: No more Hammer until 1981 disc 5 No more Swede until 1982 disc 7 (special ref in the Backlund/Graham MSG Lumberjack match)
  16. Swede Hanson in 79 sucked, so let's remember the better times (pictured left). Fuck yeah, Gary Hart's clothes!
  17. This will not make much sense now, but consider it a sneak preview for Titans #5. Enjoy guys:

  19. Who is your avatar, Matt? Bobby Davis?
  20. That was a really good match. The September 78 match was on one of the dreaded untelevised cards, so it looks like the answer is no.
  21. I don't think you have to be too knowledgeable of the era to enjoy Titans. It's mostly Sorrow impersonations, pointing out funny-looking fans at ringside, and jokes about Bruno's rug.
  22. Superstar/Dusty at MSG is one of my favorite guilty pleasures in wrestling. I think if you just sit back and soak in the atmosphere, the heat, and the sheer 70sness of the spectacle you may enjoy it more. These are not workrate matches. Same goes for the Bruno matches. Edit: OK, the Bullrope match sucks, no doubt. The Death match was actually the earlier of the two matches in the series
