  1. I don't think my link worked anymore anyway.
  2. Backlund vs Swede Hanson MSG 10/22/79 is an abysmal piece of shit of a match for what it's worth.
  3. Monsoon's actual final match, vs Abdullah Tamba, WWC 9/17/83:
  4. I go to ECCW in Vancouver from time to time and am going to their show at the Commodore Saturday night, but I don't know anything about Wash or Oregon promotions.
  5. Yes, the Philly show on April 18th is listed as a matinee, so the Landover show was the second of two held that day. The subject of Rocky movies came up at work the other day and I busted out a spontaneous Thunderlips impression. My Tor Kamata was better.
  6. As lead historian, it is my duty to point out that the card Johnny attended at the Vet was in 1986 not 1987.
  7. Also, and I didn't know this until just looking, Hogan wrestled on a bunch of shows in Florida in June/July 1981, including having a match against Lawler in St. Petersburg July 18. His last match for WWF appears to be 4/18 in Philly, losing to Tony Atlas. His first match in the AWA was 8/1 in Millwaukee. His time as a heel in the AWA didn't last long, by the end of the month he was booked as a face. Here's the card for that MLG show I mentioned featuring the WWF vs AWA title match:
  8. This may be an oversight, but Backlund/Hogan 4/12/80 from Philly is a classic and needs to be added to the list. It's one of my favorite WWF matches from the 1979-80 footage we've been watching for Titans. Also, for a total surprise, the 8/23/80 Larry Z vs Ivan Putski Texas Death match from Philly is a genuine hidden gem. No joke.
  9. A trip down memory lane for Parv: The Pat O'Connor Memorial International Cup Tag Team Tournament I stand by my picks for Canada.
  10. Verne was one of the bigger stars of the 50s, as US champ for Kohler in Chicago, which is often forgotten as he is usually just considered Mr. AWA.
  11. Masters was a job guy in 1980 WWF who popped up about 6 or so episodes ago on Titans. Seems like he was a rising star for a bit, with a run in LA where he was pushed as well (dying territory, but still). Wrestled as late as 2010 in Jersey against Johnny's pal the Executioner.
  12. Would love to have you as a guest on Titans, Matt. Maybe you could kill two birds with one stone and we'll do a WoS show. But a 1hr episode might be challenging considering we can't even get one under 2.
  13. This may have been the worst card ever, but damn if this wasn't one of the best WTBBP's ever. Loved the commentary during the descent into pure Wrestlecrap as things just got worse and worse, capped off by Chad cutting a fired up promo on the Black Scorpion magic show. The struggle to name a Billy Graham winner because there were too many candidates was also hilarious.
  14. There is a bio of Yukon Eric in Johnson and Oliver's Heroes & Icons book, where he was ranked #25 all-time. He is also discussed in Mad Dogs, Midgets and Screwjobs (in the Kowalski bio section).
  15. Here's a visual aid for the old PNW belt mentioned several times on the show.
  16. Here is a playlist including all the matches and promos discussed on the show. Enjoy:
  17. http://placetobenation.com/titans-of-wrest...land-1980-1981/ Big thanks to Pete and Martin for joining me on this show. Join us as the Titans journey to the wilds of the Pacific Northwest for another look at Portland Wrestling, this time from 1980/81. Kelly assumes the hosting seat, and he is joined by Lead Anaylst Pete and young superstar Martin (Superstar Sleeze, aka "Marty Sleeze") for a fun and insightful exploration of what was once one of the most exciting territories in the NWA. On the docket tonight: 4-26-80 Buddy Rose vs Rick Martel 6-14-80 Battle Royal 8-2-80 Roddy Piper & Rick Martel vs Buddy Rose & Ed Wiskowski 8-9-80 Buddy Rose vs Rick Martel No DQ 8-16-80 Roddy Piper vs Igor Volkoff 5-1-81 Buddy Rose vs Jay Youngblood Also on tonight's show: -Rick Martel: Drawing the ladies to the Portland Sports Arena -"Dandy" Sandy Barr -Opinions on Frank Bonnema as an announcer -A celebration of the greatness of the Buddy Rose vs Rick Martel series - A show-ending discussion on 1980 Portland vs 1980 WWF
  18. Nope. No "Televised on the MSG Network - featured Vince McMahon on commentary" line before the result of the card on History of WWE, nor do I know of any of these matches being out there. The Hogan-Tito match you're thinking of is the rematch from 3/24/80. Untelevised cards weren't unusual back in the 70s and early 80s. Several MSG cards per year were untelevised for whatever reason. Too bad about this one, because the Bob-Ken match may have been good, and I believe this was also Tommy Rich's one and only appearance at MSG.
