  1. I haven't seen the match, but I would be remiss if I didn't offer praise for this awesome/beautiful sentence.
  2. I'm a fan of basketball, but how much papering and cheap tickets went into the NBA achieving that number? And talk about a record that is already totally forgotten only two years later.
  3. ??? And Taker is not going to "quietly retire". It will be a big deal, or at least it will be unless Vince totally drops the ball.
  4. Was this a Dusty finish or something? I've never heard of it before. Rich beat Harley Race for the title in 1981 in Augusta, GA, not the Omni. I watched it on YouTube, but only the closing minutes of the match exist IIRC.
  5. Whoops Rex King not dead
  6. It's misogynist. I'm no feminist bleeding-heart or anything, but let's be honest, you could count the number of times a woman has been portrayed as admirable in WWE history (ok, not counting Elizabeth) on one hand and still have fingers left over.
  7. Cena basically reverted back to his early gangsta days and tore into Eve for being a tramp, leaving her crying and leaving WWE looking more misogynist than ever, if you can imagine that.
  8. They finally made Cena a babyface in the eyes of the male fans in the audience. But yeah, that segment was "exhibit A" in the case for wrestling being viewed as trash by most people.
  9. I think Cena and Taker wrestled on a Raw circa 2006, but as a big time match/feud it has yet to be exploited.
  10. I think more thought has been put into the logic of the WWE's storyline power structure in these last few posts than anything coming from WWE creative regarding the matter.
  11. TNA pre-2007 looks like the golden age of Memphis wrestling compared to TNA post-2007.
  12. From the bits and pieces I watched of WWECW's first couple years, you would probably be best advised to skip ahead to 08. Unless of course you have a burning desire to see week after week of Big Daddy V vs Kane matches.
  13. Hypothetically speaking, Taker's final match taking place during a raging storm of some sort would be pretty cool.
  14. I was referring to watching wrestling by yourself. I'm not sure what you're thinking about.
  15. Fuck no, YouTube is a gift from Wrestling Heaven. And there is nothing pathetic about doing something you enjoy. Solo or otherwise.
  16. I'm thinking this could indeed be the endgame. And yes, it would be the most beautifully horrible trainwreck ever.
  17. I think the only way to save TNA, and this would never happen, is to hire someone who HASN'T been part of the wrestling inner circle forever and give them total booking control. No more Heyman, Russo, Cornette, Bischoff, Hogan, Pritchard, etc.-- basically nobody who has been recycled through promotion after promotion for the last 30 years. But I have no idea who this hypothetical individual would be. Maybe one of us.
  18. I'm now fairly certain that when we look back on John Cena's career in ten or twenty years this feud with Kane will be considered his most embarrassing low point.
  19. If any promoter was Beane it was Heyman.
  20. The only thing I've seen of Ring Ka King is an angle involving Chavo Jr. A friend of mine likes the show, and it seems to be the trendy "I liked it first" fed of the moment. Good production values, basically a slightly better-looking Impact. Jeff Jarrett is heavily involved as far as I know.
  21. Yeah, from the 80s Thing comic. I forgot about that. I think I read a few issues when I was young. I should try and track them down someday. I remember thinking the WCW comic was lame at the time, but it probably has some kitsch appeal these days.
  22. For those of you who are, like myself, fans of comic strips (or, like us all, interested in wrestling triviality), Dick Tracy started a pro wrestling themed storyline on Feb 5 http://www.gocomics.com/dicktracy/2012/02/05 with a character based on Jerry Lawler. Comics and wrestling have often produced rather unsatisfying results when mixed, which is strange considering the crossover appeal, but this looks promising.
  23. For the sake of accuracy, the "Nikita to WWF in the 80s" rumours are still on his Wiki page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikita_Koloff, although the part about him being de-pushed in 1988 as punishment for talking to Vince has been removed.
  24. I'm sure if the money hadn't been so good in places like JCP and Japan a bunch of guys would have worked for Vince in the 80s and had runs against Hogan, like Hansen, Brody, Koloff, the Road Warriors, Lex Luger, Flair, etc.
