    TLC 2018

I haven't looked forward to many non-NXT, non-Evolution WWE shows this year, nor have I watched many since Mania, but there are about five matches on this card that I'm interested in. The problem is there are another seven matches and this could be another slog, but it may not be too bad. Weird time for WWE with Raw being in the toilet but Smackdown having some buzz around Lynch and Bryan. It's been a pretty schizophrenic year for WWE in general with some major highs and major lows, and I really dont know what to expect anymore. That said, I'm going to drink some beers, watch this on the couch, and perhaps reflect on this crazy year for pro wrestling that felt like it hit a peak around All In, but the wave has crashed down in the last few months as we head into 2019
  5. We reviewed that show on World Cast last Xmas, it's a dud. And the Lothario match is definitely lower end
  6. Episode 54 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-54-the-mysterious-state-fair-coliseum-show-part-2 April 16, 1983 (WCCW 68) The boys resume their look at the ever-so mysterious State Fair Coliseum show, this time featuring... -The debut of THE MONGOL...who is not actually Mongolian in case you were wondering -A (we hate to say it) not very good Jose Lothario match -"In the Bush with the Ugandan Giant"!!! -David vs Gordy in a Handcuff Match -And a crowd full of drunk cowboys, some of whom decide it's a good idea to hit the ring Let's just back to the friggen Sportatorium ASAP
  7. Johnny Rodz vs Pat Patterson 6/28/1980, All-Star Wrestling This gem is on the Network and was brought to my attention by the great Richard Land yesterday. Really fun match with brawling outside and chairs being used. You would get these type of out of nowhere wild brawl matches on WWF TV a few times a year and they are a treasure. Story of the match is Rodz using multiple foreign objects, chairs and other dirty tactics on Pat until going too far with the exposed turnbuckle, which Pat reverses and Rodz ends up eating. Pat finally ends things moments later Not the best Rodz match ever but easy top 5 from what I've seen. Great stuff

    NXT talk

That Ciampa/Black/Gargano segment was some great shit
  9. The Bulldogs, and particularly Dynamite, are what hooked me as a fan in 1986. I've always loved Dynamite as a wrestler, so exciting to watch. RIP
  10. Episode 53 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-53-the-mysterious-state-fair-coliseum-show-part-1 April 9, 1983 (WCCW 67) For the next two weeks the boys explore a show on April 1, 1983 that was randomly taped from the State Fair Coliseum in Dallas. Why was it taped there? Why are all the matches so short? It's one of the great mysteries of modern times, but it does provide a bunch of highlights, such as... -The most total and complete humiliation of a jobber ever witnessed by man -The Iceman vs Michael Hayes in a less than satisfying encounter -The end of the road for the Great Kabuki -And a freakin' AWESOME main event between Ric Flair and Kevin for the NWA title
  11. Definitely unbelievably great timing on the WWE's part to have their TV deals come up for renewal during the peak of the frenzy over locking up content to huge money.
  12. Episode 52 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-52 April 2, 1983 (WCCW 66) This episode of WCCW has a little bit of everything, folks... -Midgets! -A near 50 year old man working a tired-as-hell Nazi gimmick -Botched interviews -The Penis Claw -Special Correspondent, Monica Hunter! -Blatant racism -And The Iceman, as always, being awesome Sit back and and enjoy the boys as they analyze this crazy-ass show!
  13. Loved the tag, and Race vs Flair is a really good match as well
  14. Perfect timing for the day on the couch in front of the TV I have planned for tomorrow
  15. Here are some links to the matches we discussed vs. Great Mephisto vs. Gino Hernandez W. Tiger Conway Jr. vs. Mr. Hito and Mr. Sakurada
  16. https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/jose-lothario-a-world-cast-tribute Pete, Kelly and Johnny get together for a look at the life and times of recently departed wrestling legend, Jose Lothario (December 12, 1934-November 6, 2018). The boys discuss Jose's career from the 50s to the 80s and then look at a sampling of some choice cuts, featuring battles against The Great Mephisto, Gino Hernandez, Hector Guerrero and others. Jose was an all-time great babyface performer and this show celebrates his legacy in professional wrestling. RIP
  17. That shit was great. Ronda leaving slowly all cut up and giving a death stare to the fickle smark crowd was the cherry on top
  18. Let's hope that wasn't match of the night, Kawada
  19. It's 2 of 3 falls, so presumably it will get significant time Card is solid as usual, and also as usual I'm sure it will be a great show.
  20. Original file wasn't mixed properly. So anyone who downloaded it already will need to re-download the fixed file. Sorry about that
  21. Episode 51 https://soundcloud.com/prowrestlingonly/world-cast-51 March 26, 1983 (WCCW 65) Epic show for the boys to discuss this week, one of the best yet, featuring... -Jose Lothario (full retrospective episode on his career next week, fans!) vs Gorgeous Jimmy in a really good match -Bill Mercer going all hard-hitting journalist at the headquarters of Devastation Inc. -A wild, and rarely discussed, showdown between Kevin/Kerry vs Hayes/Gordy Von Erich's vs Freebirds keeps getting hotter and hotter and this territory is officially on FIRE! World Cast: Don't accept inferior substitutes!
  22. Funny thing about Warrior and Kerry is that when Kerry debuted as the Texas Tornado I can remember a friend of mine telling me that he was really Warrior without makeup. I wasn't watching much wrestling at the time and didn't know he meant Kerry because he just called him "Texas Tornado". When I finally saw him wrestle a few months later I realized my friend had no idea what he was talking about, but he had probably already figured that out anyway
  23. I fell in love with Silver Age Marvel through Lee-Ditko Spidey reprints from Marvel Tales in the 80s and it is really still my favorite era all these years later. Every time I lost interest in what was going on in comics I would go back to Lee-Ditko and Lee-Kirby and continue to dig deeper. So much great stuff
  24. I really liked Hogan vs Sting as well. I think it's the last TNA match I ever saw. Kinda underrated as a great moment. I believe it was Hogan's last singles match and it attempted to capture a Hogan vs Rock vibe, while also in a way righted the wrong of Starrcade 97. Hogan getting one last huge pop from the Philly crowd was great
