[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestlemania VII] The Rockers vs Haku & Barbarian
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Liked this a lot more than I remembered. Great opener to show. Fun sequence when Barbarian clotheslined The Rockers after they did a double kip up. But he tries another double clothesline and they are ready with a double superkick. Haku/Barbarian had the appropriate power moves to hit on The Rockers. -
[1991-03-24-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Interview: Hulk Hogan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Okerlund brings up that Hulkamania will be on the line at WrestleMania. Silly with there being an actual retirement match with Savage/Warrior at same show. Apparently God is fired up about the Hulk Rules shirt being lit on fire. Hulk is overdoing it here with battle and war references. The salute at the end had me thinking Cena.- 7 replies

[1991-03-23-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler & Steve Keirn
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Lawler and Keirn out for interview. Lawler brings up again taking time off. He brings up how you don’t have to be good friends to be good tag partners. Kind of glosses over the previous history putting the blame on Cornette but in the end they have a common goal of going up agains the Texans. Keirn refers to himself as top 10 in the world after 15 years. Both men put over Fargo. Totally blanked on how close we are to Skinner. -
Dundee was jabbing away in the ring. JC Ice gives the glove to Austin who uses it to win the match. Well at least he’s not using a chain but they really over do it with loaded fist/weapon type finishes. Dundee never said he was one of the biggest, maybe the cutest but not the biggest.

[1991-03-23-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jerry Lawler
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Jerry and Dave talk about King’s Main Event show about to hit 400 episodes. Ed Sullivan, here we come. Fan got 400 shaved into his hair. -
[1991-03-16-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Jackie Fargo
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Fargo does a taped promo over the phone so some truth to him not showing his face. Steve Keirn will be coming to Memphis to team with Lawler against the Texans. Yep, right away I was thinking of the very recent feud between them. -
[1991-03-23-USWA-Memphis TV] Interview: Texas Boys / Tennessee vs Texas
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Embry thinks Fargo won’t show his face again after getting laid out by the Texans. I wanted to see more of what Yanemoto could do as when the ring fills up he's barely able to direct traffic. -
[1991-03-23-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Ultimate Warrior
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Warrior is ready to destroy Savage at WrestleMania. He’s ready to bury Macho at WrestleMania with the services of Undertaker and Paul Bearer. It is interesting to see the week before WrestleMania Warrior talking about the future feud with Undertaker. I don’t remember them interacting at all on show so i think they could have waited until after WrestleMania on the promos. -
The People Who Are Going to WrestleMania 29 Thread
Kevin Ridge replied to Bix's topic in Pro Wrestling
Only scheduled for Mania on Sunday right now. I was strongly debating about going to Hall of Fame but passed on it. I'll have to see what else is available to do on Saturday. -
Just watched the big 20 man tag Survivor Series 88 match today. Blanchard was the stand out in this match. Fantastic cheating/heeling all around. One point he gets tagged in and walks across the ring to tag in Volkoff as he wants nothing to do with the Powers of Pain. Later in match he tags out and practically lies down on his opponent so they can't make a tag themselves. As an illegal man he was doing great outside stuff pulling on Michaels leg after a tag and holding opponents in his own corner. It was a shame that Moosoon (expected) and Jesse (surprising) were missing some of this stuff on commentary. Tully accepting his role as chicken shit heel during match was great. Was another annoying moment when Tully totally played the faces/referee in to a cheap shot and Monsoon/Ventura gave the credit to Heenan for it which was annoying.

[1991-03-22-USWA Texas] Jeff Jarrett vs Tom Pritchard
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
So who is worse of a manager? Yanamoto or Fuji? Yanamato seems to contribute nothing to these matches. I do like that we get these full matches in USWA-TX. Looked like Jarrett was going to pull this one off with the chain. However, Embry ran full speed into the ring with his boot off and hit Jarrett. Good finish as I thought Jarrett would put chain in his own tights leading to a disqualification but the heels still do what they can to win.- 7 replies

[1991-03-21-NJPW-Starrcade in Tokyo] Ric Flair vs Tatsumi Fujinami
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Never seen this one. Fonzie as referee! I think Flair got that haircut just for the visual when he is in a side headlock. Flair blocks getting slammed off the top rope! I hate those type of pinfalls where the guy getting pinned makes no attempt to struggle during the pin to try kick out but then pops up right away after the three. Was okay at best but I’m in the camp where the chemistry between the two just didn’t seem to be there. I much prefer Flair versus Tenryu. -
Steiners do well in the Dome setting. Scott actually attempts a pin off a power move! Plenty of suplexes which the fans enjoy. Perfectly fine match between these two teams and what I would expect to see. Bravo to Scotty for actually attempting pins of big moves. It’s one of those things that really annoy me about him when he rather flexes to the crowd which is dumb as a face. It won’t be my MOTY but I enjoyed it.

[1991-03-21-NJPW-Starrcade in Tokyo] Sting vs Great Muta
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
No wasting time from Muto as he hits the handspring elbow and attempts a moonsault within the first minute. Except a couple dives to the outside both guys keep missing their signature moves in the ring. Like nobody is hitting a move from the top ropes. Muto finally connects with one and gets the win. Muto overdoing it on the moonsault attempts. Match was rushed. Sting just randomly attack Muto after.- 12 replies

[1991-03-21-NJPW-Starrcade in Tokyo] Jushin Liger vs Akira Nogami
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Nogami has himself some nice prematch gear with streamers that shoot out of his hands. Liger wearing green. Well it is close to St. Patrick’s Day. I’m closer to Pete on my feelings of this but do agree with Loss about the highspots early for the Dome show. Crowd seems more into it. Nogami did a good job attacking the ankle but also trying to get pinfalls through different type of roll ups.- 14 replies

I was at Royal Rumble 2003 and I'm not completely behind plants in the crowd starting that standing ovation but whatever. The crowd was totally hot for that match. Steiner/Triple H before did really suck big time though. Obviously with Benoit standing in the ring looking around at fans it will illicit a reaction from the crowd. Them keeping the camera on Benoit after match I can see but you need to actually have the fans care enough for him/match to get that big of a reaction after. I've mentioned it before but Shane McMahon was sitting a couple rows in front of me and was completely losing it during that match and enjoying the hell out of himself. If they had 15,000 plants in the crowd then you got me.

[1991-03-18-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Roddy Piper and Ted DiBiase
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
DiBiase takes a close look at Piper’s leg injury and lets him know he will be no help to Virgil at WrestleMania. Piper makes fun of DiBiase’s fake tuxedo. Piper and DiBiase have a good exchange with each other which had me feeling that it would have been nice to get a one on one feud between the two. I always thought that Piper was somewhat legit injured leading up to WrestleMania. -
Lots of suits out there for contract signing. Don’t recognize the woman. Gerald Brisco is there but no Patterson. Savage has plenty to say and is first to sign the contract. The pen flies out of Warrior’s hand as he is in the middle of signing his name. I don’t think that was a valid signature. Contract should be void! Undertaker shows up! I like them building to future feuds but felt this should have been just Warrior/Savage with the retirement stipulations.

[1991-03-17-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Wrestling Buddies commercial
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in March 1991
Never did get me a wrestling buddy. Would have enjoyed dropping elbows on a Hogan wrestling buddy. I didn't put as much thought into this as Loss but it is funny that was how they did this commercial.- 8 replies

Sullivan with the crazy eyes. Long doesn’t seem to belong here with this duo. But he’s hired himself people to go after Ron Simmons. Nice suspenders Sullivan.- 6 replies
