  1. Slaughter has guaranteed Savage a title shot if he wins and Savage will get the same commitment from Warrior. Sherri is going to bate Warrior and bate him now. Sherri with the subdued look with no crazy makeup. Sherri calls out the Warrior who is dressed up in USA colors. Sherri starting the bating on Warrior. Sherri sexual tones seem risky for early 90s WWF. Warrior isn’t having any of that and Savage flips out backstage. Don't get why Warrior isn't giving Savage the title shot though.
  2. Tanaka throws a sweet flying forearm smash. Rockers double team timing is excellent. Express really play to the crowd more than I remembered. Michaels took a big bump off the turnbuckle to the floor. Nice little finish playing off the Express double teaming. Have always enjoyed this match and this time around I thought it was excellent. Better than anything WWF did in 1990. Express could have done more in WWF though I expect there weren't the proper face teams for them to go up against outside the Rockers.
  3. Lawler sucks up the studio fans. Nice sweater Jerry. He thinks Cornette should go back to taking photos ringside. Lawler will be teaming with Dundee against the Fabulous Ones. Jarrett will also be in Jerry and Bill’s corner.
  4. Dave Brown insults Cornette’s outfit immediately. They replay the previous week’s beating of Lawler. Cornette thinks the hardest part of this whole thing was pretending to care about the fans. There is bounty out for Jarrett now as he is a contender to Funk’s title. Cornette advises they will be looking to win that bounty.
  5. Jumbo uses a bunch of arm moves early including a variation of Satanico’s running bulldog/armbar but not as smoothly. Hansen responds but whipping Jumbo’s back with forearms. Hansen springs off the ropes and drops a couple elbow drops that look good. Slow overall though. Wild lariat connects with Jumbo’s face but his foot is under the ropes. Little sloppy at times towards the end. Seems like both guys are tired. Post match and Jumbo gets another lariat to the face. Figured his nose would be broken by now. Average match which didn't help for TC challenge.
  6. Just thinking of Arthur Ashe stadium used for US Open and yeah it would make for a cool spot for wrestling. Probably lack of entrance/set up for stage would hurt it for WWE. It has a good capacity of 22K for tennis but being outdoors with no roof probably doesn't set well.
  7. El-P punishes himself with his wrestling viewing projects for our entertainment. I've been only skimming these to avoid spoilers as I've seen little of WCW from 99 towards the end. But good work from what I have read as I wish I was watching along.
  8. This was probably alright but real tough to follow the last yearbook match in my view. Embry looks all weird with the blond hair and no facial hair.
  9. These guys matching up in the tag matches in 1990 had some spirited fighting against each other so eager for this one. Starts off great with Taue attacking Kawada before the bell. Kawada ends up doing a 10 count smash on the railing which busts up Taue good. Really liked the little sequence when Taue kicks Kawada in the back in a okay now get up to your feet. So he reaches down to grab Kawada by the hair and of course Kawada kicks him in the head. Taue responds with kicking Kawada in the back. Short match as a whole but what a nice little brawl between the two. Favorite match so far.
  10. Interesting finish to the first fall where a simple punch to the stomach makes Santo easy pickings for Oro. Blood coming through white mask makes for a good visual. Second fall ends with a back body drop setting up the finish. Oro is quickly a mess from his own blood. Good and bloody and I liked Santo getting the win with the roll up finish.
  11. The women hate on Paul E who interrupts. I wanted to see York demonstrate on her computer on quick it will take Missy to beat Heyman. Paul gets real personal and makes some comments about how Missy keeps an job. Missy just walks away sobbing?
  12. They actually wore football pads and helmets for the football match. The NYC regular fans gets some camera time. They do everything to make Sting looked like he got screwed in his match but Flair wins the title at a Meadowlands house show. Flair era resumes.
  13. Lawler comes out for his interview. After taking a spike piledriver on the floor probably should have kept him off the rest of the show. Takes me back to the angle where Gilbert ran him over with a car and he came back on same show to cut promo. I think it just minimizes these attacks when he comes back so easily on same show.
  14. Cornette does a very brief promo and will let others talk instead. Starting to think I don’t like this Cornette and then the Fabulous Ones attack Lawler! Cornette explains his actions while Stan Lane wears Lawler’s crown. Would have liked to seen him do that in 94 when he was wearing the wig. Stan talks about threatening Eddie Gilbert which caused Eddie to leave the territory. Figuring he must have legit walked out. Cornette and the Fabulous Ones collect the bounty on Lawler.
  15. Cornette has his wrestling tights on. It’s not the full match but finish seemed rushed a bit and flat finish for title change. It seemed that the crowd was down compared to previous cards in 1990.
  16. With DiBiase’s money he can expect anything from his partner Virgil. Million Dollar slaps Virgil in the face and tells him to pick up the money. Piper really on Virgil’s side wanting him to fight back. DiBiase whispers something to Virgil which finally gets him to pick up the money. I can't remember what DiBiase was holding over Virgil.
  17. Talk about the special deadline for Saddam to leave Kuwaitt. They probably wished the date was the same as the Royal Rumble to play it up even more.
  18. Was kind of drifting off until they were using bamboo sticks to beat each other up. My interest would perk up when Bull and Aja were both in the ring but overall didn’t think much of this match. Inoue was indeed sloppy. Post match is the highlight when the hair being cut. Aja had a fierce look on her face while her head was being shaved.
  19. Well I didn't like it as much as you guys. Hokuto has her arm complete wrapped up with Toyota attacks to start. She takes forever to unwrap the arm with Hokuto not showing a whole lot of resistance to stop. Hokuto ends up outside the ring and gets her arm rewrapped. There is no ref count while this is going on. I guess there are time outs in wrestling. At least the finish did factor in the hurt arm.
  20. Vader changed his mask but takes it off before match anyways. There is a super Fujinami fan in white jacket who goes crazy for every move Fujinami does. Wrestlers like going after Vader’s eye. A doctor comes in to check the eye but Vader kicks him away. Poor doctor got launched. Worked to his advantage as he is able to win the match. I was buying the splash more as the finish then the clothesline. I don’t know if that is an established finish for Vader in Japan though. I'm going through 80's New Japan set at this time and Fujinami does seem to not be the same physically at this point.
  21. Warrior says Macho’s time is running out for ever becoming a champion again. They talk about Saddam Hussein’s gift of the boots to Slaughter. Saddam is the creator of evil. Warrior wants him out of Kuwaitt by January 15th. Laying it on heavy here. I agree on the comments about Warrior's title reign. He seems pretty much done as champion at this point.
  22. Scotty the Body hanging out ringside scouting the match. Bad time to go into a commercial break as Lawler was choking Funk with the barricade rope. Well he uses the microphone cord later to make sure us fans get to see it. Funk keeps trying to bring weapons into the ring but Lawler gets the better of it including breaking a board over Terry’s head. I can’t right off think of a time I seen an referee get irish whipped into the ropes, runs the ropes and then gets clotheslined. That gets Terry disqualified but he keeps the title.
  23. USWA-TX is back. Jarrett works the arm early which leads to a cool spot later when Eddie has the spinning toe hold on and Jeff breaks by yanking on Gilbert’s arm. The double KO spots all work well. I’m going to say the announcers botched the finish as on replay it was only a two count on the first attempt. Jarrett uses the chain and gets the real three count. Referee reverses the finish she he checks the Jarrett’s tights for the chain. That was dumb of Jarrett to put it down there in the first place. I was liking the match quite a bit but felt the finishing sequence wasn’t good.
  24. Yeah, it did seem pretty similar to the 1990 hotline commercials.
  25. Arm wrestling match set up between Missy and Paul E. Missy is sick and tired of Paul living at home with his parents. The parents are probably more annoyed by this. Paul wants Missy to dress as a lady and not as someone we know she is. That gets Paul a slap to the face.
