  1. Finishing sequence was some great stuff and I like seeing the crowd be so appreciative towards the wrestlers. I think the match holds up pretty well with all the cruiserweight matches that happened after in WCW. I'd have been blown away watching this match live back in 92. Also liked the post match handshake. Hell of a way to start off the show.
  2. This is my first ballot since the WWF set. I hate doing star ratings but it's what I ended up doing as I wasn't sure I was even going to do a ballot anyways. Problem is so many of my matches have similar ratings which is a lot of pain to then go back and rank. So I'll rematch (a good thing) bunch of stuff again and try to come up with a different scoring system I guess. Take better notes too. Thinking of maying doing a 1-10 scale or something like.
  3. This was excellent segment overall and did a great job of turning Undertaker face. Roberts slams casket lid shut on Taker's hand and lays out Bearer with a DDT. Undertaker gets up repeatedly after getting hit by a chair. Looks like he will stay down at times such as when the casket fell over but he just keeps coming after Jake and drags the casket from the stage all the way to the back after Jake. Too bad Roberts couldn't stick around a bit longer in WWF at this time.
  4. I agree that with those who preferred the Kawada match. With being JIP it seems like there was only a couple minutes of Jumbo working the knee before they started throwing bombs. It was entertaining though and the crowd was really lively and behind Kobashi. Jumbo has been one of my favorites of 1992 so far.
  5. Step below the other brawls but I did like the finish alot with Jarrett just nailing Black Dog repeatedly in the leg with a chair. He slaps on the figure four and Lawler hits Black Dog over and over in the leg at the same time with some plunder.
  6. Wish we had a better camera angle and replay of the kick. Looked like he hit him pretty good. Embry still manages to beat up Dirty White Girl before being run off by Tanaka. You can see Embry's eye already swelling up. Looked nasty in his post match promo.
  7. This was really well done and I got a good laugh out of it. Ron is excellent trying to get the fans to support him.
  8. Lozansky was just there if anything but was barely of notice outside of the funny team strut. He sure didn't hurt things though. Don't think he really needed to offer much anyways as Casas was excellent for his team. Loved how quick guys moved in this match with Silver King and El Texano looking great too. Been some pretty darn good lucha matches so far in 1992.
  9. This ended up being a surprise result to me as Furnas/Kroffat just dominate the match. I figured they would put Kikuchi away eventually. They smartly take out Kawada right at the beginning of the match. He never really gets it in gear after that. Kikuchi takes an impressive beating for most of the match. Kawada finally has enough in the end and gets the submission. Good match.
  10. Wasn't like Sid really attempted a swing at Beefcake's face. I looked it more of Sid just threatening Brutus but not really going to go through with it. Just not believable enough for me to change the title match around. They should have had Sid lay out Beefcake but maybe he wasn't able to take any physical stuff yet.
  11. Changing the scales by Gilbert was a cool tough. Nice little match. I got a kick out of Horowitz looking all confident at the end and then getting rolled up out of nowhere.
  12. Heck of a match. Yes, the first two falls are short but isn't not too much of a negative to me as something to expect with Lucha. The third fall has some great action though. Love the dives as they are hit with some fantastic accuracy.
  13. I've yet to really be able to get into Norton. Match wasn't as good for me as you guys. Norton's double suplex was pretty cool as I always like the spot. Good finish but felt like an AJPW match where you knew who was taking the loss. Brad took a good beating though.
  14. I can't believe those top rope dropkicks to the outside. Such a long bump to take on the floor. A move I can do without. Really good match though. A tad better than the Honaga match.
  15. It's strange to see Vader getting thrown around so much and not getting the desired reaction. It's impressive looking but you think it should mean more for a guy his size. Hoping for a bit more in this match but was alright.
  16. Yeah, I totally burned through stuff this past week and just finished up this afternoon. I didn't do disc rankings like people over on DVDVR or take sufficient enough notes sadly which is why I will need to rewatch stuff. But I'm pretty sure my number one will remain the same which is found on Disc 2.
  17. On the AWA set we get to hear Manny Fernandez call Fujinami a zipperhead. It really was a different era in wrestling and society. I'm not advocating hate speech but things have really got too PC over time. People say dumb stuff that you don't have to agree with it but it is their right.
  18. My number one match didn't change over the course of the set though it did get some serious competition. There isn't a whole lot of bad but I felt a lot of stuff was in the middle of the pack which makes it incredibly tough to rank them in my ballot. Some of the later discs are really good which kind of surprised me. Yeah, the crowds aren't as big/intense as earlier in set but there is some real good quality matches. Take a break now but will go back and rewatch a bunch of matches I felt I did not give a good enough viewing the first time around. The bonus material was alot of fun.
  19. Intense but a bit too short of a match. Loved evil Jake's promos at this time and Savage made for a great opponent. Too was expecting this post match angle with Undertaker getting involved.
  20. Mooney did his best Okerlund impression by talking to Sid and then taking the mic away and talking to Hogan instead. Sid just walking away was pretty funny. The turn was obvious but watching it this day and age you totally root for Sid as Hogan was incredibly obnoxious at this point. He doesn't have a whole lot of redeeming qualities as a face here and from what seen in 94, WCW seemed to book him the same. Match was decent enough with Sid walking out on Hogan. Didn't like Hogan taking out both Flair and Undertaker at end especially with Undertaker turning face shortly. It doesn't make sense that Hogan would give up the Title shot at WM to take on Sid instead.
  21. Looking forward to this set as outside of WWF and couple WCW matches, I've seen very little from other organizations for this year. It will be interesting to see what will be included for other American wrestling groups.
  22. Very little experience with Bock outside of currently watching this AWA set. Feel like I'm probably being too hard on him at first and I felt from what I've seen that I can be very up and down on him. Enjoyed him a lot with Heenan but wasn't too high on his single matches from Disc 2 and 3. But then he seems to get better as the set goes on and I started to enjoy the matches with Martel more and more. The Hennig matches have been very good and just watched the 60 minute draw again today and really liked it. It's not going to be my number one but is going to make a push to the top. I'll probably need to track down Bock stuff from the 70's after this.
  23. I haven't seen the Hansen/Andre match yet so not making any comments about that. However, I've always enjoyed watching Hogan/Andre from WM3. Probably seen it now close to 20 times. I know it's not a great match in itself, seems to be hated by wrestling fans and the piledriver spot is pretty weak. But I still dig the moment from Andre's entrance to the ring with no music to the bodyslam/leg drop finish that still gives me goosebumps. Surprised to hear from someone seeing it for only the first time.
  24. Love watching wrestling after coming home from the bar. I watched a lot of the 1994 yearbook in that condition as seen from my awful typos/thoughts in the threads. Yearbooks are pretty good when you are not paying attention to the match listings as you are just getting a whole hell of lot random stuff. You really don't watch to be watching serious technical match ups though. Good call on Savage promos. Got to think a Dungeon of Doom set would make for some quality late night viewing.
  25. I don't think they knew what they had going with the Rumble until a couple years. Felt at the early stages it was just a unique match they were throwing out. It wasn't until Rumble 92 that the match had real significance with the title on the line. From then on the winner got to face the WWF champion at WrestleMania. Obviously with two titles, this wasn't as big of a deal over time when guys stopped main eventing the big show. In retrospect, it would have been been right to have Dibiase win the 89 Rumble and Perfect the 90 Rumble but WWF was still in their send the fans home happy with the good guys winning. Studd winning sure does feel random over time since he didn't last long in WWF during that period.
