[1994-10-29-WCW-Saturday Night] Sting and Kevin Sullivan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Announced for the next Clash is Hogan, Sting and Evad vs Kevin Sullivan, Avalanche and the Butcher. Dave comes out to interrupt (this guys needs to be locked up in the back) Sting as he not only a Hulkamaniac but a Stinger too. Kevin Sullivan joins things and challenges Sting to inpromtu match. No referee. Stinger Splash and Scorpion Death Lock. Three Faces of Fear hit the ring and beat up Sting. Avalanche Drop on Dave Sullivan! Yes! He squishes him with a leg drop also. Thanks. The world seems a better place again.- 7 replies

[1994-10-29-WCW-Saturday Night] AAA When Worlds Collide Control Center
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Chris Cruise in the hype control center going over AAA Worlds Collide PPV. I am not sure who the intended audience for this hype segment was for. They run down the card but don't show actual video clips of Lucha. I feel if this was targeted towards casual fans they would need more info to purchase the PPV. -
Ricky runs down to the ring before being introduced with a chair. Not messing around here. He hits New Jack and Posse members in the head with the chair. Match never gets official start as Mustafa hits the ring followed by Robert Gibson. Too bad as had the feel of possible being a good match between the two. Wrestlers from the back come out to try break things up. I’m waiting for Lance Storm. New Jack is busted up. There’s Lance Storm! He prefers the hugging approach when there is a pull apart.

Tag match has been set with Dirty White Boy & Ron Wright vs Brusier Bedlam & Cornette at Thanksgiving Thunder. Ron is looking forward to this match. He is not going to eat any turket but feast on Cornette instead. Video of Abdullah the Butcher with Taz’ music. Clips of him in violent brawls. Cornette is bringing Abdullah in to battle Bob Armstrong. The Bullet seems to be caught off guard with having to face the Butcher as he wasn’t expecting him to be the opponent. Armstrong uses the thought of having Cornette kissing his feet as his inspiration to winning the match. Boo Bradley and Cactus Jack on confrontation with Jim Ross. Cactus seeks to know more about how Tammy and Chris treat Boo Bradley. He lives in a dog house currently and gets $6. I don’t know. I think that’s a lot of money back in 1994. Chris is his friend though and he can’t be friends with both. Cactus wants them to ditch Chris and Tammy and join up with him and go be tag partners. Tammy comes out, whispers something to Bradley and Boo immediately attacks Cactus with the chain. They brawl for a little bit using a steel bench also. Lance Storm has been relegated to just breaking up these brawls now. Cornette runs down Ron Wright. When he was at school they didn’t have history. If he acted his age, he would die. Jimmy is ready to send Wright back to the retirement home without his hip implant. Ross wants Cornette to rethink Abdullah since he can’t be controlled. Money and food gets the job done. They put over The Butcher as being someone that cannot be beat. At Thanksiving Thunder, Cornette will destroy two legends.

Landell does a promo talking about his $1,500 suits and nice car. Wonder why he was upset about that $30 he is still owed. Gilbert and Rich are still trying to get into the building. Security is hold them back. They should get a team of these security guys to cut down on all the run ins and cheating. Landell wants a match with Rich but Gilbert must stay outside the building. Marlin lifts Rich’s suspension but he must face Landell immediately. Tommy is trying to back out of this match. Quick match with Landell dominating. Buddy gets the figure four on and uses a belt to tie up their legs. Gilbert gets into the building with the help of Bowden and attacks Landell while is still doing the figure four. Oh, the security guards who were watching Gilbert earlier are just standing ringside. Good job boys. So much for my earlier praise.

[1994-10-29-USWA-TV] Eddie Marlin and Scott Bowden / Sid and children
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Lance Russell talks about tag brawl between Lawler/Christopher vs Rich/Gilbert being one of the best. They only show still photos so hard to tell. The tape is supposedly being reviewed at the time by rules committee. Eddie Marlin out and mentions all four guys have been suspensed from TV due to damage caused by brawl. Scott Bowden shows up to tell everyone about his cell phone. Security guard is keeping an eye on the back door to make sure none of these guys try to enter the building. Sid feels there is no number one contender to his belt. He grabs two kids out of the audience who are obvsiouly told what to say before hand. Um, I don’t really know what to say about this but one of these kids was a sharp dresser. I feel like I’m going to hell here. Rich and Gilbert try to get into the building but they have been denied entrance. We are ready for tag action but there is something going on in the parking lot. No audio for what is being said. They have weapons and are looking at cars. I presume to see if Lawler/Christopher are hiding out somewhere. -
Flair is not showing too much confidence in his face. His body language is all wrong. Heenan is not sounding too well to say the least. Tony feeds him an easy question and Heenan is all who cares before remembering he is a broadcast journalist. Mr T. is wearing a jacket which is unusual for a referee. Mr. T shoves Hogan when they get face to face. Flair attacks the knee to cheers from the crowd. But then seems to immediately forget about the knee. I actually find myself siding with Hogan on his issues with Mr. T. Anything goes in the match Mr. T. Just count the pinfalls and check for submissions. Flair tries to climb out of the cage but Hogan catches him upside down hanging outside. Hogan slams him head first repeatedly into the cage. From the camera angle of this, Flair looks to have his face in Hogan's crotch area. Fitting visual for this feud. Flair finally goes back to the knee and gets the figure four on. Hogan survivies. Mr T. ends up getting in the way of a Hogan charge. Flair attacks Mr T. on the mat. Sherri tries to climb the cage but gets sexually assaulted by Jimmy Hart. Sting wants a go too but The Masked Man takes him out. I'm guessing the Masked Man is either Bob Orton or Billy Martin. Sherri handcuffs Mr T. to the ropes. Not the smartest thing when this referee would be determining your career. Hogan hulks up and this turns into a handicap match with Hulk beating up both Flair and Sherri. Hogan is just really beating up Sherri here. She was trying to leave the cage and gets pressed slammed by Hogan. Leg drop and it's over as Mr. T makes the pinfall count. The Masked Man had just disappeared as quickly as he got involved. Flair seems to be an after thought once match is over. Didn't get a camera zoom in of him leaving the ring or anything. He's your biggest star and his career had just ended. It was entertaining to watch but I think the Bash match ends up being the best as Flair wasn't totally crushed yet by that point. The Masked Man shows up again (different looking guy under mask though) and just stands behind Hogan for the longest time while has to get his posing in. Hogan avoids the attack and unmaskes Beefcake. Kevin Sullivan and Avalanche help Beefcake and squash Hogan. Sting saves Hogan for further beating.

[1994-10-23-WCW-Halloween Havoc] Arn Anderson vs Dustin Rhodes
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
You can tell that Tony and Bobby already hate each other. Anderson argues with the referee that he is getting his hair pulled. Still enough on the back of the head to be plausible. Anderson blocks the raised foot when he jumps off the middle rope. He side steps and then drops an elbow anyways. Like that little spot. Dustin misses big on a clothesline attempt and barely avoids the rings steps when going to the outside. Could have screwed up his shoulder big there. Rhodes grabs Arn around the midsection with the body vice. Anderson cleverly spins towards the ropes and catapults Dustin throat first against the bottom rope. Nice way to get out of that move. Anderson almost gets the win with the help of the ropes but referee catches it before counting the three. He goes to argue with the referee but gets rolled up by Dustin for the victory. Arn was totally outsmarting him until the end. Parker, Meng and Arn beat up Dustin after the match.- 9 replies

[1994-10-23-WCW-Main Event] Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Bischoff is working the red carpet for all the big celebrities coming to the show. They show the previous video features for both Flair and Hogan. Hulk does his promo behind the cage with Jimmy Hart and Bruti. Total Hulkamania promo about Flair needing to bury him 1000 miles underground to make Hogan give up. He shreads some lettuce on the cage.- 4 replies

[1994-10-23-WCW-Main Event] Interview: Hulk Hogan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Gene interviews the Hulkster. Hogan makes threats towards Mr. T if he doesn’t call it right down the middle. Do you really want to be calling out the referee like that when your career is on the line? Brutti will be watching Hogan’s back so nobody will be getting into the cage.- 6 replies

They don’t have the video history for Hogan to match the Flair feature. Okerlund interviews Hogan’s parents. They like that he bought them a condo and a Cadillac. They worry about Hogan in the match with Flair. Hogan shows off pictures of him with his famous friends. Gene says it would be a travesty if Ric Flair takes away the enjoyment of Hulk Hogan from everybody. Should have been you Gene in that Barbed Wire Electrified Dynamite Pool Hell Match.

Last few minutes of Bedlam versus Dirty White Boy. It hasn’t been the same for White Boy since Roberts left. Cornette gets involved but Ron Wright is more clever and nails Bedlam with a weapon. Bedlam gets whipped by DWB five times per match stipulations. Now it’s Cornette’s turn to get whipped. However Bedlam stops it from happening and him and Cornette beat down on DWB and Ron Wright. Cornette puts a whipping on Ron Wright. Short DWG promo but Wright who has to sit down on the table to brace himself cuts a fired promo. He isn’t even looking at the main camera but that just adds to it. He wants Cornette bad.

[1994-10-22-USWA-TV] PG-13 vs The Phantoms / The Undertaker vs Sid
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
House show footage of the Phantoms vs. PG-13. Fantasia and Miss Texas involved on the outside. A third Phantom comes out and they beat PG-13 for the tag titles. Now highlights of Sid vs. Undertaker. Not the Brian Lee version. Dave Brown says this would be a PPV match. I remember it being a pretty boring WrestleMania main event. Rest in Peace chant from the crowd. Sid controlling most of the action shown. Undertaker hits the tombstone but the Spellbinder comes down to break up the pinfall attempt. -
Sid out for interview not wearing any shirt. Who does this besides wrestlers? I don’t catch Sid making any mistakes. They seem to be plugging a Sid/Mabel match. That sounds swell. Rich calls Buddy a has been and that he saw him searching through the dumpster at the Salvation Army looking for clothing. Hoping we get a Rich/Landell match. Dave Brown actually lets Scott Bowden talk. Dave Brown mentions Moondog Retch, he means Rex. Buddy is all dressed up in his suit. He agrees with some of the things Rich said. About being half a man? Buddy is only 33 years old! He seems to get a bit off after mentioning his own age. Landell admits to screwing things up. Rich out to confront Landell. Buddy thinks Tommy needs a shot of scope. Brawling starts up and we have a match between Moondog Retch and Gilbert. Nothing match that ends in DQ.

[1994-10-22-AJW-Tag League The Best] Manami Toyota vs Takako Inoue
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Inoue uses a knee when she gets Toyota up for the tombstone. Seems like an obvious spot to do that but don’t see it often. We get another tombstone on the floor outside. Toyota gets slammed off the top rope and lands on her neck. Standard stuff from what I have been seeing of Toyota. Alright match in the end.- 7 replies

[1994-10-22-AJPW-October Giant Series] Steve Williams vs Toshiaki Kawada
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Really good match but behind the Carnival match from earlier in the year. AJPW is all about the long title matches at this point. This one is too long though as they should have tried to be different than the last two title matches and go with a shorter time. The moment is cool though to see Kawada finally win the big one which goes over well with the crowd. The finish sequence was great with Kawada just hitting Williams with all types of kicks. Doc still looks great having to be beat down that much in the end to lose the title.- 11 replies

Ohtani is taking a beating from the very beginning. He finally gets momentum and hits a big dive to the outside on Guerrero. Benoit in but he takes a cheap blow from Guerrero. It is not the smoothest exchange between Ohtani and Sasuke but they are going pretty fast. Lots of guys coming in and interrupting pinfall attempts which is making everyone testy. Dragon suplex but Sasuke kicks out. Sasuke fakes one dive but connects on the other. Dragon suplex on Guerrero and he kicks out. Always thought that was on of those moves you do not kick out of. Sasuke tries a dive to outside and Benoit just steps aside. Benoit gets Guerrero up on his shoulders but Ohtani cannot cleanly hurricarana him in the air. High dregree of difficulty on that and would have made for great finish. This time a Dragon suplex works though as Ohtani gets the victory. Excellent match as they were going all out for pretty much the whole thing.

[1994-10-15-WCW-Saturday Night] Ric Flair career retrospective
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Video package of highlights of Flair with promos mixed in. Video of him punking Lex Luger. Refers to him as cheating but about 70% of the clips after are not of him cheating. He battles! He works the leg! Figure Four always finishes his opponent. Effective way of using old promos to show his career. They weren't using anything from the current year.- 8 replies

Ricky gets hit in the head with a blackjack and misses the TV taping. Morton has words for the Gangstas as they should look out for the Express as they will get them. New Jack denies involvement as was at home asleep. The police came by and interviewed him as always. He blames Ricky for just being drunk at some night club and banging his head on a table. Message on screen after the Gangstas have been fined more than any wrestlers in SMW history. Seems like it has been ages since we have seen Cornette. His union has been busted. Vince would be happy. Cornette wants another shot at Armstrong for the commissioner spot. He has found a man to finally beat Armstrong. Bob wants something in return to agree to this match. If he wins, Cornette will have to crawl across the ring and kiss his feet. Cactus is here to help out Boo Bradley. He know's what it is like to be mistreated and how good it was to stand up to Kevin Sullivan.

Rich tries to use the football helmet but Lawler points this out to the referee. Later referee ends up getting knocked down. Hales runs out to take on Bowden who is trying to use helmet on Lawler. If you seen the Alex Semin hockey fight from a year or two ago, you will be reminded of it when watching Randy Hales ground and pound.

[1994-10-15-WWF-Superstars] Bob Backlund and Arnold Skaaland
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Vince McMahon mentions how Skaaland had a great deal in building the WWF. They talk about Skaaland throwing the towel in against Iron Sheik. Skaaland threw the towel in to save Backlund’s career. Backlund runs full steam out to the ring with towel in hand. He flips out on Skaaland. Arnold apologizes and wants to shake hands. Mr. Backlund snaps and puts the Chicken Wing on Skaaland. Sparky Plug is out the break things up. He sure is asking for it yelling at Mr. Backlund like that. Good stuff. -
[1994-10-14-CMLL] Emilio Charles Jr vs Miguel Perez Jr (Hair vs Hair)
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
I was unfairly comparing this match to the June hair versus hair match the whole time. This is not anywhere near the level of that match. First two falls is pedestrian stuff in my eyes. Perez wins the first fall but gets stupidly disqualified in the second fall. Felt like match needed more aggression with hair on the line. Third fall they finally get going and it’s back and forth action. Charles reverses a suplex attempt with a small package and gets the win. They don’t even show Perez getting his head shaved. It gets clipped ahead to him with no hair. They shake hands after the match too. Was there a lot of heat in this feud to set up a hair match? I’m just not seeing it for this stipulation.- 5 replies

[1994-10-14-UWFi-The King's Road: Osaka] Nobuhiko Takada vs Naoki Sano
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
I’m cheering for Sano though he probably has no chance. I wonder if UWFI could benefit from having a play by play guy. Very mat based match between the two. They do exhange kicks every so often. Each guy going for the submission over and over. I thought it was just okay as had trouble keeping my full focus. I thought it would be better with Sano involved. For this UWFI stuff, it really needs Vader/Albright involved for me to fully enjoy.- 6 replies

Clown music playing in background. Bourne believes you need to stay close to your enemies such as Scorpio. He’s not Doink though there is lots of immitators. Actually like him more as the evil Doink character than this. Him doing full evil Doink could have worked in ECW.
