Mr. T is doing a workout with a heavy bag which consists of him just softly pushing it and not actually punching it. He is wearing jewelry on his fingers so probably not that easy to do actual boxing. He snaps at the cameraman for video taping him doing his work out. I'd be embarrassed too.

Takako does some M-Pro taunting including a middle finger. Toyota ends up in a bunch of submissions. Lots of bendy stuff. Kyoko takes a bad landing off a double team move. She gets pinned shortly after. I’m shocked that it’s over that early but it seems this is two out of three falls. Second fall and they work on Kyoko’s back. Yamada hits five consecutive backdrops. Well it wasn’t five piledrivers. They like doing things five times in Joshi. Booker T would have got this stuff over on commentary. Kyoko’s survives all that and ends up winning the second fall to even things up. Yamada and Takako are more involved in the third fall. Toyota hits top rope dropick to the outside. That hurt me. That seems to be her undoing as they get her back in the ring and put her away. Not a smart move to attempt even though she connected. Good match but didn’t blow me away or anything. The pinfalls for the first two falls seemed to happen too easy. They did pick things up in the third fall.

I see our segments are being combined into one post for the month of October. Gangstas want to show the world where they come from. Some of the participants in the video and really playing up being on camera. Pretending to beat each other with clubs. Check out that cell phone. Gangstas drive their corvette over the grass. They show off their tag team titles. New Jack says SMW didn’t want a black man to be their tag team champion. Bob Armstrong with Rock & Roll Express. So this reversed decision was then reversed again. Gangstas got themselves a big attorney to fight this decision and end up getting the tag titles awarded to them. If they were going to give the Gangstas the title they should have just kept the original finish of them cheating to win the title. Bryant gets in a sentence before running laps as Ole does all the talking. They are coming to SMW for Tracey Smothers. Bryant has a special hold also for him. Brief interview by New Jack before Robert Gibson shows. Several wrestlers come out to break things up. This had little intensity and the pull apart by everyone was weak. Lance Storm was probably the least convincing.

[1994-10-08-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Doug Gilbert (Mask vs Crown)
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Before the match Rich whips Hales with his belt. Lawler runs down for the save which leads to the match starting. Gilbert dominates a short match but misses a charge and gets rolled up by Lalwer. That was way too easy. Gilbert unmasks and shows off his just growing back hair. But him and Rich attack Lawler and whip him also with belt. PG-13 shows up to help Lawler. -
Clips from tag between Gilbert/Sid vs. Lawler/Christopher stretcher match. Rich comes down and takes out Lawler. Sid drops Christopher with two powerbombs and he can’t make the ten count. Back in the studio, Gilbert takes credit for getting rid of Christopher. He will not be losing his mask against Lawler’s crown. New USWA champion Tommy Rich looking and feeling good. Rich has nothing to say about Buddy Landell. But apparently Buddy is half the man from what the ladies have told Tommy. Dave Brown interviews Scott Bowden but he only has so much patience. Bowden refers to Randy Hales as illegitimate son of Eddy Marlin and Dave cuts him off. Randy Hales charges out after Bowden. Fists of fury by Hales. Randy is not the most coordinated person. Sid interviewed and he knows who the mystery partner is which will be Lawler. I’m thinking how Sid is actually coherent in this promo. Wait, he should have been saying mystery opponent instead! Fooled me. He even fooled Lance Russell there. Lawler calls them both out for this gaff. The mystery opponent turns out to be Lord Humongous who gets face to face with Vicious. Sid backs off takes off all scared. Solid acting.

The new WWF Generation. Put your faith in them. Savage plays baseball with some kid. They really are having fun with the baseball strike. No unions here. Our season never ends! Bob Backlund is the guest on Heartbreak Hotel. Sorry it’s Mr. Backlund. He doesn’t like being referred to as former champion. Mr. Backlund never lost the title as he was not pinned or made to submit. Shawn is somewhat dismissive towards Backlund. Good promo by Backlund as he wants the title back one way or the other and just storms off when he is finished talking. Leaving me wanting more.

I hope there is an Earthquake Splash with the jumping up and down stuff. Tenta is not really a striker as does mostly submissions that aren’t really threatening his opponent to give. More like rest holds. Vader hits a release German suplex on Kazou. Albright returns the favor with a belly to belly. Tenta with his own suplex. Tenta seems to not fit the style completely as he takes kicks and makes no attempt to block them. I think he is still in wrestling selling mode. Albright starts throwing Vader around which is an impressive feat. Nice suplexes. I like big guys throwing each other around. And gets him to tap too! Gary was the man here.

Takayama is all trimmed down. Still a weird looking dude. Flurry of kicks to start the match between the two. Kanehara though shorter seems to have been reach with his kicks. Takayama counters with wild hand strikes. His best chance seems to be him hitting a knee strike. They go to the mat and Takayama is overmatched but uses his reach to make the ropes whenver he is in danger. Time limit ends up running out but I can’t tell if it’s a draw or not as the referee raises both of their hands but the points remaining were different. Don't know if that is a deciding factor.

Ended up just watching this twice to see if my opinion would change. Just couldn't get into it enough for whatever reason. We get the regular good stuff with the main four in there against each other. Jun is game when he gets in there but I've never really got behind Ogawa. Did Meltzer give his one 4.5 stars? The dates don't match the info I'm looking at but it's the same participants. I'm just not seeing that rating if it is the same match.

[1994-10-04-ECW-TV] The Sandman vs Tommy Dreamer
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Sandman gets his own cigarette to his eye. Tommy then grabs the cane from Woman and hits him across the face. Sandman quits due to this injury. They are playing this up as very serious as damage control comes out to attend to Sandman. He is quickly taken from ringside. Where is Ray Rougeau to interview Sandman at this point? Woman is hysterical. Sandman needs to be taken to hospital. Cameraman gets booted from backstage. Shout out to Gabe. He gets the info that Sandman has suffered serious injuries to his eyes. -
[1994-10-03-WAR] Genichiro Tenryu vs Ashura Hara
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Really stiff action between the two as Tenryu just lays in the chops and Hara counters with the clotheslines. They go back and forth and then some dude runs down to interfere. He ends up taking a beating by both Tenryu and Hara before getting run off. Murdoch is there to help police things. Match continues. Tenryu starts unleashing his own clotheslines. Very little deviation outside the chops/clotheslines. Tenryu finishes Hara with two powerbombs. Pretty simple match but was good. Two guys just beating each other up. Big celebration for Hara after. This seems to be coming to the end of his career. -
[1994-10-02-WCW-Main Event] Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Dave Sullivan & Mr T
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Hogan gives some magic slippers to Dave Sullivan for help in his match against Flair. He mentions in the pre match promo that these were the same boots he wore when he slammed 700 lb Andre the Giant. Good bless his soul! That body slam killed him. Dave Sullivan is a mindless Hulkamaniac. Flair does a promo talking about teaching Dave Sullivan a lesson. Evad out for another interruption. This is getting ridiculous. He believes he could have beat Flair. Flair does a five count with is back turned and Hogan's music blaring. Here's Hogan! He wants to team with Dave Sullivan against Flair. Ric's career is now being put on the line in this tag match. An amateur photog catches Flair and Mr T. together on the street. They blow off some punk kid looking for a autograph.- 7 replies

[1994-10-01-SMW-TV] Interview: Ole & Bryant Anderson
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Bryant running up and down a hill. Ole introduces his son Bryant Anderson. They put over his amateur background and wrestling background. They call out Tracey Smothers. Bryant isn't the most charismatic on the mic but promo is okay. Ole kind of cuts him off. The Andersons are on the way. -
Sorrow and Tragedy? Miss Texas shows up to run off Fantasia. We are jumping around on clips here as Gilbert beats Kronus with the help of a chain. He trades the chain off to Sid who uses it against the Eliminators. Lawler in to take on Sid. Christopher to go after Gilbert. Bowden gets his face mask lit on fire with a fireball.

[1994-10-01-USWA-TV] Interview: Doug Gilbert / Interview: Tommy Rich
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Gilbert still with mask out for interview. Setting up things for a stretcher match which Bowden is holding in his arms. Show clips of Sid Viscious vs. Lawler from arena show. Sid destroys him with the powerbomb and gets a relatively clean win. Good choice by Gilbert. Dave Brown always seems to cut Bowden off when he tries to cut a promo. Rich out for his interview. He's back for the ladies and to help Doug Gilbert. Rich runs down Landell as his partner so I presume Buddy has already disappeared from USWA? Rich goes over his credentials. The wildfire is back. Brown blows off Bowden again at the end. Ha! -
[1994-10-01-WWF-Superstars] King Kong Bundy vignette
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in October 1994
Cartoonish type stuff with Bundy looking like King Kong from the movies. He swats down a plane flying by. -
[1994-09-30-ECW-Hamburg, PA] Cactus Jack vs Sabu
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1994
Better than their Arena debut match. 9-1-1 too involved though by helping Sabu. He even holds the table for Sabu with Jack lying on it. Impressive moonsault still. It is hard to cheer against Cactus at this point in both WCW and ECW. The bottle shots by Sabu are brutal. That stuff needs to be gimmicked. Awful sounding.- 6 replies

They take a boat out to get to the ring! A boat! That already is pretty awesome. I hope all of these guys can swim. Serious looking weapons being used. Brutal looking stuff happening. This was just a spectacle to watch. If it had Somalian pirates and a great white shark involved it could have been my match of the year.

[1994-09-24-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Ric Flair & Sensuous Sherri
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1994
Sherri looks like she did a whole lot of coke before this interview. Dave Sullivan has the nerve to interrupt Flair when he is doing an interview. Somebody please hit this guy in the head with a chair. Kevin comes out to try make sense to Dave. Dave Sullivan comes out again to interrupt Flair! I hope he gets his leg broken.- 7 replies

[1994-09-24-WCW-Saturday Night] Halloween Havoc Press Conference
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1994
Ali and Mr. T involved. What is this WrestleMania 1? Mr T. will be the referee. Flair cuts one of his better promos since earlier in the year. Hogan is low key in his promo. He's been all over the place on his promos whether he is in Hulkamania mode or being passive. Too bad Liberace wasn't around to play Also sprach Zarathustra on piano.- 6 replies

[1994-09-24-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler vs Doug Gilbert
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1994
I didn't get the FSU reference until you mentioned it. I was trying to figure it out the whole match. Good match as USWA has been providing a bit more actual wrestling of late. We still get our plenty of outside interference though. -
[1994-09-24-USWA-TV] Brian Christopher vs Doug Gilbert
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1994
What's Corey up to these days? Late night DJ on a soft rock radio station? Memphis is using the sturdy Japanese tables that don't break. Ha, this match had so many chains and there is ether involved also. I thought they would use a fire ball to just singe off Gilberts hair. Fun stuff to watch.
