  1. This set wrestling back 30 years.
  2. Robert gets enough lines out at first but Morton gets to the point so much better. Dutch is miffed at accusations that he is purposely trying to stir things up. We seem to be missing a post. But the Steiners are coming to SMW to paralyze someone. Way to aim high guys.
  3. Vince asks us if we believe in the Tooth Fairy. If he disputed Santa Claus too there would have been a lot of upset kids in Memphis. Vince's face after the Death, Taxes, Savage line was great. Lawler is promising fire against Savage. Awesome little music video of Lawler using fireballs on everyone.
  4. Savage talks about previous history with Lawler. Too much history between the two. Macho will not repeat himself as we should have got it the first time around. Savage doesn't think too highly of Tatanka.
  5. I think Fowler was gone by Survivor Series as he was replaced by Monsoon on Face to Face. Bret hates Lawler's stinking guts and doesn't know Jerry beat to proclaim himself King. Well he did get the victory at Summerslam over Bret!
  6. Yeah, I do wonder what the story about this suspension was. Michaels on one of his DVDs talked about steroids but dodged it and was saying he was just fat at the time which was explanation of being so big. Story from Tunney is Michaels has not made contractual title defenses. The first of Michaels losing a title outside the ring. Battle Royal set to determine the next IC Champion. MVP and Snuka as participants! Didn't know Snuka was around at that point.
  7. I like the body slam off the apron by Kawada. I also think he reasonably protects Kikuchi in the move since he does actually release him for the slam until Kawada's feet land on the floor. So it almost a regular body slam on the floor if there is such a thing. But it looks cool in real time. Kobashi versus Kawada was definitely the highlight. Kawada seemed even more in a bad mood and looking to beat people up.
  8. You guys are doing the shows more frequently so I like that you not necessarily just taking a disc at a time as there can be so much to cover. I love the three hour shows personally as it never feels like you guys are running out of material to talk about it. Not sure you can do a two hour show with the four people as I think it would feel rushed. There will continue to be new guys coming in so you need bios from Kelly. Can't take time away from Pete's match analysis or Johnny's viewpoints/impressions. Parv is always going to throw things out there to discuss among the group. Also, you guys tend to bring up topics where the end result is "we need to discuss this more in detail another time". You guys are in such a groove that hard to strip down/cut back right now. But not worrying about doing a disc at a time is smart idea.
  9. I know we discussed the access to old footage that is available but the bold part disturbs me. I didn't know they would remove content as well. Well that sucks. It does seem too similar to WWE 24/7 when stuff would disappear each month. So I'm guessing we will get the same thing when an expiration date pops up for a certain show/match where you would need to watch it by that particular date. Don't like that as takes away the flexibility of being able to watch things how you want. I don't want to have to race through things in order to watch it before it disappears though I expect stuff will stick around longer in VOD compared to 24/7.
  10. Finally we get a match on Tenryu's home turf in WAR. Did feel a bit like AJPW though less polished in the ring. Tenryu's double underhook submission is the big thing going.
  11. At the beach is about the only place wearing wrestling tights in public is okay. Sullivan is nuts and Woman looks amazing.
  12. Public Enemy will not lie down for the moonsault from the Headhunters. They are the first generation of children who are more scared of living than dying. Alright.
  13. A bit too chaotic to the point as hadn't read match listing beforehand so I thought Delphin was actually officially in this match! Not enough Onita for me if you are going to be doing a brawl. Michinoku moving away from these type of brawls was for the better.
  14. Start em young as vegetables sitting in front of a TV.
  15. Fujiwara straight wrestling matches seem to have those really quick finishes out of nowhere. The pin didn't feel right as happened too easy and Fujiwara was right up on his feet after looking to continue to fight with Chono.
  16. With the run Hase as on I found this to be slightly disappointing. From their previous matches I was just expecting more. Felt short in time though they try to show Hase had good fight with having to be put away with a big elevated DDT.
  17. You guys tweaking the format/content a bit for the shows now? You only covered Shea Stadium for this show and seem to be doing a Spectrum only show for the next one. Does this just come down to just too much to discuss as I see you still go your three wonderful hours on both shows while only covering one youtube disc in total. Impressive. I found the matches to be average to disappointing this time around. Past previous discs had some great matches. As far as outdoor stadiums, Football stadiums are so much better than Baseball. At least they do a better job with having fans on the field for football. With football you are probably out of season when a wrestling card is being held so you don't have to worry as much about the playing surface. When they are holding this show they are right in the middle of baseball season so they probably couldn't have any fans on the field. So fans end up being too far from stadium. As others mentioned the commentary on these matches dragged it down. But just the overall audio sucked. We just couldn't hear the crowd good enough to see how hot they were. Being in an outdoor stadium not going to help either. I wonder if having a Dome/Roof on a big stadium helps. The crowd sound pretty good at WrestleMania III and X7 as they are both in Domes. But Summerslam 92 is a great example of an excellent crowd coming off in an outdoor venue. In the NFL you have the Seattle Seahawks and Kansas City Chiefs who set ridiculous levels on crowd noise for outdoor stadiums. Can be the fans but what extent is engineering of the stadium play effect? Being at the new Metlife Stadium in NJ for WrestleMania I can totally agree with Parv that crowd came off dead on TV but also being there live it didn't sound to hot. It's a dull looking stadium and lacks character. I like the visual of the big stadium with huge crowd but I agree with you all about preferring the big Arenas like Garden. The noise level by fans is so much better. So when I think about Bruno/Larry at Shea it was great they got that big crowd of people to go but watching it 30 plus years later I wish they blew that feud off at MSG as crowd would have been going nuts. Being able to watch the promos and matches now for Bruno/Larry will have to agree that it is one of the best feuds ever. Skaaland must have been playing cards by home plate with his back to the cage match. Can't believe he tried to raise Bruno's messed up arm at the end. Great stuff from Kelly on the history of stadium shows. Think Parv is bit harsh on Patera when pointing to match with Atlas. Such a rushed match on a card with many other matches. I think matches with Patterson and Backlund have been excellent for the year.
  18. I like the crowd reaction as they are freaking out about the miscommunication between Armstrong and Gibson.
  19. Sherri telling Tammy to go put on her little bras. Too bad they couldn't arrange for Ron Wright to throw out the ceremony first pitch from his wheel chair at a Yankees game. Dutch is still worried about if he could get impeached too.
  20. At least what we got from yearbook, I think the impeachment thing came along too quick for Cornette. Yeah, you don't want to overdue it and the whole commissioner/general manager has been beaten into the ground but I wanted to see more of Cornette in SMW. Cornette and Dutch's reactions to the letter were pretty fantastic though.
  21. With the tease of big name wrestlers possibly being opponents it was a let down for a generic guy in a ninja suit. Second one ends up getting in ring and Bob Armstrong must now leave SMW.
  22. Jerry talks up the success of the 3-0 Cleveland Browns. They would end up jobbing out and finish the season 7-9. With a couple seasons later head off to Baltimore to become the Ravens. Big heel turn there by owner Art Modell. The coach of the Browns at this time was Bill Belichick who would be come to top manager at the New England Patriots.
  23. Dave Brown wants to know why wrestlers complain about conspiracies when it comes to having a one on one match. What's up with the cage? The main camera used is right up again the cage but when you look the other sides of the ring you see a fence that is below the third rope. But it is not escape rules so I guess it does not matter. But then they do not even use the cage as a weapon. I thought the finish was funny because if referee raised the wrong person's hand then it proved he wasn't looking when he counted the three in the first place!
  24. There was a Vince McMahon promo that didn't arrive in time for TV. Lawler has his title back and sent Tatanka packing. Jerry makes a challenge to Vince. Savage will be making a return back to Memphis.
  25. Bonnie Blackstone doing the interview. Joe Fowler and Rob Bartlett. Some random announcers during the year. No rematch for Lex Luger. There's no competition left for Yokozuna. Lights go out and Undertaker appears right behind Cornette. Jim does a huge sell of this. Big face to face with Yoko and Undertaker. Yoko wasn't showing fear in Undertaker yet. t thought the stuff with them at Survivor Series was more random but they were hyping this up early.
