  1. Fujiwara does the best AJPW type delayed selling after winning a match and then doing the collapsing back down to mat from exhaustion thing. Here's he got the biggest shit grin on his face and then just promptly lies down face first on the match and doesn't move.
  2. It's the website, only organized all in one place (this is not a negative!) and it is easy to follow. Small print, yes, but the layout is solid. Oh man, that's so awesome. If that's cheapish in any way, shape or form, it's the next thing I'm buying. Picked this up too. Well worth it as nice to be able to quickly able to check on something.
  3. I fast forwarded the first 8 minutes plus of show. Apparently there was a segment that I will not name to start the show that had listeners tuning out and switching over to an Al Pacino podcast. So it seemed like I wasn't missing anything worth while. Satisfied guys? Grand Wizard going through some hard financial times. I know it was more of a topic in earlier shows but from what was shown from 79, I think the clear order of ranking is Lou/Blassie/Wizard. Lou is just throwing money around as he drops $100K for Patterson. His immediate poor handling of Patterson was funny. Johnny trying to bring up Dr. Zaharion after it was just mentioned minutes early was hilarious. Great bio by Johnny for Tony Atlas. Great stuff in there. There should be an audio compilation of all these bios. These Inoki/Backlunds matches haven't been good. Post match crazy Bob testing things out for his 94 turn. I still feel like I need to watch more Inoki from 70's before I write him off. I actually liked Backlund/Duncum. Totally ignored the "Texas Death match" stipulation when it was clear they were doing a different type of match and it made it better. Race/Rhodes and Hulk/DiBiase were decent to good. That was a loaded MSG card. Good picks for the awards and nice to see Denucci bring home a prize. The exit audio clip to close show had me almost in tears. Nice editing there.
  4. It manages to feel fresh with it being the beginning after watching stuff from 1997. The crowd seems to be very excited with the breakup of Kawada/Misawa as a team and them now being rivals. Loved the part where Taue knocks Misawa off the apron which leads to a big tag when Misawa finally gets back in. Him and Kawada deliver some stiff shots at each other and the first free chance Misawa get he goes over and decks Taue who just drops off the apron. Misawa was pissed off. It really is an excellent start to the tag feud.
  5. Another good listen. Seemed like everyone was mostly happy with how the voting went. Ended up having 11 of the top 20 picks in my ballot. Decided to go through the results to see which matches I rated higher (or at least tied with) than everyone else. Match Listing (Overall Finish/My Finish) Ken Patera, Jesse Ventura & Bobby Heenan vs. Hulk Hogan & High Flyers (3/13/83) (17th/1st) East-West Connection vs. High Flyers (3/1/81) (50th/5th) Paul Diamond vs. Pat Tanaka (11/18/89) (87th/31st) Sgt. Slaughter vs. Boris Zuhkov (9/28/85) (88th/19th) Greg Gagne vs. Super Destroyer Mark II (5/1/80) (89th/22nd) Bobby Duncum & Billy Robinson vs. Jim Brunzell & Tonga Kid (4/21/85) (100th/23rd) Badd Company vs. Midnight Rockers (2/19/88) (102nd/15th) Mando Guerrero vs. Pat Tanaka (6/12/88) (105th/17th) Lord Alfred Hayes vs. Bobby Heenan (1/13/80) (110th/7th) Heenan, High Flyers and Pat Tanaka appear to be difference makers for me.

  7. Clever of Kid to not jump at the money right away but to work Razor more.
  8. The cynical me who just watched 97 yearbook would think this is a ploy to undermine Flair in WCW. McMahon needed to just call up CNN offices and allow Flair's non compete to expire immediately so they can just get him in the ring. The women doing exercises on step board the whole time had to be on drugs.
  9. How fun would it be for the Express to do a Rap gimmick. Morton ain't too into the idea for Tammy and they walk out on her suggestion.
  10. Yeah, Cornette should be freaked out at this as Bob is in pissed off revenge mode.
  11. Lawler looks to be wearing hospital scrubs. He throws a fireball at his wallet. Jennifer was non stop giggling here. Probably smoked some weed beforehand.
  12. Had issues watching Blu Rays on my PS3 so had to go out and buy a new Blu Ray player. They are pretty inexpensive now a days so no problems but glad to be able to get back into watching this set. Still only on disc one. I'm actually liking JR's commentary on some of the matches. The best he has sounded in ages. Recent message he posted about a possible Volume 2:
  13. I was wondering when Gordy's OD happened in 93. Match itself was pretty good and feels like the best I've seen of Gordy in a match in a while. Well, I'm being harsh there but all the Gordy/Williams tag matches I've watch lately have been a drag. AJPW booking can be ultra conservative but when the younger guy finally goes over it really does feel special.
  14. Announcers were excited about Don Muraco being on next week's show!
  15. Razor skipped out on the greasy hair look. No slacking on Bret's part. Hart pokes some fun at Razor and the crowd continues the 1-2-3 chant. Razor/Bret had to be the premiere first round match for King of the Ring.
  16. All these Perfect matches from 93 seem to have a intro segment based around his towel. One of the better WWF matches so far. Doink was great here. Loved him just throwing wild kicks and punches from all types of angles. Pretty decent stuff on the mat between the two also. Looking back the Doink character had big possibilities but it was going to be tough to not avoid being lumped in with all the other silly gimmicks WWF was putting out there.
  17. Watching Tenyru and Hashimoto battling it in the crowd kind of took away from the finish in the ring. Things were more interesting on the outside to the point I didn't want them to take the camera focus of Tenryu/Hash.
  18. I can't help but notice how poor the production set up for the show is. Just doesn't feel like a PPV with the bland ring apron and dark lighting of the crowd. I did like Bulldog's big power moves on a guy like Vader. Not much of a crowd in this. DQ finish was fine building to another match.
  19. Cool dive by Steamboat on to both Austin and Pillman. So what's the actually story to this? Douglas had left but they put masks on Steamboat and Zenk just to pretend Douglas was still in WCW? I think people wouldn't even be bothered if they just replaced Zenk as normal without the masks.
  20. Well Thesz was the right first pick for the Hall of Fame. Mr. Wrestling II got the biggest reaction. Agreed that McMahon did this way better later on with putting on a proper ceremony.
  21. Wow! That landing by Scorpio was crazy with him bouncing up. Bagwell's dancing was pretty bad. I don't mind the team with Benoit but it feels like a make shift pairing for Eaton.
  22. Great pick! I just wish you went all the way with Hervey as Most Obnoxious. Excellent stuff as usual Pete. Looking forward to you in 1993.
  23. Vader does a public challenge where he beats up some jobbers in proper Vader fashion. Since it’s a public challenge, Davey Boy gladly gets in the ring. Nice show of strength by Bulldog on the catch and powerslam.
  24. That would have been so awesome. Flair looks ridiculous. Arn too as he has his dress pants on underneath his robe. Flair plugs the return of the Four Horsemen at Slamboree. Rude is real impressed with Fifi. Rude calls Flair a legend of the past. Nature Boy continuing to take shots on his own show.
