  1. Flair says this time around going after the title is bigger than the first time. Ric made Windham sound like he was 60 years old with the talk of Flair growing up and watching Barry wrestle as a kid.
  2. I didn't like it as much. Work was fine but a bit bland with IRS hogging so much time in the ring. Needed more DiBiase. They were overdoing the referee being distracted by Money Inc. as Steiners had pinfall. Hebner way too easily changes the decision of match to a disqualification. He must have realized how awful of a referee was. The quality of the tag team division hurting with the lack of depth. Scott hit a good looking Frankensteiner on DiBiase.
  3. I've noticed in these tag matches where the WAR guys lose, Tenryu is nowhere to be seen at the end. Agreed that Chono looked good. NJPW had a lot of guys to send out there against Tenryu in these matches. Cool finish with Hara avoiding a Yakuza kick but getting nailed from behind with a flying knee by Fujinami who came out of nowhere. Chono then locks on the STF for the win.
  4. Call To Action campaign has begun. Luger wants the fans to harass Tunney into giving Lex a title shot against against Yokozuna. Moonsoon, “I understand from a reliable source though the gorilla line inside that hideous office of the president that a decision will be made next week on that particular issue.” Gorilla undermining Tunney already to set himself up as the next president of the WWF? Lex Express! Gorilla is so over the top biased during this segment.
  5. http://www.forbes.com/sites/dorothypomeran...-actor-of-2013/ Rock was number one box office draw for 2013. He was in a bunch of movies that came out but still pretty impressive.
  6. Jerry Lawler versus Owen Hart, Wrestling Challenge, 7/7/93 Didn't make yearbook and not that it should have in a pretty loaded 93 year. Still good to see when watching the Lawler versus Harts feud during the year though. Lawler had taken the USWA title back from Owen in Memphis around the same time this match was taped in WWF. There's been chicken heels before like Honky and 80's/early 90's was full of heels walking out for cheap count out and getting disqualified. Lawler takes it to another level though for WWF as he has no shame crawling on his knees and then hiding behind the referee. Complaining about closed fists from Owen seconds after he threw one himself. Stalling early on and of course getting an object out of his tights to use against Owen. The WWF could overdue the pipping in of the crowd but Lawler is getting heat during this match with his antics. Owen loses patience as match goes on and gets more aggressive. But he ends up running himself into the ring post. Lawler hits the piledriver to knock out Owen but still pulls the tights on the three count. I get a kick out of stuff like that in wrestling. Ross mentions on commentary it was the only offensive move Lawler hit. He got a few punches in also but he was masterful in totally outwitting the better athlete in Owen. Match was less than seven minutes but was fun.
  7. Luger is the big talk by the announcers. Crowd was into Crush which makes me wonder if they turned him too early. Maybe they had to offset the Luger turn or something. Great way to make Yokozuna look strong going towards Summerslam. A couple Banzai's for Crush before Savage finally makes the save. I really like these angles for WWF in 93.
  8. I'm glad it ended up on the short side. Eddie got more offense before the match beating up the Hawk doll. Hawk launched Eddie at one point with an impressive chokeslam/throw. Gilbert was taking shots at some people ringside including a photographer. Not much concern for referee's health after the fireball. Just weakens the effect of it when you do that. Was thinking how Hawk could have gone to WCW and just reading now that he does show up in August.
  9. I can understand Cactus not recognizing his wife since it's not Collette. We get more outstanding acting in these segments as a tearful Collette runs off after being shunned by Cactus.
  10. Sid is so much better than the Harris brothers. I know the finish is the racket shot by Cornette but the Harris brother added a weak stomp on Gibson before pinning him. Drop a knee or leg drop or something.
  11. Smothers insults of Tammy seemed to go over Lee's head. Not until Tammy slaps Smothers does Lee do anything. Lee is a much better almost immediately after turning heel though.
  12. Disco is the 11 time Brooklyn champion. Must have been trading that title back and forth with Taz.
  13. Paul Neighbors is a bit biased against Lawler during the match. Vampire Warrior is the next monster after Lawler! My favorite part of this was Vampire Warrior putting his feet up on the ropes to get extra leverage on biting Lawler.
  14. Lawler wearing the title again. Bret and Owen are sending guys to USWA to go after Lawler. Jerry brings up some of the previous monsters including Leatherface he has fought off. Jennifer looked terrified on the jet ski and then goes flying off it into the water. Check out the distance and speed on that spill! Jarrett acts like it's no big deal.
  15. There looked to be a wicked ring post shot Ramirez took. He might have braced himself enough but it looked good. Felino was really cranking in that half crap for the submission win. Nice camera work on the dives as they were almost coming through the screen.
  16. Nice song Johnny. Great, great bio for Blassie. Show was the usual loads for fun to listen to. The Quantum Leap segment was absolutely hilarious. Opening tag match was very good. Andre was still looking good at this point. I wonder exactly when the physical issues effected him in matches. Have seen Hogan/Backlund a few times now and really like it too. Match has early parts I don't like as much with Backlund winning the shoulder tackle spots. Hogan should be knocking Bob down there. Minor issues though. Hogan goes half a hour and it's good! Thought Bruno/Larry was just as good as previous matches but I'd pick the MSG match as the best of the group. Finish was funny with Bruno throwing the chair at Larry's head. They put the Samoans over strong in their Title win. As clean as a finish you will see for heels winning though Tito did look a bit weak. Skimming other Putski results I see he lost to Valentine by figure four submission. I thought Backlund/Inoki was good. I didn't like their matches in Japan much but this is a lot better and Pete does a great job of saying why. They cut out a lot of the boring crap from those matches. I think with match being in the US, Backlund probably had more of the calling of the match and was not going to let Inoki drag it down to the mat with lifeless rest holds. Much more pace to this one. Won't rate it as high as Pete but not seeing why he got so much hate from everyone else. Bruno should have done Keystone Beer commercials when they were doing the Never Bitter Beer slogan. The sign off to show was amazing.

  18. Yeah, cute spot but I did like that eventually Akiyama hits a big cross body off the top tope to the outside on Kawada. A good Jumbo like performance from Kawada giving a lot to a lower level guy. I liked Jun getting those close pinfall attempts with the rolls up.
  19. Poor Jay Sully got dragged out of the club to interview Gilbert instead. He likes to wear his sunglasses at night.
  20. Their mission must have something to do with taking the subway.
  21. Backlund wasn't even trying on his body slam attempt. Tatanka busts out chops in a body slam challenge! What a poor sport. Yokozuna squashes him with a leg drop. Bill Fralic's attempt had Yoko actually having to defend himself. So did people there think the person arriving by helicopter was Hogan? It's not a huge response to Luger with him being a heel until this. The crowd must have been helped along to start chanting "Lex". Luger gets the body slam. Well they tried with Luger's being All American now and being the first to body slam Yoko. Something Hogan couldn't do.
  22. Roma is the newest member of Horsemen and they immediately hide him in match. Was for the best though. Flair versus Windham was great. Both guys looked good. They had solid portions of match time against each other too. Looked like was going to an excellent singles match for them. Pretty darn good 3 on 2 match as they come.
  23. Dustin is dressed perfect for a trip down a seedy alley. More goofiness as Dustin plays along in the angle and gets in a couple good lines. He ends up losing his hat though! I hope there is payoff for that.
  24. Hilary must have been a big heel magnet is Smokey Mountain area in 93. Tammy has found herself a wrestler to manage. Lee does a heel promo with clips shown in between of what built up to the turn. Still really like that clothesline Lee gave Smothers who was sitting in a chair. Decent promo by Lee.
  25. Would have loved to seen more of this match. Owen looked good. Lawler loses his cool at the end goes overboard with the piledrivers. Laughing that it's not even a real neck brace but a towel that Hart is wearing.
