[1991-09-21-TWA-Autumn Armageddon] Terry Funk vs Kevin Sullivan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Ha, one of those this won’t end in a clean finish so lets see what happens. Some great brawling and beating the crap out of each other from Funk and Sullivan.- 6 replies

Monsoon would have a conniption with Mr. Hughes wrestling gear. Check out Harley’s jacket. Nice stripes. Good effort from Mr. Hughes and one of his better matches. Hughes with the figure four was a nice spot. He was just after trying to cripple Windham at this point.

[1991-09-21-WCW-Saturday Night] Lex Luger and Tom Zenk
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
The newest referee in WCW is Z-Man. They ripping off Ronnie Garvin? Cappetta is doing the interview but gives Luger a proper entrance. Luger appears to be the master of the piledriver at this point. Z-Man has been assigned to referee a tag match involving Luger and Hughes. Yeah, that’s going to be biased.- 6 replies

Dutch still working the Stan Hansen hotline. He’s got a good lead from the latest phone call and fan mail. Dutch gets bleeped out in his promo! Billy has a great entrance theme. Dave Brown wants to pass on a song this week. Damn you Brown I want to hear Travis sing! Billy sings us a wonderful song. Brown thinks he’s some type of musical expert. Dave can’t imagine how he upset Travis so much. Travis plays some guitar in the ring before hitting his opponent in the head. Glad to have you back Billy. Dave Brown channels Okerlund to stir things up by calling out Embry as possible suspect for writing letter to Dutch. Oh that studio audience trying to provoke a fight with Dutch and Embry. Tojo is wearing his Masters green jacket again. Oh no, Eddie Marlin is also a Masters champion as sporting a similar green jacket. Embry pounds him for what I presume was stealing Tojo’s jacket backstage.

[1991-09-21-WWF-Superstars] Tito Santana vignette
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Did we need to give Santana a gimmick? He wants to return to his native land and become El Matador! -
[1991-09-21-WWF-Superstars] Funeral Parlor: Ric Flair & Bobby Heenan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Ric Flair in front of the WWF arena audience. Flair is focusing on Piper for spitting on his belt. Piper not buying this threat. Flair moves on to Hogan on how he didn’t have the guts to face Ric over the past 10 years. Watching Bearer’s facials is fun. -
Rounds system is back much to my chagrin. Finlay was his usual physical self but the round system continues to rear it’s ugly head for me which prohibits my enjoyment in these matches. I preferred the Benoit match as it had better editing to this.

[1991-09-15-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Interview: Randy Savage
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Savage wearing a Superstar Graham shirt. This is incredible were a low key but emotional Savage is still trying to deal with what happened with the wedding after reception and what was suppose to be the greatest moment of Liz and his lives. He's so frustrated that he can't do anything about it. Maybe Sid can take care of Roberts but you can tell it's reinstatement that Savage wants to take care of things himself. -
Yep, the Austin/Blossom hug after Austin hitting his finisher was frustrating to watch. I hate that type of stuff in title matches. Austin gets done in by his stupidity by getting pinned by Sting. We get a recap of the gift boxes and the people who pop out of them. I wonder if Sting has some type of trauma of Christmas time when he receives presents wrapped up.

[1991-09-14-WCW-Saturday Night] Danger Zone: Lex Luger and Harley Race
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Is Mr. Hughes the most awesome bodyguard in wrestling history? Diesel? Meng? Big Bubba? Interview is cut short as Simmons runs down. Luger smacks Simmons around with chair. Good segment as they have been pushing Luger as heel more and more.- 6 replies

[1991-09-14-WCW-Saturday Night] Control Center
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Tag division was loaded in 90 but at this point it is way too much to have two tag team titles. Patriots with the US Tag Team titles. Yes, weak looking finish to match. Dangerously is taking his role as a broadcast journalist very serious. Sting doesn't want any more gifts. He just wants whoever it is to step up and challenge him. Cactus has found his way as a promo guy since his appearance in WCW in 90.- 6 replies

I was just wondering about what has happened to Billy Travis and he shows up with a guitar shot for Dirty White Boy. Nice to see you back Billy and as a heel. Laughing as when Lawler refers to Hickerson as big fat Hickerson we get a crowd shot of some cheering overweight fans. USWA has a fancy new desk for the announcers. Don't be talking about people's families as a brawl starts. More Billy Travis guitar shots. This all leads to another big studio brawl with Dundee whipping Samantha. Dundee is getting punches thrown at him but but still managers to try whip Samantha again. He's determined. Dutch is maning the Stan Hansen hotline. That is hilarious.

[1991-09-14-USWA-Memphis TV] Jeff Jarrett & Robert Fuller vs PYTs
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Never heard of the PYTs. They didn't make much of a good first impression on me. Ronnie Gossett gets beat up post mach. -
[1991-09-14-WWF-Superstars] Interview: Hulk Hogan
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
I am curious to watch the Hogan PPV. To see how it was editing and did they include full matches and stuff. Hogan heavily plugs the success of the Hulk hotline. Give him credit for thanking the fans. Oh, Hogan talks about the questions he gets about him matching up with Flair. In hindsight, this already feels like WWF dropped the ball big time by teasing this stuff but not falling through with a big PPV match. Hogan accepts Flair challenge to step in the ring. -
[1991-09-12-W*ING] Mr Pogo & TNT vs Iceman & Akitoshi Saito (Cage)
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Saito looking so slim and agile out there. Good performance by him. I figured this would be mindless garbage but it does grow on me as I watch it. I confused TNT for one of the Headhunters at first. Good violent brawl. We get another example of sturdy Japanese tables as it doesn't break but merely one of the legs gave out.- 6 replies

Copyright infringement! Too bad they couldn’t get Corey Feldman on commentary. I was hoping for some tag team moves from the Ninja Turtles movies to make an appearance. No four turtle shell shock like they did to Tatsu? That would totally translate into this match. I think Pete nails it for me in the problem with the rudos just not coming across as much.

[1991-09-10-NJPW-Battle Autumn] Hiroshi Hase vs Tatsumi Fujinami
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Hase appears to be trying to replicate one of Sasaki’s hairstyles. Fujinami in the 90’s hasn’t been the greatest to watch for me. Actively cheering for Hase here as he seemed to be doing most of the work in match.- 7 replies

[1991-WWF-Supertape] Irwin R. Schyster's Top 10 Tax Tips
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
It's not even tax season. I think I have the same calculator as IRS. My company needs to update their equipment. Vince must have been getting wind of people recording/bootlegging their official tapes. -
[1991-09-09-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Ric Flair debut
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
I like Bobby’s sweater. Not the right setting for Flair’s debut. He gets the red carpet treatment but he’s wearing his robe/wrestling boots and doing a promo in front of the fake studio audience. There is someone in the audience that looks like former Indiana coach Bob Knight. I can only imagine what it was like to see Flair in WWF back in 91. Flair will shake things up at the top on the heel side. -
Felt like some type of mix tag match where certain guys were only able to wrestle each other. Davis and Pritchard do the bulk of the wrestling which is probably for the better. This was just a weird set up with the studio and announcing.

[1991-09-08-WCW-Main Event] Dick Slater & Dick Murdoch vs The Enforcers
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Some crafty guys in the ring, each knowing how to bend the rules. Heel versus heel which I don't think is the ideal match for the Enforcers at this point. Enforcers actually come off as the faces. Arn tries to use some knucks but Murdoch ends up getting them leading to DQ. Would have preferred Enforcers pulling out the win via pinfall with use of the knucks.- 8 replies

[1991-09-08-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Show opening
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Ric Flair making his official arrival on Prime Time Wrestling. Monsoon takes more shots at the World Heavyweight belt. -
[1991-09-07-WWF-King of the Ring] Ricky Steamboat vs Ted DiBiase
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
There had to be something they could have done with Steamboat. Can’t really think of any heels who were available though during this time. Boring chants are vocal throughout. Too bad this wasn't as good as you would hope with the talent involved. Actual results are interesting in that they had IRS, a heel, wrestling four times on the show while his finals opponent Bret only had to wrestle three times. -
[1991-09-07-WCW-Saturday Night] Interview: Sting
Kevin Ridge replied to Loss's topic in September 1991
Another gift box for Sting. It’s some random blond with a message for Sting. Cactus is watching and waiting for Sting. Sting then locks lips with the blond and spanks her. He says he isn't too hard to find and doesn't seem too worried about Cactus.- 7 replies
