I want to make my stance clear once. If there are people who will vote, want to vote, or are thinking about voting and are considering wrestlers that haven't been nominated please nominate them. Don't let a couple of match reviews set you back. Don't even let the fear of people overreacting to your nominee stop you. I don't give a fuck if Kofi Kingston, Buck Zumhofe, Torrie Wilson, or Logan Alvey are nominated. I don't want to read back handed posts about people claiming they would have voted if so and so had been nominated or any other excuse.
  2. Okay, I've cracked because I've always wanted to know the answer to this, but who here actually got Smackdown when it aired from 2001 to 2008? Chattanooga didn't have a UPN or CW affiliate for years and we ended up getting it late Saturday evenings on the local Fox affiliate. However, that was an off and on trend for a few years including the show landing in different time slots. It stayed it's course from about early 06 until the transition to My Network TV though. This had to have happened to others right? If you didn't get SD when it aired, when did you? Did it change from time to time? I'm curious is all. It used to drive me insane that we didn't get Smackdown with favorites like Eddie and Rey when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure my cousin stumbled upon it by accident on a Saturday once. We were thrilled.
  3. Since I've been watching in Jan. 2000: Sep. 02-Feb. 04 Raw was pretty bad. Smackdown is considered great during that period mostly but Chattanooga didn't have a UPN affiliate as early as 2001 or so. The local Fox affiliate aired SD at either 6 PM or 11:35 PM off and on for years. They eventually did it every week until the transition to My Network TV. That means all I knew was Raw and the Smackdown matches on PPVs from 02-08. I did catch a lot of the Saturday airings in the mid 00s though which had a lot of great stuff. I digress though. Once the Benoit push simmered Raw turned into trash again pretty quickly. I watched more MNF than Raw in the falls of 04, 05, and 06 probably. It wasn't until Trips tore his quad a second time and the build to Mania 23 that WWE got awesome again like it was when I was a kid in 00-01. That lasted until the Benoit stuff. I'd say the worst period though probably was late 09-early 11. The Miz's initial push and Punk's SES are things I really enjoyed at the time, but the Nexus angle fell off the rails quickly. This isn't to mention ECW ending as brand, 90% of the Raw guest host shows being terrible, the return of DX AGAIN, and some of the least interesting mid-carders of all-time like uninspired Matt Hardy, post-Matt Hardy feud MVP, Carlito, and DH Smith. Smackdown had a bunch of great matches and Superstars was a gift from the C-show Gods, but this period sucked. However, is 02-04 Raw, and late 09-early 11 worse than mid 14-present WWE? Raw in both periods was, but overall as a product this is the worst WWE I've ever seen. EDIT: To put a bit of a positive spin on it, I still think there are a bunch of good to great matches in WWE every year and there's still stuff even storyline wise that I enjoy. Not a lot with the latter, but it's there.
  4. I'm 23. I have no idea what the hell One Punch Man is. I'm guessing Anime? Only Anime I ever watched was Dragon Ball Z as a kid.
  5. Seiji Sakaguchi Based on Parties consideration and he has plenty of reviews in 80s forum. Gary Young Another Parties consideration that hasn't been nominated yet. I don't know about reviews. I think he has some in the 80s forum. I'm starting to look around to see who's been suggested as potential nominees by others and going ahead and nominating them. It's best that we get as many nominees as possible. If there's anybody that anyone is considering go ahead and nominate them.
  6. I think it's stuff that's we've seen, can see, or know exists that has never been on YouTube/DM or no longer is on YouTube/DM.
  7. I find rating matches a million times more difficult than wrestlers. I'm not sure I could ever do a list like this. These 100 matches are really great reference points though.
  8. My thing with US guys working denser schedules is this. I've seen Bret Hart handhelds and Coliseum Home Videos where he's phoned it in. On the surface, you could argue that's because of the schedule, but I've seen John Cena handhelds and seen him work WWE Live Events and he's been excellent in pretty much all of those matches. Maybe it's just that some guys are lazy. I don't know, that's just one example. I don't think it matters how many matches one works over any period of time. It's how those people perform or work in those matches that matters.

    Les Kellett

He sounds fun. It doesn't sound like he has enough footage for me to vote for him, but I am interested. "The world's funniest Crusher" sounds amazing for some reason.
  10. Brain, I want to agree to what Redman said and hope you still vote. Everyone has their own criteria. I think there's a reason it was named "Greatest Wrestler Ever." It ambiguous enough to allow everyone to vote they way they wish to. If it was more specific to "Greatest Wrestler In-Ring" we'd have less people voting, same with "Greatest Wrestler on Promos & Skits."
  11. I think the overall package, especially when you include drawing power, becomes too objective. Jim Londos and Hulk Hogan will have to rank pretty high if that's the case. I've always thought of "Greatest Wrestler Ever" as purely in-ring though. The promos, skits, and character work can help I suppose, but I just watched 10 Adrian Street matches all with great character work, angles, and promos. The ring work left a lot to be desired, minus the great Breaks match from 72, and he's not making my list.
  12. I'm pretty anti-download so I'd much rather use streaming sites like YouTube, Dailymotion, Vimeo, etc. I have some stuff from the Village too. I'd get more but I've been at various points with no money and no job so free streaming works best for me most of the time. There are flaws in that, but it's enough for me to make a pretty decent judgment call on a lot of wrestlers.
  13. I've seen the Buddy match! It rules!
  14. What HAVE you seen Matt? I'm guessing you've seen WCW Scorpio? The Douglas match from ECW is great, but I don't have any other knowledge of that run. I've liked him on the Indies in the last few years. He has a really good match with Mike Cruz (I think) from like 2013.
  15. I'm pretty much 95% certain we're getting HHH-Roman at Mania. Yay. Roman-Brock will happen at Fastlane.
  16. Maybe Sheamus? Well, he's not a lock yet at all. But there's a chance he makes the back end of my ballot. I think there's a few others who might consider him, but very few indeed. The dude is a consistency machine and has been for the better part of 7 years. He also has the Daniel Bryan 2/3 Falls Extreme Rules 2012 match which is one of the 30 best WWF/E matches of all time.
  17. Dory won't make my list. He's more like top 200. Dusty won't be on there. I don't think a ton of people will have them on lists though. I'm not sure Baba will make my list. He very well could if I like his 70s stuff, but 4 matches that take 6 hours or whatever isn't too appealing. Steve Williams won't make it. I admit to not even seeing his 80s stuff, but does it matter that much? Eh, he has good performances in AJ 90s, but didn't blow me away.

    Lizmark

Lizmark is good, but I don't know if he makes my ballot. I've liked the 80s stuff I've seen from him, but he's not my favorite kind of luchador. He's certainly a good worker, but there are a lot of other lucha guys I like more.
  19. About a year ago I posted on here that I loved old man Bruno throwing guys into cages and I still do. I haven't seen any prime Bruno but maybe I should? Honestly, he doesn't seem like a guy who can make my list, but I haven't even really given him a fair shot yet.

    El Satanico

I've seen all the great Satanico from 84 and 90. That put him on ballot right there. I'd love to see more stuff though. He's someone who could finish very high on my ballot.
  21. Exposer

    El Dandy

I even love WCW El Dandy. The dude is one of the more well rounded wrestlers ever. He does have some footage issues, but man what we have is mostly pretty damn great. 90 Dandy alone is a contender for my top 100. Add in a decent portion of other good to great stuff and he's solidified a spot. Guy can sell, bump, work the mat, and throw a mean punch.
  22. Exposer

    Necro Butcher

That Joe match is glorious lunacy. Necro's a guy who I'd probably consider if I could see more of his matches. Those Ki and Super Dragon matches sound amazing. I liked his New Jack match from a few years ago too. I think he made my top 100 in 2012 or something. I'm willing to give him a little deeper of a look. His selling and brawling is pretty awesome from what I've seen.
  23. Is it Hector or Mando who can be really annoying in matches sometimes? If this is him then probably not. I do know he wrested in late 90s WCW some and I've enjoyed a few of the matches I've seen from there but they're all about five minutes or less. The Guerreros trios from Lucha I've seen are fun to good but I can't remember if Hector is actually in them. Anyone have him as a contender? Recommendations?

OJ got anything on Les Kellett?

    Octagon

This is the guy who had the great Fuerza feud correct? Those matches are superb, but I have nothing else to add. Any recommendations?
