[1990-09-15-TWA-Autumn Armageddon] Eddie Gilbert vs Cactus Jack
Willninho replied to Loss's topic in September 1990
This match was blah. Is next year when they have their big feud because I was expecting things to get out of hand and they did not.- 7 replies

Gilbert and the DWB’s peeking their heads out the curtain and the cuts to them just looking around scared were amazing and made me laugh out loud multiple times.

Is this the first ever time Fuchi drops Kobashis knee on a ringside table? I haven’t seen this in a while since I watched the whole jumbo Misawa feud and it was interesting seeing the start. Jumbo I thought especially had some extra starch in this match; some of those knees and lariats were killers.

This ruled. I think the other matches they had were better at least the start of the matches but they worked this one for Arena Mexico. But then when the fuck finishes started it went great. Best part of the match was the tercera card after Rush was about to be stretchered. Both DQs were good and made sense; Rush/Park is the best feud of the 10's.

As someone who's probably never seen a prime Bruno match what 2-3 would you recommend?

I don't know if the match itself is great but Funk is working for 3 people in this match. Just an all time wonderful performance by him.

[2000-02-04-NJPW] Jushin Liger vs Minoru Tanaka
Willninho replied to soup23's topic in February 2000
I didn't love this. I think there's a way to do a 5 minute juniors match but this just felt like a clipped match. It felt they just skipped the beginning stages instead of doing a sprint and or squash. -
[2000-01-15-WCW-Saturday Night] Mark Jindrak vs. Elix Skipper
Willninho replied to soup23's topic in January 2000
This is fine as a young green guys match but the fake crowd noise is hysterical. They pipe in massive heel hit in a half empty crowd for a basic heel move in the beginning. -
[2000-01-15-WCW-Saturday Night] 3 Count vs. PG-13 & Chavo Guerrero Jr
Willninho replied to soup23's topic in January 2000
This was super quick but a really fun short match. Did any NC indy or something ever run a 3 Count PG13 match ? Because that seems great if it ever happened with length. -
[2000-01-06-WCW-Thunder] Bret Hart vs Terry Funk (Hardcore)
Willninho replied to soup23's topic in January 2000
Man this match was just sad to me. Funk I thought surprisingly looked much older than he has in even the 1998 stuff I seen and then knowing Bret's condition; just sad. -
[2000-01-04-NJPW-Wrestling World 2000] Jushin Liger vs Koji Kanemoto
Willninho replied to soup23's topic in January 2000
Ignoring the booking for this, I thought this was fun for a squashing big match. I liked their slugfest at the beginning then how shocked the crowd was at the result. -
[2000-01-29-WCW-Saturday Night] Tommy Rogers vs Kid Romeo
Willninho replied to soup23's topic in January 2000
Tommy Rogers was only 38! I assumed he would have been older but he looked pretty good in this match. Romeo looked bad but he had only been working like 4 months so ok I guess. -
Thought this was allright; the first fall all Miller was fun but I didn't think there was a ton to the 2nd and 3rd fall. The brawl after the match was really good though. It all felt like to set up another match but not great standalone.

Between the Sheets #77 (January 4-11, 1999)
Willninho replied to KrisZ's topic in Publications and Podcasts
So what specifically happened in the Ogawa/Hashimoto match? I saw the match and thought it was all a work and people in the yearbook thread thought so too. Bix was calling it a double cross but wasn't clear what he meant by that? It was planned all until the end when Ogawa went harder than planned so they called it? -
I think every nonWM/NYC crowd are really really dead and some of the recent losses have killed the card depth but if the Floslam money is good as people are saying they can bring interesting guys in plus WWE guys whatever their relationship is.

DISC 2: 1. Chicky Starr vs. Invader III (Scaffold Match) (May 1986) 2. Invader I vs. Bruiser Brody (6/15/86) 3. Invader I vs. Eric Embry (June 1986) 4. Invader III vs. Eric Embry (1/6/86) 5. Kamala vs. The Invader (2/22/86) 6. Invader I vs. Chicky Starr (1/6/86) 7. Los Pastores vs. The Invaders (8/2/86) 8. Rock n Roll RPM's vs. The Crusher & Eric Embry (3/29/86) 9. The Invaders vs. Chicky Starr & Ron Starr (3/29/86) 10. Carlos Colon vs. Jos LeDuc (Barbed Wire Match) (2/22/86) 11. Abdullah the Butcher v. Victor Jovica (Chain Match) (July 1986) 12. Carlos Colon & Miguel Perez Jr. vs. Los Pastores (January 1986) 13. Carlos Colon vs. Abdullah The Butcher (6/15/86) 14. The Rock n Roll RPM's vs. The Zambuie Express (3/29/86) 15. Rock n Roll RPM's vs. Dan Greer & Don Kent (3/29/86) 16. Carlos Colon and The Invaders vs. Abdullah the Butcher, Chicky and Ron Starr (4/26/86) 17. Carlos Colon vs. Abdullah the Butcher (March 1986) Really great bunch of matches as I think everything from 10 or so higher I imagine would be in the top half for me if the disc keeps up and the top 3 feel like all top 10/15 matches for me. Also I'm probably going to be the lowest on the Butcher/Colon matchups as I'm just not feeling the matchup anymore; I understand why it's a go-to legendary feud; just the matches themselves don't particularly excite me.

Abdullah the Butcher vs. Victor Jovica (Chain Match) (July 1986)
Willninho replied to El Boricua's topic in Matches
I thought it was really fun until it got to the turnbuckle nearfalls where I think the match slowed down some as it was not really dramatic imo one guy hits 3 turnbuckles then the other guys stops him for about 4 minutes. The lowblow finish was done well though. 6/10 -
This might be something obvious I'm missing but is there a reason why sometimes the Invaders have masks and sometimes they don't? Does Invader I only wear in tag matches or is there a mask match that happened sometime and the matches are a little out of order?
-
Well besides the uh future implications of this matchup, I thought this was really great. Invader I is so great here as the underground feisty babyface with these stumbly attacking forearms against the big man. The double countout I think works fine here as Invader basically wins at the end and then it looks like Invader gets carried off by the crowd for running Brody off by the end. I thought this was a perfect length; I love most/all of these 10 minute fiery PR brawls. 8/10

Chicky Starr vs. Invader III (Scaffold Match) (May 1986)
Willninho replied to El Boricua's topic in Matches
This was awesome! I don't recall if I've ever actually seen a scaffold match before or it's just not a match that sticks with me but this was really great. I thought all the teases were great and they really laid it in up there. And that final bump is/was nuts. 9/10. -
Rock n Roll RPM's vs. The Crusher & Eric Embry (3/29/86)
Willninho replied to El Boricua's topic in Matches
I really disliked this ending; the crowd loved it but I didn't think it fit at all. The face in peril segment is pretty great; it just feels the tricking ending isn't together with this long final with blood. A good capper to a fun tournament though. 7/10. -
Carlos Colon vs. Jos LeDuc (Barbed Wire Match) (2/22/86)
Willninho replied to El Boricua's topic in Matches
Yea the early stuff was fun with with leduc's shirt getting off and then getting hit into the cage a bunch. I didn't love it when Leduc was in control as it was a lot of him laying on top pushing him into the wire which was brutal but not exactly exciting. I can take a figure four finish as it was so brutal he was unable to fight back. Fun stuff; 7/10.
