  1. I don't think I've seen any matches of his that I've really enjoyed outside of the Nasty Boys matches. I don't recall anything notable coming out of Man Mountain Rock besides the buildup of a feud with Bob Backlund that I don't recall having a blowoff. Really, the first thing that comes to mind is the lawsuit he filed over the Max Payne video game.
  2. Demolition, Islanders, Hart Foundation, New Dream Team, & Bolsheviks vs Killer Bees, Strike Force, Rougeaus, British Bulldogs, & Young Stallions - Survivor Series 1987
  3. I was apprehensive about watching this match, but surprisingly it was a lot better than I expected. As earlier stated, Shawn did a great job playing the face in peril, and he seemed to be the glue that held this match together in my opinion. The crazy post-match brawl is the one that causes Undertaker to wear the "Phantom of the Opera" mask.
  4. This was just full of corny and cringeworthy puns. I found it hilarious, this is what I love to see from early to mid-90's WWF. Unfortunately, for me, this was the highlight of this episode of RAW.
  5. This match fell flat. Only memorable thing was Lawler's nosebleed, which was great.
  6. I could never understand what Ahmed was saying in his promos, but strangely enough I could understand him just fine in his shoot. Anyways, I think the message in this promo was to stay in school.
  7. Great match, only complaint is that Eddy hitting his arm on the ringpost was a little mistimed as it appeared to me that he connected more with Benoit than with the ringpost. Post-match Bischoff mentions a cruiserweight title for competitors such as Benoit, Guerrero, and Malenko. After seeing this match I don't know how any fan at the time couldn't be pumped for the prospective cruiserweight division.
  8. I was surprised when I re-watched this recently as I seem to remember all they Rey/Psicosis matches from ECW being about the same. I was wrong, this one was by far the best. They were absolutely insane in this match and it still holds up today, which I think is impressive, since in my opinion, spotty matches don't seem to age too well.
  9. Cactus was fantastic here and had the crowd in the palm of his hand. The match was great, but I agree that the post-match beatdown worked against what Cactus was doing in the match and the post-match antics went a little too long.
  10. My predictions: Henry wins the chamber given his recent push. This would leave Del Rio to retain the title to have a face/heel matchup for the title at Mania. Shield loses. Rock retains This looks like a good card on paper and I'm looking forward to seeing it. Also, what's with the pre-show match? I thought Rhodes Scholars stopped teaming? I haven't seen the latest SmackDown yet so I guess it could be explained there.
  11. I don't think RVD was every particularly good, but he used innovative moves and that's what got him over. He was mega over in 01/02 soon after he debuted in WWE. I don't think he really went downhill from there, but a lack of a push and his moveset not being so fresh led to the audience not caring about him and he just sort of floundered.
  12. I think WWE is going about this network the wrong way. I think the smart thing would be for them to make this as an app available for devices such as Roku, Xbox, and PS3. I imagine the cost for the network would be cheaper if they took this approach.
  13. ROH Low Ki vs AJ Styles vs Paul London - One Year Anniversary Show Doug Williams vs Christopher Daniels - Night of the Champions Steve Corino vs Homicide - Bitter Friends, Stiffer Enemies Backseat Boyz vs Carnage Crew vs Special K vs SAT vs Teddy Hart & Jack Evans - Main Event Spectacles (Not the best match, but notorious for the Teddy Hart antics post-match and the first time a double moonsault was performed) Other Indies Zandig, Nick Gage, Wifebeater, Lobo, Ian Knoxx, and New Jack vs Messiah, Nate Hatred, B-Boy, Trent Acid, Johnny Kashmere, and Adam Flash - CZW Cage of Death V Super Dragon vs Joey Ryan - PWG An Inch Longer Than Average B-Boy & Super Dragon vs Briscoe Brothers - PWG Are You Adequately Prepared to Rock Chris Hero vs CM Punk - IWA:MS When Hero Met Punk
  14. This was just magnificently booked and a great representative of what ECW was at this time with many of the storylines coming to a head. I've seen seen some debate over this match in the past with some people claiming it to be the best in ECW history. I think that it's definitely not the best from a workrate standpoint, but it may be the best booked segment that ECW ever did.
  15. I don't think there is any chance that Bruno won't headline this year's HOF. Many of the fans probably haven't seen a Bruno match, but they at least know his historical significance with the WWE. I may be wrong, but I think the HOF would draw a different crowd than your typical WWE event and will most likely be an older crowd anyways.
  16. This was also my first Wrestling Culture podcast and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Great discussion that left me wanting to go back and watch footage of all three guys. I can't wait to check out further episodes. I just wish that I could suscribe to this podcast with my phone app that I use for all my other podcasts.
  17. I thought this match was pretty good, but I didn't see it as being great or particularly special. The interference throughout the match didn't bother me and I didn't really think anything of it until I read the comments here. It's probably because it's something that I have become accustomed to since it is done ad nauseum on the indies these days. I thought all the guys came out looking good in this match and it had a strong finishing stretch. Everyone played their role well, but Kikuchi was the standout for me as I thought he played the role of the underdog/weak link of his team perfectly. This match actually made me want to go and watch more of Kikuchi as hee is a guy that I've always thought was pretty good, but he just seemed to get lost in the shuffle and was overshadowed by other guys in this All Japan era.
  18. I just watched this match recently and I thought it was really good. This match was different than many of Bret's other matches and Lafitte looked great. They told a great story of Lafitte having Bret's number and countering Bret's signature moves. It seemed like most of Bret's offense was defensively getting out of the way of Lafitte's high risk maneuvers. This was a refreshing match to watch and one I recommend.
  19. I'm having a hard time getting into the Rumble this year. It seems like Rock/Cena II at Mania is a certainty and I am completely uninterested in that match. The Rumble match should still be fun though.
  20. I have absolutely no interest in the matches that are speculated for Mania. I am planning on going to Wrestlecon that weekend for DGUSA and Chikara, but it looks like I will probably be skipping out on WrestleMania.
  21. The Punk documentary is great. I think it is the best that WWE has done and I put Jericho at 2nd. I haven't seen all the DVDs that have been mentioned, but I put Jericho above Austin since some of the stuff seemed to be rehashed from the previous Austin DVD.
  22. I doubt this will change much. I haven't enjoyed ROH since Gabe left in '08. I don't think the booking was really that much better under Pearce, he just had a better roster (Danielson, Hero, Claudio, Omega, Generico, etc.) that would put on matches that I would go out of my way to watch every now and then.
  23. I enjoyed Main Event. My biggest complaint is that I thought there was too much in-ring dialogue with Miz and Michael Cole. I don't have high hopes for this show though. WWE doesn't have a very good history of maintaining shows in the 1 hour format.
  24. I primarily watched ROH and other indies during this time. Here is a list of ROH recommendations that haven't already been listed. I might add some other indies later. ROH Homicide vs Bryan Danielson - Reborn: Stage Two 4/24/04 - I remember some talk soon after this match happened that it was possibly the best ROH match at this point. Unfortunately it seemed to be lost in the shuffle after the Joe vs Punk series happened. I really enjoy this match and think it is worth a watch. The Briscoes vs Second City Saints - Reborn: Stage Two 4/24/04 - A great tag-team match and Punk's first title win in ROH. Mark Briscoe vs Colt Cabana vs Austin Aries vs Homicide vs Bryan Danielson vs Samoa Joe - Survival of the Fittest 6/24/04 - The first in what would become yearly tradition for ROH. In my opinion, this is the best Survival of the Fittest that ROH ever put on and the breakout match of Austin Aries. CM Punk & Ace Steel vs Dan Maff & BJ Whitmer - Death Before Dishonor 2: Part Two 7/24/04 - A great hardcore match that ended the Second City Saints vs The Prophecy feud. Quite possibly the best street fight in ROH history. Austin Aries vs Bryan Danielson - Testing the Limit 8/7/04 - Another match that showcases the potential of Austin Aries. Quite a lengthy match, but it is worth watching. Samoa Joe vs Bryan Danielson - Midnight Express Reunion 10/2/04 - This is another match that I think has been unfortunately forgotten. I thought it was awesome and was better than the first Joe/Punk match and better than any of the Joe/Danielson matches from their feud in '06.
  25. Basically it had all the in-ring promos, a few of the backstage vignettes, Miz vs Ryback, Tensai vs Brodus, and the 6-man tag
