[1992-11-21-SMW-TV] Down and Dirty: Jim CornetteWingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in November 1992 Cornette starts off talking about 6 man with him & Garvin, then delivers an awesome promo setting up all of the Thanksgiving Thunder matches b/w Bodies & RNR. Does a hell of a job selling the shows because he's so zeroed in on a particular message and selling those shows. This is so awesome compared with his promos where he's rambling and throwing out tired one liners.

[1992-11-21-USWA-TV] Jerry Lawler & Eddie & Doug Gilbert vs The MoondogsWingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in November 1992 Clips of a 6-man from the MSC. Fun looking brawl around the ringside area with lots of weapons. Gilbert pins Lee and the brawl continues afterwards.

Quick, solid work early. Barry & Dustin were such a great team, working a cool suplex/elbow combo and so capable of working any style depending on the opponent. Other than Dustin being the one to deck Barry, I thought it was a pretty effective heel turn for Windham and a hell of a follow up after the match and backstage. Really looking forward to his last run as a singles. ***1/2

[1992-11-18-WCW-Clash of the Champions XXI] Sting vs Rick RudeWingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in November 1992 Zbyszko, Hiro Matsuda & Ole Anderson are our judges just in case it’s a draw. Sting's working Rude's midsection was solid. Then things slow down. A lot. This felt a lot longer than it was. **1/2

Terrible video of them getting fitted for suits. Terrible mullets. WCW's version of the Crush videos, but at least this is only here once.

Couldn't agree more. He looked great here and the crowd was incredibly hot for him. On the other hand, absolutely nothing about the presentation of this match suggested that Ron Simmons is a world champion, but rather a plucky, powerhouse babyface. I would've liked it if the announcers had a name for Scorpio given how long the match went, as it would've been more effective in establishing him than having Simmons introduce him afterwards. **3/4

[1992-11-16-WWF-Primetime Wrestling] Randy Savage's mystery partnerWingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in November 1992 This was just phenomenal, and I imagine only better seeing it build and play out over a 2 hour show. Heenan is the absolute star here laughing this off early, slowly losing his cool and then absolutely blowing his top at the end and getting physical with Perfect. Hell of a way to rebook a main event with such little notice, and really couldn't have been done much better. Just great performances from everyone involved.

[1992-11-15-WWF-Wrestling Challenge] Interview: Bret HartWingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in November 1992 Hart interview with matches coming up against Papa Shango and Flair. I like the idea of him taking on all comers, but this wasn't exactly a murderer's row of challengers. Imagine if Watts had done this with Simmons facing off against Rude, Vader, Jake, Windham and others instead of the Barbarian.

[1992-11-14-WWA] Eddie Gilbert vs Terry Funk (Texas Death)WingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in November 1992 This was kind of tough to follow and really rate given the production and how all over the place they were, but these two can definitely brawl. Great punching, weapon shots and bumping around the gym (especially Gilbert's straight away back bump on a punch). I also liked how they incorporated a bunch of falls here without each successive one feeling like a new match with fresh wrestlers. They sold the hell out of this throughout. I can see why this was such a spectacle for 1992 that I believe Meltzer went a full 5 stars or close to it, and while it doesn't hold up as any kind of classic, its a fun look at what was going on and what these two could do in this setting.

Hart celebrates a recent defense until HBK interrupts to promote Survivor Series title match. Solid promo from HBK tying in Hart's loss at Summerslam to DBS, who Michaels just beat. Not exactly a main event world title build, but Michaels stepped up his game here. I may be in the minority (at least in this thread) but I *love* some HBK music.

This was much more fun than I recalled and a pretty great performance from HBK considering who he was working with. The heat here was pretty great, unless it was piped in and I missed it, as they didn't look as hot as they sounded. He mastered the role in '97, but Michaels was such a great heel here with his facials. Solid focus on DBS' back leading into a logical finish. ***1/2

First of all, this was an awesome idea and the kind of fun that makes this place great. As for these dates: 1/4 -- I'd go for Nakamura/Sakuraba from this year. 2/28 -- The AJ tag was my #1 match on that set so it definitely takes this date. 2/15 -- Eddy wins! 3/27 -- Gun to my head I'd take the Horsemen sprint over MX/Fantastics but can't go wrong with either. Flair will have his days here. And his long matches, including many that hold up a ton better. 5/22/92 -- AJ 6-man is probably my match of an all around spectacular year, so it takes the prize. 8/18 -- Brock/Punk. No worse than top 3 MOTY for me at this point. 8/31 -- Doc/Kobashi, but I'm often times an irrational Kobashi fan. 11/20 -- I'm with you on Kong/Toyota.

[1992-11-14-WCW-Saturday Night] Dustin Rhodes vs The BarbarianWingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in November 1992 Barbarian with a nice catch & powerslam on Dustin coming off the turnbuckle in one of the cut-offs Pete noted above. This was a well paced TV match that showcases Dustin's versatility as he sells really well here, making Barbie's offense look better than it does against most. He also puts this together without one of his great sequences on top where he's wailing away on an opponent, instead working underneath most of the wayDustin wins on on a roll up after Barbarian hits the post on a spear. **3/4

[1992-11-14-WCW-Saturday Night] Bill Watts announcementWingedEagle replied to Loss's topic in November 1992 Watts says Jake is out of WCW to deal with personal issues and Barbarian is taking his s place in King of Cable tourney. Real disappointing as there were a ton of potential for him in WCW following such a strong debut.

Armstrong interview where he says Sullivan is banned from TV, but Brian Lee can get his hands on him at an SMW show off of TV. Probably effective to promote local shows. Says at Thanksgiving Thunder Sullivan gets the Mongolian Stomper, shown here in clips that looked decades old. Then a paid commercial from Sullivan. Completely over the top, but feels better here than WCW in 1995. Enjoyable now even if it wouldn't necessarily work. One of the real highlights from SMW thus far.

Nothing too constructive to add at this time, but for my money Ohtani had some of the best facials offered by anyone in Japan. The guy was accessible to any wrestling fan unfamiliar with the Japanese product.

Serious Greatest of All Time CandidatesWingedEagle replied to Dylan Waco's topic in Megathread archive Bret Hart fetishism always has negative consequences on this board I love many a Bret Hart match and quite a few promos in '96-'97. I just don't see why this nonsense needs to drag down an otherwise high level discussion. I'm one who easily ventures off into thinking of someone as a draw, their promo work and other non-work intangibles. But this ain't the place for that.

Right if the show is sold to a local promoter I can get it, though I can't imagine anyone plans on turning a profit with the trans expenses and available population bases there. Definitely not part of any loop you'd expect a touring promoter to hit.
