Re: Diva Battle Royals The crowd is normally dead and the match is over in under 5 minutes while the women get tossed through the bottom rope and through the middle ropes. These have never been over. Doing a Diva RR will get the same type of heat and the majority of the women are not over so during the rundowns there will be nothing but the sound of crickets for over 90% of the women.

John Cena is the only legit draw in WWE. An argument can be made for Lesnar and Taker to an extent, but the year around clear number one guy is John Cena. If Cena does too much selling (or even an appropriate amount) who is positioned as number two to look like Superman? Reigns? I would love if WWE did injury/fired/suspension angles with Cena and other top guys and those guys were out for MONTHS (even if its just two) vs. coming back within 2 weeks which is what normally occurs. So this begs the question, how much is too much? How long should John Cena clear sell an injury? Cena obviously can't be out from a business and kayfabe perspective for 6-8 months after a Lesnar beatdown. When is the right time to return? After Summerslam I think Cena should not have been seen for the rest of August, September, and October. So 2 1/2 months with radio silence and then a big return for Nov leading to a SS rematch or a RR rematch (as Cena could/would have been sidetracked by The Authority which leads to the SS mainevent that we got).

Steve Jobs had an email that people would send him messages to directly. It was forward facing. He would respond when he could. Dana White is known to show up on forums and post here-and-there and is also very fan-friendly. Vince McMahon smiles and mugs for the camera but at the end of the day he doesn't want any direct feedback regarding his product. Dixie Carter has tried to be forward facing as many times as she could, but she was being a carny all-the-while doing it and no changes came about because of her Q&As, etc. Its like pro wrestling refuses to take one-on-one with fans. Sure you are going to get the guy with a gimmick name dressed as Hulk Hogan sitting on a toliet asking some stupid question- but you are also going to get the guy asking a REAL QUESTION. The good and the bad. Vince believes its all bad and relies on crowd noise, which we all know is not reliable and WWE sweetens the noise anyway.

I laugh whenever someone mentions Kevin Dunn being 86'd. That will NOT be the last time you will see his work. TNA, if they are still around, will make a hardcore offer to Dunn and will finally accomplish its dream if Dunn signs. TNA will finally LOOK like WWE and have the stale visual style of Dunn's current WWE tenure while HHH finds someone else to make the product look and feel direct and continue moving forward in the 21st century. It will be amazing and sad at the same time.

I learned tonight to NEVER turn off NXT until it goes black. I the last image I saw was Owens and Sami embracing on the ramp. I then promptly killed The Network and started doing other things. I come into this thread and people are talking about shit happening after the logo and Regal being pissed. Its amazing how NXT managed to make every second of the broadcast count and made people like me (who thought he saw the whole damn show) feel stupid for tuning out even a few seconds early. That's how you book must watch wrestling. Next NXT show I will be paying attention from start to finish and will not kill the stream until I see it go black and WWE begins the air of The Network's next content. A very good showing by everyone involved! I also love the crowd getting themselves over but also having fucking fun. A "We Want KENTA!" chant was quickly booed and replaced with chants for Hideo. This is how I like to see/hear crowds. Yes we know you are smart, but god-damn have fun. NXT crowds are good with this unlike a lot of indie crowds. The Fight Owens Fight chants were great- again- having fun and not trying to get yourself over actually makes you appears smarter in the 21st century...wow! My mind is still processing Owens, Zayn, Hideo, Finn Balor, Neville, and Calisto all being on the same show, being booked like stars, and looking like stars.

Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
fakeplastictrees replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
You know 50 Shades of Grey is a pornographic book with bondage and shit right? How do you suggest incorporating it into wrestling? 50 Shades IIRC is about some meek girl and her handsome lover who is all into kinky shit. How can we turn that into something with pro wrestling? Simple really. Look at the TNA Sam Shaw/Christy Hemme stuff, but instead of Christy getting all creeped out- she is into and wants to explore more. This is where good writing and subtlety comes into play. It's all about the promos, the fashion, the non-descriptive markings that appear on the male and female's bodies (is that a hicky? etc.). Vingettes done in the style of boudoir photography, etc. It can be done in interesting visual ways that do not flat out spell it out for you. Kind of like the Goldust/Marlena duo from the mid 90's. There are other things that can be added that would actually enhance the match such as the female loving when the man gets violent and vice versa. Arm locks? Dead pan reaction. Powerbomb through a table? Smiles all around. What you are describing is a person who isn't playing pro wrestling. A person who you believe is legit. Charlotte physically (and thus far in the ring) is something a division should be built around. When I look at AJ I see a girl who can't kick any guy's ass on the roster and in a shoot fight its hard for me to believe she could beat up the majority of the Divas. Charlotte isn't too cartoony and while she is trying too hard in some aspects of her game, she isn't trying TOO HARD ala AJ Lee and her 'Too Cool For School' shooty promos. Charlotte cosplays Ric Flair at times but I don't feel she is trying to be Flair and to a greater extent I don't feel she is trying to be anyone. I feel I can write paragraphs on women's pro wrestling in the U.S. At the end of the day though, money talks. When Total Divas starts beating Raw and/or Smackdown in ratings and 2-3 of the Divas are within the top ten merch sellers within the company- THEN things will change because that means there is a demand. Going back to the steak analogy. You want steak? Sure. No problem. If it comes to you uncooked what do you do? You tell the waiter to take it back. Same thing with women's wrestling. You want it and are getting a product uncooked? Make your voice heard. The snarky "We Want Wrestling!" chants and the like can be very damning to the uncooked product and force WWE to take that shit back and bring it back sizzling. As far as years from now? Again, it would have to be a serious serious serious concentrated effort that forces women's pro wrestling into the zeitgeist. A true READY OR NOT approach that is backed by tons of social research, current bias, etc. A push like that would get women's pro wrestling further along in America then it has ever been, but it will hit a road block....women. Women like to pretend they are smarter then men and like to pass themselves off as more sophisticated in public. Its going to be an up-hill battle. Though wrestling is now part of geek chic and the number of women comic readers and video game players are steadily increasing (some articles I've read state that the number of women and men comic readers are closer than we thought), perhaps it will gain some steam. Again, there are just so many levels here. It's a loaded question in my book. -
Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
fakeplastictrees replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
But what about now? In 21st century America is there another who you can honestly say could give us a WM main event without tons of gimmicks involved? I'm talk about a straight up 20 minute match that works on all levels and that people would walk away from saying - "Damn I am glad I stuck around after HHH/Sting, Brock/Reigns, and Taker's retirement match to see that main event!"? I can't think of anyone. -
Hogan/Flair wasn't done because they were drawing poor houses IIRC, especially on the west coast (but then Orange County has never been a strong market). Hogan/Warrior II is definitely up there as is Hogan/Austin. Austin walked out of WWE because WWE wanted to pull a WCW and toss Austin/Lesnar (a money match) on Raw with zero build. Those are the three that have been talked about in WWE and were planned, but never happened. Everything else I can think of are just dream matches (i.e. Goldberg vs. Taker, etc.).

Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
fakeplastictrees replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
Rousey, to a lot of people, made WMMA feel legit. WMMA is filled with questionable striking games and padded records. Rousey transcended WMMA and people consider her one of the best fighters in UFC. Not only one of the best WMMA fighters, but one of the best fighters in the company. There is no female wrestler currently employed by WWE that I honestly feel is better than Cena, Harper, Henry, Bryan or Cesaro. There is none that are even close. Which Diva/Knockout/whatever changes the paradigm and makes you believe that she could stand toe-to-toe with Cena and it be a good match? Women don't have any credibility in the world of pro wrestling outside of their own bubble. There have been wrinkles in time, but nothing more. So what do I think would need to happen? There will need to be a company like O (a woman's network) behind a company with the lead of someone like Scott Coker with a roster consisting of Sarah Stock, Awesome Kong, Gail Kim, Cheerleader Melissa, Shantelle Malawski, etc. This company will need to have Spike TV/TNA level of commitment and the major company backing this new wrestling company must know that this will be a 10 year thing. Characters like NXT's Bayley is a must. AJ Lee is a must. The Brie Mode shit (as much as I hate it) is OVER with the women and so is Total Divas. This is what the promotion will need to tap into. This promotion cannot be the WNBA to the NBA. People like to see dunks and amazing shit that never happens (and in some cases can't happen) in The WNBA. This means that this all female promotion must have cage matches, ladder matches, 20 minutes mainevents, serious workrate, etc. Every woman from top-to-bottom should be a good worker. If the company wants to hire The Lacey Von Erichs, then that is fine as all as they are kept completely out-of-the-ring and kept in a position that better suits them (ring announcer, backstage interview, manager, time keeper, etc.). The promotion must be booked toward women and be progressive. Romance and mystery novels are big with women. Women love Twilight, 50 Shades of Grey, The L Word, etc. All of this should be incorporated into the promotion. Save the fart jokes and lame comedy for WWE. Toss in some relevant female personalities doing bumpers for this promotion and credible commentators (someone like Marloes Coenen and Ivory [ I am pulling at straws here- but you know what I mean] ), and this promotion would be off to a pretty strong start. But this promotion will need to truly be pioneering not only in the front, but in the back. Majority women writing staff, A female director, A female lead in merchandises, etc. Just typing all of this has gotten me excited thinking of all the possibilities of a project like this getting off the ground. -
Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
fakeplastictrees replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
Nobody wants to see it, because nobody has promoted it right. UFC did it, AJW did it. Simply dismissing women's wrestling because it's poorly presented is a werid argument to make. By the way I was pretty pumped for Emma-Paige and Natalya-Charlotte. I don't think that's true. I don't think people want to see it because the male alternative is simply better. Women can have good matches and they do. There are good workers in WWE, TNA, etc. However, at the end of the day the bad outweighs the good and regardless of the platform they are given- women's wrestling will not take off. People talking about women in the UFC, but the thing is that is all because of Rousey and nothing more. If Ronda never decided to get in the game all of these UFC girls would be fighting in Invicta for pennies. Wrestling needs a Rousey. Someone who comes off as straight up legit and badass that even the guys can't dis-credit her. Kong had that presence about her but did not have the sex appeal. We can't sweep sex appeal under-the-rug and pretend its not import. It is. -
Women's wrestling, could it ever be successful in the US?
fakeplastictrees replied to Grimmas's topic in Pro Wrestling
I find this statement interesting: NXT creates lots of problems just by its very existence. This is complicated. There are so many levels to this. In short: no. I believe a lot of online interest in women's pro wrestling is fake. Plain and simple. The guys calling for Divas to headline Mania are the same guys using the Raw/Smackdown Diva match as a bathroom break/time to get something to eat/time to hit the merch table. People believe that being an online cheerleader for women's wrestling makes you appear smart. It makes you appear hip and in-the-know. Mainstream U.S. wrestling has produced such a questionably-childish product for decades that fans feel they need to jusitify themselves not only to outsider-but to fans as well. People are so quick to point out that they KNOW its a work, etc. and it leads to a level of being jaded that few ever get to snap out of entirely. The love of women's wrestling factors into this jaded thinking in an interesting love (while online) and hate (in real life) relationship. I was on the WWE forums one day and people kept dropping the name SHIMMER in WWE Divas conversations. So one of the posters (who at the time was a die hard SHIMMER fan) started calling people out on their supposed knowledge of SHIMMER. Lo-and-behold, NOT ONE PERSON knew anything outside of the results posted online. People were asked detailed questions (i.e. what happened after the match, etc.) that could only be attained by doing some SUPER digging or by simply watching the match. People were faking interest and knowledge in the product just to seem cool, progressive, or whatever. Its like reading the cliff notes to Jack London's Sea Wolf and trying to pass it off as if you read it and come off as college educated while doing so. The market isn't there. It's great to write about online to get yourself over- but at the end of the day- no one wants to see Brie Bella and Emma main-event WrestleMania. No one wants to see TNA's Havok vs. Velvet Sky in a 20 minute match at Slammiversary. When was the LAST woman's match where you said "OH SHIT! I can't wait to see that!"? -
The problem people have with Reigns is that he is not there yet in the ring. The guy has good spots but doesn't know how to tie them together in a meaningful way. He has a good look and presence and at times can be convincing on the mic but for some reason it still feels like his 'casual' promos are scripted. I refuse to believe WWE is letting Roman just go off script and come up with his own stuff. Getting exposed is a motherfucker and if/when Roman becomes WWE champion and is THE number one guy going against guys like Cena, Ambrose, Rollins, Lesnar, etc. it most likely will not be pretty. He seems like a nice guy who loves the business so I hope he can succeed, but there is definitely going to be some backlash when people see someone like Ceasaro working his ass off in the dark-match and Reigns looking to hit his 5 moves in the main event.

CM Punk on Colt Cabana's Art of Wrestling
fakeplastictrees replied to goodhelmet's topic in Publications and Podcasts
I don't think that will be a problem. WWE likes the even-steven-booking. Guys trade wins anyways. So if Pizza Hut went over on Monday, Dominos has nothing to worry about as their guy will get his win back come Smackdown! Brock Lesnar has lost some matches and I don't think Jack's Links or Jimmy John's have any issues with it regardless of how he loses. Those brands are getting shown to 3-5 million people everytime Lesnar pops onto Raw and shown to a minimum of 15,000 people and over 100K on PPV. -

I like Bray and I think he is a good worker and normally enjoy his matches. But in the last year things have happened that have made me like him a little less. Its not really anything he does in-the-ring, but everything outside. Some of this is his fault while the other half of it falls squarely at WWE's feet. I started to sour on Bray's promos as soon as he dropped 'Carcosa' in a series of promos. I've read The King In Yellow a long time ago and was well aware of it so I popped when it was mentioned in True Detective. Carcosa is an interesting word and when I hear people say it I feel as though they have this pseudo-philosphical way about them. I felt Bray was trying too hard to be 'dark' while at the same time being topical and it just came off as a Hot Topic- Scene Kid trend hopping and using all the latest buzzwords to describe the latest Anberlin album. Randy Orton gets shit (and rightfully so) for his stuff feeling forced in the ring. Randy is forcing being methodical to cartoony points and at times Bray is forcing the same thing in promos and produces the same cartoony result Orton does while in the ring. Both Randy and Bray have elements of Jake Roberts, but they turn it on (and up) at the wrong moments and in the most disingenuous way possible. This is Bray's fault. WWE fucked up with the child choir, the ending of the Cena/Wyatt cage match, the directing of Bray to REPEATEDLY sing a gospel hymn, and of course JBL saying 'he calls them his fireflies!' EVERYTIME Bray makes his entrance. Less is more and for a guy who is suppose to be creepy and yet intriguing- WWE/Bray are making sure everything he does becomes run-of-the-mill and expected. I feel as though Bray is slipping into the Diva terrority when it comes to being over. No Diva outside her entrance is really over. Sure a case can SLIGHTLY be made for someone like AJ or even Paige, but who is really moving the needle? There are crickets during Nikki's matches, but not her entrance. Bray is going in that direction based off the last couple of TV appearances- again I like the guy - so I hope it doesn't continue.
-
Wait!? What the hell!? TNA had a bigger budget than Ring of Glory and the hanging X and hanging title in Ultimate X felt down on a number of occasions. What would have happened if a sword feel down? I need to track down this match just to see how the fuck they are hanging the sword. Examples?

WWE is hands down the most racist, sexist, homophobic, xenophobic, anti-sematic, misogynistic product I have seen in my life. Factor in the necrophilia, pedophelia, and at times just tasteless angles and you got a product that should have pushed all of us away. If I still watch WWE then I cannot think of a product that would make me tune out due to being 'offended'.

If anyone wants to read the 2001 Vince McMahon Playboy interview (check it out below). Aside from the Bob Costas interview, this is probably the closes to honesty McMahon has ever been.
-
I don't like all this fake edginess going on right now in WWE. It's one thing if AJ Lee is doing it, though completely tiresome, as its expected. But now its to the point where KNOWN company dick suckers like Cena and The Bellas are acting as if they are 'with it' and rebelling against The Machine. Nikki Bella complaining about her promo being cut is like someone in the top 1% of this country complaining about the engine in his/her Ghost dying and being forced to drive the Bugatti or one of the other 10 luxury cars sitting in the 2 mile long driveway. I really hope that this Punk interview doesn't turn WWE into some corporate version of The Attitue Era.

Re: MITB attempts. As it stands right now a person can attempt a cash in multiple times. One the bell rings YES that counts as one. I think the attempts should be limited as it will condition the crowd to know that that person only has 3 chances. One missed opportunity creates desperation and in a way careful planning. Re: MITB rematches. Nothing is allowed to breath in WWE. Cena got his ass kicked a SS. He was back in one week and dominating and then the next month it was him and Lesnar again. That is a match that WWE could have pushed back until at least RR. If Rollins came out and killed Lesnar. WWE would have to be super creative in things of ways to keep these guys apart/barely touching until the end of the 90 days. Maybe 90 days is too much? Perhaps just 30 so there is at least one PPV breathing room.
-
WWE is stale and needs to spice up a lot of elements of its programming. MITB improvements: -Limit the attempted cash-ins. I think that will increase the drama. If the fans know Rollins only has 3 chances in the entire year to chase in then that would make for interesting drama if we see Rollins uses 2 (in stupid ways) of his cash-in attempts and finally only has one more attempt left and 7 months to go. Anything can happen. -I think another interesting concept is that the entrants to the match must have never held the WHC. This will ensure fresh matchups all the time and FORCE WWE to push someone new at least once a year. -A former MITB winner cannot compete in another MITB contest for one full year after his/her victory (Example: If Rollins wins in 2014- regardless of whether he is sucessful in cashing in his MITB contract- he must sit out of any and all MITB matches in 2015). -All MITB cash-in matches are No-DQ. -A champion that was cashed-in on and lost cannot re-match for the title until the end of 90 days. If a MITB winner cashes in and FAILS- that MITB winner cannot challenge for the WHC (in any capacity) for 90 day.* *Again this will force WWE to get creative. Rollins can cash in on Lesnar tomorrow and WWE would run the re-match at TLC. With the 90 day rule going both ways this would force WWE to hold the match off until the EC PPV in Feb. What else would I like to see? WWE should mix it up! -Elimination of HIAC as a match type. -Change the Royal Rumble to Fucking WORLD WAR THREE. Save the countdown for the last 20 entrants. These would be for big names only. Imagine the last 20 to enter are: HHH, Cena, Orton, Batista, RVD, Big Show, Mark Henry, Jericho, Bryan, etc. etc. just the big names and some surprise returns tossed in. Combining NXT and the current WWE roster- I think WWE can hit 60 and if not- fuck it! It's the Rumble. Do some one-night deals. Bring back Carlito. Bring back Paul London. Bring back The Brooklyn Brawler. This will keep the concept fresh because we would be promised at least 15-20 non-WWE regulars. -Night of Champions should be a one night tournament for a mid-card title. This would essentially be KOTR (with qualifying matches happening on Raw, Superstars, Mainevent, and Smackdown). At the end of the show there will be no crown or throne. Just a new champion. The current champion gets a bye in qualifying for the show but must draw a number to see what bracket he will be in for the PPV. This means that the champion will not know who his opponent will be until about 23 hours before the PPV. So the champion might be in the first, second, third, or fourth match on the show. Who knows? -With the HIAC match gone, that would mean that the PPV carrying its name will need to be changed. Why not have some fun. Bring back Halloween Havoc**. WWE wants to be PG and appeal to kids. Halloween Havoc will gurantee to sell-out period! WWE can also run a gimmick where kids who are dressed as his/her favorite WWE superstar gets a special backstage meet-and-greet with Cena, Kofi Kingston, etc. Whoever some of the top 5 babyfaces are at the time. WWE can hand out bags of candy at the front door. ** I've been thinking about the return of Halloween Havoc for some time and I feel there is still a lot unexplored by the concept. If I was in charge of Halloween Havoc 2015- I'd go with a J-Horror theme. No corny pumpkins or ghouls or any of the American staples. The entrance way would be a replica of Freddy Kruger's House from Nightmare on Elm Street. During the in-arena advertisements and 'dead time' a soft blue light will cover the crowd and some occasional 'lighting' (just flashing lights). Projection technology is also at an amazing place right now. Quince Imagining does some good stuff with The NBA and I would want that used for part of the WWE PPV opener. The refs would all have zombie face paint. I have a ton of ideas for this as you can see...I'll shut up for now. -Hold SummerSlam in a tropical place. When was the last time WWE had a PPV in Puerto Rico? Hawaii would be a good spot. They are about 5 hours behind East Coast Time. I would avoid holding SummerSlam in The Mainland and try and give it a different feel from other PPVs even if that just really means different exterior shots, etc. -WWE HOF is pretty stale and is becoming overly pretentious. How can WWE shake it up? Have a comedian host it. Open it up with a monologue and then go into your first speech. Maybe have a live band play the themes of the HOF inductees instead of the actual theme booming over the PA. The main inductee should have a theme song and video package dedicated to him/her and then at the ceremony that band performs the live version of the song with some highlights of the wrestler(s)'s career and then the wrestler is introduced. One final thing- Maybe 2 performances by musical acts that song can some way (even loosely) relate to an aspect of WWE. I.E. maybe Pharell Williams performs "Beautiful" with shots of the current WWE Divas on screen and Layla and Summer Rae (as they both have legit dancing backgrounds) serve as feature dancers. Maybe some like a James Blake or Sam Smith sings a song for someone who is no longer here and cannot accept the award (i.e. Macho Man, Mr. Perfect, etc.) with a nice video package playing in the back (instead of a lame speech by the wrestler(s)'s family members). I think the family member(s) should have a short 30 second speech and intro into the band dedicating the song and performance to the departed wrestler(s).

This post is pretty incredible. You've found a way to articulate a lot of things that have always swarmed in my mind as incomplete thoughts. Bravo to you. I correct a few typos (what can I say? I type and then more on) to make for a clearer read. Re: Sek69 BlackBerry had the same thought process. In the early 2000's BB stock was in the 200's and now in 2014 the stock is selling under 10 dollars. The refused to adapt and when the customers were telling them what they want- BB was saying 'Oh! I hear you! But let me show/tell you want you REALLY want and what you REALLY mean by your assumed wants/needs!'. It took some time but eventually that type of thing bit them in the ass. If WWE keeps going on with the back-talk to the internet and the backwards application used (in some cases) in association with its product- its not going to be beautiful.

We can't ignore technology as a factor in any Vince Mcmahon 'decline' conversation. I am not surprised as The same thing happened to Michael Jackson. Michael Jackson understood music. He know what worked and what didn't work. When Invincible came out in 2001- the landscape changed. MJ was not ready for the 21st century and didn't handle it well. Despite selling 8 million copies in its first year of release, having 2 top twenty singles in the U.S., and being in the top ten highest selling albums of 2001- MJ/the world considered Invincible a 'flop'. So what did MJ do? Did he learn to adapt to the new technology and foster it to increase sales, etc? No. He started bitching and moaning while refusing to perform anything new off of Invincible, refusing to tour, etc. So how does this relate to the P.T. Barnum of Sports Entertainment? Vince Mcmahon is a carny from a period in time we will probably never see again. Vince was use to working a certain way for a very long time. Vince right now is living in a world were PPV doesn't mean what is use to mean and cable is on the way out. People are watching and interacting with the product in different ways and WWE hasn't quite figured out whats going on in that regard. Look at the way WWE has handled The Network. WWE feels that it is right to slam people for NOT having The Network instead of looking at the technical complications some will need to over-come in order to properly order/view/use The Network. WWE also doesn't understand that its in competition with Youtube and other video sites. Once WWE realizes that Youtube and a bunch of underground video sites have some of the PPVs in full (WWE likes to cut out matches for some reason), perhaps they will make the need changes to The Network as its positioned as the authority for wrestling viewing, but is lacking in essential areas (as again specially relating to shows) that is currently hurting The Network and will continue to hurt them in the long run. Vince Mcmahon is from the era where cable meant something and The Network is being ran like a cable channel despite existing on the internet. WWE and technology disconnects go outside of The Network and have found its way into the on-air product and the true assement of the product. Pro wrestling is such an interesting business because only in the wrestling business is the 'internet' a bad thing. Because of this belief, WWE/Vince have not fully embraced it and any criticism is immediately chalked up to 'Oh its just the internet!". The sad thing is that men in their 50's and 60's have conned men/women in their teens and 20's to believe that the internet is a bad thing when it comes to pro wrestling and the forward thinking views expressed online (in some cases) are just the ramblings of a bunch of 12 year old jaded kids with no education. When these '12 year old kids' show up the show and start booing Orton/Batista plans and other things they don't like- Vince's immediate reaction is 'oh its just the internet trying to hijack the show!' and not 'Oh fuck! WWE fans don't want to see this!'. Orton/Batista is a bad example as WWE called an audible and went accordingly from there but how many times in just the last decade has WWE shown to be out-of-touch with what's really going on in the world and with what the fans really want because of its distrust and hatered of the internet? Running The Networking like a cable company, making fun of those who {for technical reasons} do not have the network instead of figuring out a solution to the technical challenges, downplaying the impact/usefulness of the internet in the 21st century and the opinions fostered from that medium, and the over promoting of social media are all problems. I didn't really touche on social media, but I will say this- I know WWE has a bunch of social media accounts- and its fine to plug them. But I honestly believe that WWE plus its social media more times in a 3 hour Monday night show then The NFL, NBA, UFC, NHL, and others. OH BUT THEY NEED TO PROMOTE~! Bullshit. The constant social media plugs comes off as grand-dad trying to be hip and reminding you that he is in touch with the youngsters.
