  1. Good match. Akiyama's athleticism always impresses me. I liked his bump off the knee to the stomach and his dropkick off the apron onto Takayama. I thought Takayama was going to win, so I was plesantly surprised when Akiyama rolled him up for the victory.
  2. Solid match. Kobashi seemed to dominate Omori for a long time in this match, but they had a good finishing stretch.
  3. Very good match. Nice showmanship from CIMA in his introduction. They started with fast brawling, but then moved to limbwork. I was impressed that each used varying moves to work on the arm or leg. They both sold enough that the limbwork kept its meaning. I look forward to seeing more CIMA.
  4. This early look at Punk and Cabana was a solid match. They had a few technique issues, but the good outweighed those. They both engaged the crowd with Cabana heeling and Punk slapping the mat to get support. The structure was good, as it built up to Punk's split legged moonsault and avoided the excess of some of the other indy matches.
  5. This was trash, but still an interesting watch. Rotten and Pondo each cut the other's head with scissors and Pondo's arm got a nasty gash. This was like watching a horror movie that's all gore but no suspense. The crowd was the most interesting part of the match, as you could hear what individuals were shouting and the young girls squealed and squirmed as Rotten and Pondo brawled past them.
  6. Low Ki showed some nice athletic ability here. His speed reminded me of the original Tiger Mask. The match was a spotfest that lost its way into excess about halfway in. Blade's botch and no sell killed the match off.
  7. They might use the Midnight Express theme, but Rudy Boy and Bonecrusher sure aren't the Midnight Express. This was a slightly below average tag match. Rudy Boy's three students all had problems. Spanky almost fell jumping on the ropes. Bonecrusher didn't make any attempt at facial expression when selling. Danielson's spin kick looked bad, and he seemed overly obsessed with chopping Bonecrusher rather than selling Rudy Boy's attack. With the referee getting in his way on the dive, Danielson just didn't have a good night. They were rookies, so it's no big deal.
  8. Okay match. Conway lacks charisma here and never developed it later. Dinsmore shows some skill in his selling. I felt like they were rushing from move to move at times.
  9. This match wasn't good, but it was chaotic enough to stay interesting throughout. Guys were knocking over the crowd barriers as they brawled outside the ring. Rukkus had the best look, but he was struggling on some of his moves in the ring.
  10. This was a fairly standard match with nothing much to note. R-Truth basically had his act down at this point. Estrada was green and had some timing problems.
  11. This was a slightly below average garbage match. The spot where Bradley misses Trash and the chair rebounds into his own head is funny. The match should have ended with the table spot.
  12. This seemed joined in progress, so I felt sort of lost in the beginning. It never came together as a match, but it did have a couple of fun moments, such as Santo and Blue Panther brawling around the ring and Santo's awesome dive that went into the crowd. Dragon Kid's finisher was quite spectacular.
  13. Average match, but cool ending. I liked seeing Carlito do the cartwheel like his father. Puerto Rican crowds are always fun to watch because they get so excited.
  14. This was boring. At first, it seemed like they were doing some type of comedy with the rolling down the stairs, but when they returned to the ring, it was all bombs and kickouts. No selling can work if used properly, but Kuroda's no selling was just random. Below average match.
  15. This was one heavy hitting match. Tenryu and Sasaki were able to continually chop and punch each other while still being engaging, and it never felt phony like the fighting spirit exchanges in current New Japan often do.
  16. Good match. It was bit slow and repetitive at some points, but they kept to a consistent story of Muto working Chono's leg and Chono working Muto's neck.
  17. This was great stuff. Everything was completely chaotic, and the crowd was going crazy for it. All the participants made you believe they wanted to tear each other apart. Hashimoto's presence, charisma, or whatever you want to call it is off the charts.
  18. I love squashes! Black suit Liger completely destroyed Kanemoto.
  19. This was a solid match, but nothing really remarkable about it. I liked how early in the match Benoit looked like a lion stalking his prey watching Tenzan on the outside while Benoit was preparing to do the sliding kick.
  20. Was that the jacket that the great Ohtani's Jacket is named after? This was a good, fast paced tag. Otani looked great as usual, and Takaiwa's clotheslines were really devastating. I liked Kashin's counters into the armbar. The last sequence falling apart was unfortunate.
  21. I liked the first half of the match. The early matwork had lots of counters, and Togo did a good job of working Delphin's leg. The match fell apart for me with Togo's poorly executed table spot. The match began to drag, and I thought Togo rolling through the ddt looked silly. They dropped the legwork and went into a kickout fest that never reached a higher gear.
  22. I thought this was better than the previous six man. Kakihara looked good on offense, and poor Kikuchi took a beating and sold it well. I liked some of Misawa's selling such as wiggling the fingers.
  23. Solid match. Best part of the match was Akiyama's intensity while he was kicking the knee. I also liked seeing the double teaming by Takayama and Omori, since sometimes All Japan avoids that sort of teamwork. Kanamaru didn't seem like he really belonged in there with the rest of those guys.
  24. I didn't really get into this one. It lacked that apocalyptic B-movie feel that Onita in FMW had. The barbed wire didn't get sold enough in the beginning, so it didn't seem like a big deal later in the match. They didn't really use the spikes.
  25. Good match. I really liked the first fall with Rey Bucanero using a sneak attack and slaughtering Tarzan Boy. In the rest of the match, I would have preferred a bit more fight out of Tarzan Boy as he made his comeback, and his dive and pins were sloppy. Still, it was a good match with an effective use of blood.
