  1. I was wondering how guys in masks were going to have a hair match, so it finally made sense when the woman accompanying Oriental had to shave her head. I kept waiting for them to ramp up the hate, but it never happened. Maybe if it wasn't clipped, it would have been better. Below Average.
  2. I found it difficult to tell who were the wrestlers and who were the spectators other than the Rottens. I liked the complete chaotic feel of the match, and they built to a satisfying end with the flaming table spot. Fun match.
  3. This was on its way to being the best OVW match so far, but no, it has to have interference and the fighting referees. Buchanan is much more athletic than I remember him and showed a variety of moves. Average match.
  4. The athleticism of Styles is fully present, even if he doesn't have his later accuracy yet. Styles takes a nice bump where he misses the Stinger splash and goes over the ropes rolling down the ring steps. Onyx held his own and seemed competent. Solid match.
  5. Lawler and Road Dogg brawl with Bull Pain and Lawler in a short match that reaches the tv time limit and leaves you wanting more. The highlight was Morton perfectly throwing a chair to hit Road Dogg in the face as he jumped off the apron. Fun match.
  6. This starts off with Togo and Ebessan doing a overly cooperative canned sequence and doesn't get much better from there. Guys were just rushing from spot to spot barely selling, even when getting kicked in the crotch. Below average.
  7. Crazy Max focused more on comedy in this match than previously with Sumo Fuji parodying Shinzaki's rope walk and hitting Sasuke's crotch. They continue to be a fun act whether serious or comedic. They also did lots of Midnight Express style double teams. CIMA stood out the most in the match, with his quick kicks in the beginning of the match being memorable. Good match.
  8. These guys didn't bring any sense of character to the match, leading to a match that was competent but lacked any spark. Tiger Mask IV is missing that explosiveness that makes the original fun. Average match.
  9. Atlantis gets the sneak attack on Villano III this time, as they build to their big match. I was surprised to see the feud of Satanico and Tarzan Boy continue as I assumed the hair match would be the end to their feud. The rudos seemed very dominant even though they lost the match. Fun match.
  10. This was an all-star affair that was unfortunately clipped. Fun matchups happened like Black Liger finally meeting his match in Perro Aguayo. Hamada doing his backdrop spot only to be met by the Otani dropkick off the ropes has to be seen. Good match.
  11. I didn't figure out what the round object was that Motegi brought into the ring. This match ran out of steam after the first minute or so. The rolling around slapping and the dueling exploders came across as corny. Below average.
  12. The Winger took a beating for most of the match after a power bomb, going through a table, and getting busted open. He tagged out, but for some reason didn't stay out for long, leading to an easy loss. Most of the BJW matches haven't clicked for me so far. Average match.
  13. Crazy Max got the jump on Magnum, and Sumo Fuji viciously bit his head to draw blood. This turned into a fast paced match full of action. I liked that they had partners break up the pins instead of just kicking out after the big moves. Good match.
  14. The first fall and half was basically a squash by Black Warrior before Casas turned it around. The third fall was completely clipped. None of this had any urgency to it, as it seemed half-hearted. Below Average.
  15. Kobashi sold the ribs well throughout, and I thought Vader pulling the bandage off was a nice touch. Vader lacks his old mobility, but Kobashi is able to work around it and really makes a great comeback to beat Vader. It wasn't an all time great match like Misawa/Akiyama, but it was still an excellent match.
  16. Misawa had seemed off so far in 2000, but he was back and fully engaged here. Akiyama found so many ways to work the neck, with those apron spots being completely devastating and the great holds with the leg around the neck. Misawa is sometimes criticized for being overly stoic, but he had such great facial expressions both when locking Akiyama in holds and when he was selling. This match kept building and building and seemed as either could win, but Akiyama deservedly got his big win. Amazing match. *****
  17. Everything was competently worked, and Daniels sold well throughout. Daniels is a guy that plays a character in his introductions but drops it in the match, and that has always bothered me about him. Solid match.
  18. Spanky tries at least. This wasn't as bad as Steele's match against Cobarde, but it wasn't good either. There has to be some explanation to why this guy got worse over his career. Maybe he had some kind of injury or something. He was never great as Giant Warrior, but when you look at matches on Youtube against guys like Abdullah The Butcher, he could do a big boot and moved around much better.
  19. OVW should barricade the locker room door, so nobody can come out to interfere. Hopefully in future months, we will get to see at least one clean match.
  20. I liked the section with King fighting off both Seven and Havoc, and Ali pressing King and tossing him on them was fun. This turned into a decent tv match, and I was surprised to see Mo at the end.
  21. Another bad Tracy Smothers match. Wolfie D's quick punches look so wimpy. This was decent while they were in the back knocking paper boxes over. Once they were back in front of the crowd, it went downhill as Smothers took forever trying to figure out how to get the table in the ring. He set the table up too far from the turnbuckle, and it messed up the superplex spot at the end.
  22. A lot of setup for basically no match. The punches looked nice, but that was about all there was to it, as it ended quickly due to interference. Below Average.
  23. Nice dual angles with Villano III coming out to attack Atlantis and then Salvaje and Wagner attacking Aguayo at ringside. Atlantis got really fired up in his brawling with Villano. Aguayo got continually attacked and lost the sleeve of his suit coat and then got attacked again and busted open. Loved hearing the crowd get involved and chanting "Perro" to rally him.
  24. After the great build, this was a major disappointment. I was expecting a bite the cut, bloodbath brawl, but instead, it was a straight match. Tarzan Boy and Satanico both performed well, but it didn't end up the A-level match it should have been.
  25. I wasn't paying close enough attention on this one and got confused with the double turn. They all sold the vicious weapon attacks well and screamed when they were hit. Cheese grating the head always hurts to watch. Fun match.
